loserone
Test drove Leaf. It's a perfectly acceptable thing, not exciting but not horrible unlike most modern cars I've driven. Has some room inside and can carry five in comfort, including two in child seats. Unless I'm being totally screwy with the maths, at 8k, a bank loan over three years, plus electrickery, has roughly equal monthly costs to fuelling a borrowed Picasso. Sums now being checked by a maths teacher.

Sigmund Fraud
Test drove Leaf. A work colleague (who knows nothing about cars) has one and loves it. He does, however, find the poor autonomy (especially commuting in the winter, with lights and heater on) and charging time most irritating. loserone

trigger
I've been quietly chipping away on the old Ital Van, buying parts and cleaning bits, and it's starting to transform. Yesterday i fitted a new exhaust system which was a right sod but transformed the sound of it, also managed to get most the crap in the back gone and cleaned out, splashed out on a new battery so it even starts perfectly on the key now and runs really quietly. Today's transformation was it's first clean since 1994, I was the last person to wash it back in 1994!. This was before. I've even managed to source a saloon front spoiler for it too. Still shit loads to do but it feels more worth it now, mechanically it all seems very good, it needs new rear shoes and cylinder but i already have new cylinders and the front needs cleaning and new track rod ends but that's all to be expected. It's just the welding that's going to be the big job. junkyarddog, cort1977, Stanky and 33 others

danthecapriman
I could do, I didn't bother before as people don't seem to interested in older cars on here anymore, only the modern stuff.I'll be controversial here, but I agree with this. There doesn't seem to be that much interest on here for old stuff anymore it's mainly about 90's and 00's stuff.Maybe it's just me here seeing things that aren't there, but there seems a bit of an inverse snobbery thing at times too or an 'everything old is utter shit' attitude? Maybe I'm wrong? I've got very little interest in stuff like that tbh, so I'll ask. Can we have a classic shite section please!? Say anything pre 95 or something like that? purplebargeken and alf892

plasticvandan
The world has changed but autoshite hasn't.unfortunately unless you were one of the lucky ones that has hung on to their cars while they went from shite to pension plan, thoughts of even a half tidy allegro are now a Pipedream for the likes of me.If people hadn't moved on to newer stuff, this forum would have gone the way of many car clubs, younger people priced out, membership dying off. Guest Hooli
Aye. Shite is shite because it's old enough to be shite and therefore cheap, then it progresses to older enough for people to want it as 'shite I had when I was young' and goes up in value so it's no longer cheap shite. loserone, dome, HMC and 2 others
loserone
I could do, I didn't bother before as people don't seem to interested in older cars on here anymore, only the modern stuff.Sorry, I disagree. I think there's as much if not more interest, but the cars that autoshitists are able to buy and run at reasonable value for money have turned into 90s and 00s crap, hence there's a lot more of them being talked about. Maths has been checked, finances tentatively arranged, charge point ordered (50 mile round trip should be fine, I suppose). Good job there's a whole section for moderns so I can share pictures of my wheeltrims and cloth seats without upsetting people. trigger
It was just the impression I got and a personal thing for me, I didn't expect this much of a reacting from an off the cuff comment! 10 years ago we was posting about Itals, Soloras and Dafs, now it's more about modern stuff that I'm less interested in but that's how things have changed, shite isn't cheap anymore. danthecapriman and alf892

danthecapriman
Sorry to drag it up again guys, no harm meant by it.It's just recently I've got the impression, and it seems I might not be the only one, that I've got less and less 'in common' with this place?I dunno, it just seems there's little interest unless your poking about with a worn out Vectra or something similar. It's to the point where recently I've thought about not bothering to update any of my threads anymore since there doesn't seem any real interest other than a couple of 'likes'.Or is it subject matter? Am I now not in the right place because I like old Fords? holbeck, alf892, Christine and 1 other
holbeck
Trigger Ital thread? Yes Please. Dan's (or others) old Ford thread? Yes Please Newer stuff? Yes Please, there are plenty of interesting, quirky or unusual (and cheap) 90's cars still available. I'd like one of these as a £500 daily for a few months However, I do draw the line at a silver Audi A3 TDi thread. eddyramrod, Lacquer Peel, catsinthewelder and 5 others
