I was gently poking fun at whoever said that originally...you know, because it's the done thing in a forum/group/gaggle etc.

'but we cant post about Invacars outside of this thread, because people are fragile cant handle their shit around them for some reason '

Mate, that's your fault for posting about them everywhere, all of the time!  Despite being asked not to! Some leg-pulling is in order, obviously.  Like me and Fronterrors..🤔😁

lol. Etc.

Yes the message was got long ago and now they just come up when relevant elsewhere, like D501SWL  or all Vauxhall are shite. This thread is the safe space, so that's what it should stay. The fact people keep dragging it up elsewhere and filling pages of invacare posts up of their own doing from thin air isn't lost either.

Equally, we are the loved of the unloved... Some people would do well to be reminded of that.

I really dont see what @Sheefag sleeping with @R Lutz's mother is relevant to this thread...

You might if you got out a bit more. When Rev gets back, one imagines you'll be fighting 'em off with a shitty stick.

As an aside, many found it mildly arousing when Madame Lutz and I re-enacted a scene from that wonderful classic film, 'Stand By Me'.

A beautiful message I'm sure you'll agree.

I mean I do have to ask

I am by self admission a 1 trick pony here, Invacars is what I know it is my point of reference

you say to me "my ford escort has a weber carb" my first thought is going to be "Oh yeah like an Invacar" because that is what I know first and foremost, in the same way you say "leyland O.600" im going to think of a Routemaster bus.

or if someone is explaining something to me "so this car has semi-trailing arm rear suspension" I will make an Invacar connection because what i understand, its my point of reference

and heres the problem, ok I accept that people did not like my game of Number plate snap where if someone posted a car of an Essex or Surrey registration mark, i'd post a matching Invacar. I put a stop to that

but otherwise, when im just trying to take part in the forum, like all the general threads, eye catching black and whites, Cars and Girls, One Shite Picture per post, or the such like

if I dare post in there with a relevant invacar picture, you know people will just complain

I mean a prime example of that is the shite Top Trump thread, where god forbid I tried to take part, but nope, its an Invacar so thats not allowed

to bring up a post from one of the many previous times this thread went in circles

I would say that's sound (albeit exaggerated, given it's not every thread) advice, but that's more forum etiquette in general to at least keep things vaguely on topic. Not LBF or Invacar specific.

The post directed at LBF in the bus thread that i replied to however was a disgrace, A thinly disguised attack on a personal level that went well past it just being about that members dislike for the car and didn't even stop a quarter step short of targeted personal abuse. And for what? Mentioning an Invacar?, If it pissed that member off to that extent, they could have stopped short at something like 'keep it on topic' but instead decided to go full cunto.

No member should feel they need to walk on eggshells when posting.

yet sadly it very much does feel like I Have to, I dare not mention what I am enthusiastic about because for whatever reason people dont like that!

I accept that people are not necessarily into Invacars, @Weird Car she bought a few, they where not for her, fair enough no problems with that

but constantly being heavily chastised or having a thread blow up because I dared post one in it, is not very nice is it

I dont mind a bit of gently ribbing, anyone who has talked to my in person or over the zoom calls, knows I have got no problems with a little bit of piss-taking here and there

and here on the forum I have gone with and laughed with plenty of gentle ribbing that people have done, but again as above sometimes I feel it really becomes more then gentle ribbing I feel or is just out of place

for example someone posted in the great number plate thread, a Pug 205 with the number plate OLD1 on it, and I wanted to point out much to the chagrin of everyone on here, that, that registration mark has a direct connection to Invacar Ltd :)

(because Bert Greeves had it as a private plate on one of his old flat tank motorcycles in his private collection)

but I knew that If I posted that, i'd probably just catch a load of shit instead, so what am I to do?

I did actually think about getting another recently and I still might if a mk12 or model 70 comes up for a decent price ‘highly unlikely’ but to only use on bank holidays or trailer to shows, though to be honest we have just taken on part ownership of a Guy Arab and Mr Weird Car has been talking about getting a Leyland National so another invacar realistically isn’t gonna happen

Dez most of the people complaining just like to complain, if it wasn't you and invacars it would be someone else and something else.

