I like it, its comfy, looks fancy (well, that's a loose term for a BMW of this era) and it drives nicely, but it is a bit meh when you wish it had two extra cylinders. The comings and goings of 2018. Heck. 20180127_092309 by Sam Osbon, on Flickr Now a forum bike of sorts. I kind of want to buy it back as it would be a great WBoD commuting tool, but I don't really buy stuff back. My 1993 Rover 216 GSI. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr Now scrapped, as it was terminally rotten. Thankfully, the lovely blue interior has been saved. 1992 Citroen AX Debut. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr Not really sure why I bought this, it was alright but a bit crap for long distances, and moving house with! 2003 Fiat Stilo Dynamic JTD. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr Tried to buy a sensible daily, ended up with this. Not bad, but clearly not me. Now with Mr B. 1993 Citroen Xantia LX D. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr I bought this on a whim, and then it decided to play silly buggers when I really needed it most. Probably should have kept it, as it was decent. SLOW. 20180421_192823 by Sam Osbon, on Flickr Another stab at more sensible daily, but the shit (sorry but they are fucking terrible) seats and concrete clutch pissed me off. 1990 Rover 416 GSI Automatic. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr This was being sold for pennies quite locally, so I bought it. Sold to a meathead with face tattoos who never taxed it! And has now scrapped it. 1999 Peugeot 605 SRDT Automatic. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr I really should not have sold this. I moaned about the gearbox, which being honest, was really oddly set up and revved high, but it was so nice to be in and drive. A crock of turd being sold by a right tosser up north (as the shit cars always are), made out to be a good one which then FTP'd about 4 times in a few weeks, with new faults each time. rantingYoof
Hmm I can sort of play this game this year as my car ownership was quite tumultuous right around the time my actual life was being hurled about by sad events. All of my activity took place between late July/August and late September/early October and, I think, provided a welcomed distraction to both my dad and I during very difficult times and we ended up spending a lot of time together. Therefore I am quite pleased to be writing this, as it has made me smile. I began the year with this; owned for over two and a half years (and thus earning a LONG LIFE OWNERSHIP acheivement award) was roffled off with rattly DMF and I believe is now owned by a lurker on here and friend of The Moog (and probably still on original clutch/flywheel)... I then needed a car, and there were no Lexuseseses about so I found this for sale in Thame and drove it home with a big grin on my face. Now, as far as I know, still with Brodders who is slowly accumulating and preserving ALL OMEGAS EVER, which makes him a hero we do not deserve... Then an opportunity arose to sell the MV6 and acquire an LS400 on the same day, but the LS400 bit went awry quite late on in the process, meaning I had to locate something last minute, which turned out to be this. Sold to ohdearme, and now has its own project thread with gadgetgricey, another hero we do not deserve... However, the LS400 became available again quite quickly, and so before long I was rolling around in this, feeling like a million bloody quid... Each new car managed to break a personal record, interestingly... Most cars owned within a calendar year (four) Lowest mileage car owned (45,000 miles - Omega) Shortest period of ownership with a car (barely two weeks - Mondeo) Highest mileage car owned (175,000 miles - Lexus) The Lexus is now firmly - very firmly - in my grasp and I've not even found myself idly browsing Autotrader, except to look at prices of newer shape GS300s and GS430s which is probably going to be my next step into the low cost big liability swamp. However, 2019 is not likely to be as vehicularly interesting as this one because, in late September MrsYoof and I found out that, all being well, we are to become parents in May 2019 (after more or less writing off any chances after six years). Amongst the terror I am now feeling is some infantile smugness that I can pointedly bring baby home in an LS400 and not a hastily bought VW T-Roc, and thus begin SHITE INDOCTRINATION. cort1977, Tickman, Steviemillar and 7 others

Ghosty
