Datsuncog
Ah dude. That's rough. Even though you've said it's been on the horizon, nothing can really prepare anyone for that kinda thing. Look after yourself as well as those around you in the coming days, weeks and months. You'll all need each other. Peace and good thoughts to you all. dozeydustman
dozeydustman
Thank you gentlemen. Wife’s family are taking things a lot better than I expected them to which i guess is good. Time will tell. It is of some consolation to us all that the hospice nurses said she was comfortable at the time without being on a high dose of palliative care, and it happened very very quickly. He's bought it back as salvage and it got dropped off at the (good, expensive) bodyshop to get fixed today. Obviously on the way back he twatted his Avensis into a kerb and needs a new tyre. Plus I’m in the Saab... and that’s indestructible right? Management meeting lasted ages.... long enough for the waters to subside and me have a clear run home. ? beko1987
I've just had to boot it out of a very wet junction in the Zafira as I couldn't be arsed to move the car seat to take Charlie to nursery. After several yards of me keeping my foot down and Charlie laughing the traction control said no more fun and threw its light and the eml up... Its off now, thank fuck after a restart paulplom

Monday was a bank holiday (Queens Birthday in OZ) and I was booked on a flight early Tuesday morning. Woke up on saturday morning looked at the time (about 06:30am) when I should have been on a train to the airport had it been tuesday morning and got in a right panic about missed flights until my brain somehow sussed out it wasn't tuesday morning. paulplom

Mally
Jut back from 9 days in Spain. Taxi driver says you were lucky there, missed all the rain. Get home, ceiling papers hanging off, my roof leaks, I had put a blue sheet down in the loft but it overflowed. My builder friend* promised to do a re roof months ago. anonymous user
When I went up in the loft of my first house I discovered that it leaked along the valley where the rear extension joined. The previous owners had an ingenious system of plastic guttering slung to catch the drips and direct it back out under the eaves. So much for the survey which hadn't spotted it. I did know that the roof would need work and had a new lead valley installed when I had the rest of it fixed. stonedagain and myglaren
louiepj
Our uncles flat roof extension currently has drain tarps hanging from it with the hoses poking out the windows. Put in 'temporarily' since last year awaiting new roof. Look similar to this: stonedagain

bramz7
Just had a seriously eventful drive home. Lorry nearly took the front of the car off cutting me up on a roundabout, I beeped and flashed to tell them I was there. They went mental! Almost forced me to stop in the middle of a road, so I had to undertake and shoot past, whilst they still flashed and beeped at me almost constantly. Fucking nut case. Then the 309 throttle sticks open! FFS. Nearly crashed into the hedge in the car park. Hoping it's just a snagged cable. clayts450 and BorniteIdentity

cobblers
My mate who's still living in the mid 1990s owned my VW T5 before me, and DIY fitted a fucking sunroof because he thinks they are great. Obviously it absolutely PISSES water in every time it rains hard. Today I've got to drive 250 miles on a soaking wet seat with water pouring on my head every time I turn left. I've got the van running in outside my unit with the heaters on full, and a big industrial fan blowing at the drivers seat to try and dry it out a bit, but it's like someone poured a bucket of water over the fucking thing. stripped fred, Kiltox, Jerzy Woking and 2 others 1

barefoot
I'm off to Download festival in a few minutes... It's barely tinkling with rain at the mo. Rules say you can take a rucksack no bigger than an A4 envelope! So I'll have to wear all of the clothes I'm wearing and carry my chair, just while I pass security. Then I'll put it all into the carrier bags that I have stuffed in my pockets. And the Scirocco won't start, the ignition leads are well & truly fucked.