Just carry on as you are, most people on this forum have no problem with what you post or where you post it, so carry on and try to ignore it.

PROVIDED you don't spam every thread at every opportunity with things about Invacars like you have done in the past (as you know Dez, I've helped you with some things and my grandfather had one). Bare this in mind when you comment on other people's threads !

Man alive, wall of text chief.

You miss the point, irrespective of when you reined it in it is still fair game (in a 'gentle' way)-embrace it.  Laughing at yourself, self-deprecating humour etc is a great way to show your more 'human ' side  if you will.  I fully expect to be mocked for Frontera ownership and owning many, many Vauxhall motors because that's a part of it, so to speak.

If you didn't point out OLD 1 then it wasn't to the chagrin of anyone chap.  You could have mentioned it was owned by a famous (owner) manufacturer and left it at that? You might enjoy the constant  references or tenuous-type connections but, as you know, most people don't (in any subject area).  Anyway...

Do people actually look at every posting on every thread?I certainly don't.I follow LBFs Invacars thread because I'm interested and want to see him on the road in REV,or at least something on wheels.I don't follow, say, the Cat thread because I haven't got one and aren't particularly interested in them, without wishing any harm on them.I post regularly on the Caravan Shite thread, but don't expect non caravanners or those who don't like them to take much interest in my ramblings.

The thing is (and i am on LBF's side on this one, i genuinely don't mind it), I do sort of get why there are a few members that get annoyed with invacar posts in other threads. Easy to avoid threads that aren't your cup of tea, but if you're doing that and reading a thread on, say, a Sierra, you probably don't want to read about Invacars on that one. As said, doesn't bother me, sometimes it's appropriate for whatever came up etc, but for people that are fed up of it, i get why they'd be frustrated they can't avoid it. But that doesn't mean they should be going at Dez personally, let along coming onto his thread that they should be avoiding if the whole Invacar thing bothers them and continuing it further.

And i do have a lot of sympathy for him in there, because seen it several times that he's almost been baited to comment on something, then flamed when he has. That isn't on.

From the person who spammed the fuck out the forum dropping invacars into every thread I really have to laugh. I don't think you realise just how many people you pissed off, then you complain when your thread gets taken off course slightly by some humour.

Given that you managed to put REV on its side doing a 3-point turn at 10mph, I think that's a safe assumption.

Hey! give me/REV some credit there LOL I think I was doing a bit more then 10Mph! pots hole and speed will fuck you up (take that out of context)

Was that on a flattish surface?

nah as above, I smacked a pot hole or rut or something in the grass at speed, which fired REV hard to the right where she then grip rolled/dug in on the grass,

IMG_0489.thumb.JPG.4412b788c913de7e01471b59882f08a5.JPG

it always amuses me in the photo the fact you could see and follow the 2 tracks in the grass where she dug in and went round on 2 wheels LOL thankfully she came away without nary a scratch* :) (despite the horrific noise it made!)

from my POV I was getting comfortable behind the handle bars, going up and down the paddock at speed, a bit too comfortable ! when suddenly there was a loud *bang* and I found myself rapidly heading towards said bushes while heading onto my side at the same time,

Any photos?

not of her on her side to everyone disappoint I imagine LOL, or at least none that I am aware of, everyone was quite sensible in coming to help, rather then just photographing it, and quickly righted her :)

*I however managed gouge my forehead on her bonnet catch after the fact when I was checking everything was ok, I imagine that was her biting back to say "Oi dont do that again!"

That's weird, my Dad bought D701 SWL when new! Very close match. Anyone know if it's still around? 😅

Eccentric Richard did nowt but quote his dad's expertise* and profess how he knew everything about everything but with no actual knowledge.  Everything was a "fact".He was literally Sierraman but 16.

Dez has quite a lot of knowledge, and can provide references or support the knowledge with sources / give an idea of reliability, it's just that most of it is not considered that interesting outside a /very tight circle/.

EccentricRichard was given a rough ride here, up to the point where someone found out where he lived and posted a picture of his cat sat in his living room window. I'll admit that he did gather all his car knowledge from contemporary car mags and therefore believed that his dad's E60 was the best car in the world.