Started off the year with a 740GLE that kept getting flats and had a hanging headlining. Ran well, might have HGFd.Sold that and bought a Prelude on a whim. Turned out to be uselessly impractical so I sold it to sims00 in an instant, who passed it on to SRi05 who recently sold it again.Off the back of that I missed my R8 so bought a battered one from Bramz. Turned out to be a gem. Sold to an enthusiast when a 416GTi came up.416GTi. The car that fought me all the way. Bought as it was too good a prospect to pass up but turned out to be a bit of a problem child - also I'm sick of R8s now as something else made me fall out of love with it.That was the Civic, the same package but more taut and we'll constructed. My dad asked if I wanted one and my mum offered to pay, there was a good one on AutoTrader at a wildly optimistic price. Then later that day the price fell £600, then I negotiated £200 more off it, to under a grand. I love it and it's a keeper, alas it's showing signs of HGF at the moment. Then I decided I wanted to swap the GTi for a fourth gen Accord, as I figured I should get an actual motorway car instead of having a Civic and a crap Civic in an M&S blouse.Looked at an Accord, turned out to be a dog, ran away and realised they're worth £stupid. Decided on an 850, found a high spec one, nope dog again. Posted about it on here, and Bramz linked me to a well specced T5, and offered to view it. It was a very good example, so I bought it. As everyone else is saying 2019 is going to hopefully be a quieter year: I've clocked that keeping cars longer lowers my premiums, and besides, I've got all the car I'll ever want or need now, like the odd week in 2017 when I had a Rover 200 and a 740. egg

Schaefft
Bought right before Christmas 2017 and sold sometime in May: 1997 Audi A6 2.4 Tiptronic. Bought it as winter beater because I was generally intrigued by Audi's alternative to my 5er and love the styling, loved it so much that I'm most likely going to get one with a decent drivetrain now. Must have been well taken care of before things went downhill for it when the prev. owner bought it. Also bought my 1992 Toyota Celsior in May. Found it on Ebay and saw that it is local. I managed to convince the seller to end the auction early and sell it for 500 quid. Had the capacitors on the ECU and instrument cluster boards replaced and PAS pump and alternator rebuild, all for surprisingly little money. Hopefully on the road by summer next year. And my 540i I bought in September. It was the cheapest manual 540i around, and a pre-vanos engine on top of that, and only about 2 hours from here, and it had MOT, so I really didn't have a choice, rusty sills or not. Brodders
The first sale of the year was the Mk2 Astra estate I impulsively bought before last Christmas. It was sold to PBK, then passed onto Pandamonium, before going onto someone else. It recently passed another MoT and appears to have turned over 100k. This was followed up by the ex-Bobthebeard and PBK Rover 75. It was a lovely car, with superb velour seats and was an effortless cruiser (the automatic gearbox really does suit 75s). Unfortunately I crashed it and although it still drove, it wasn't economically viable to repair. However, several parts were saved from it, so it does still live on in bits. That left a quiet period of about 6 months, until a friend was selling this and needed it gone quickly. I bought it, used it to go to Milton Keynes and back, and sold it within a week of purchasing it. It was a great car in the sense that it transported me from A to B using as little fuel as possible, but it was rather soulless. Plus it has the dubious honour of being the only diesel car I've ever owned. Thankfully RantingYoof messaged me to say he was going to sell his Omega two days after the Polo had gone. It is well documented how much I like Omegas, so I bought it. It is currently having a few bits and pieces done to it and will be something fun to use at the weekend from February onwards. And nothing has really changed with these two. I will be selling the 1300, as I don't quite have the skills or time to do what needs to be done to get it back on the road (and sitting in my garage will do it no favours). Nonetheless, I am coming up to having done 30k in the 75 since I got it a couple of years ago. The sills will need the usual work done around the jacking points in the next 6 months and the electric blind is broken again, however I expect it will be providing excellent service for another year. Mrcento
Been a very stable year In-0Out-0Fleet size- 2, Cinq, DiscoMot fails-1 (Disco, rust) Discovery had a a pretty horrific start to the year, first the brake pads fell through the calipers (common disco fault), then MOT time came, Needed some major patching to the front inner arch, All that got fixed, only for the rear diff to fail on the way home from passing the MOT. So once that was fixed, the rear tyre got punctured. Someone then slashed the spare. Rust now too far gone so big change will be coming in 2019.
