gm
Mike D : is the mazda being rebuilt or has the tinworm done for it ? It's a flipping shame how many of these end up scrapped for rust when the mechanicals are so robust. Nice garage you have there, I'd love something like that, working outside is great in the summer but that can only be politely described as 'brief' round these parts
andy18s
Gave the Disco a mini service over the weekend after a small fluff of a missfire appeared. New plugs, filters and oil have turned it into a lovely smooth V8Took it up the local garage for a test run/fill and find that they've knocked 10ppl off lpg! Bonus! Mike D
gm the MX5 is getting demolished for parts for my 'sports beetle'.. the body is toast, it's full of holes and it has nasty repairs and terrible paint. I only want the oily bits anyways  Cheers on the garage comments, it has taken a while to get it all sorted!

saucedoctor
Went for a spin in my mate's new car. It's nice, fast, has loads of kit etc etc, but £66k for an A4 estate? He must have had a knock on the head.
derskine
Shittest day, woke up late, took 15 mins to defrost car, sat in traffic for 20 mins, went to get diesel, lost fuel cap key for Renault, got home, found key in footwell and to top it all off now I've got to strip as much as possible off a shitheap piss smelling 340 before it gets scrapped tomorrow, it's going to be a shit night too. AlabamaShrimp
Got a fan bypass switch fitted today. Very happy with it, but, when the bonnet opened it was creaking when closing. As it's a front tipper thought it was just being a git.  Was all over the place when closed. Turns out one hinge had totally sized and the other partially. The fully stuck one started to peel from the bonnet. Both had to heated up and then hit to get it back in place. Not amazing but then it wasn't when I started. With help it was all sorted and put back. Good job this happened at college as I would have been knackered at home Forgot to take and pictures
dugong
Weekend was a load of balls. Felt rank on Saturday; rest of the day was a write off. On Sunday I needed the KNOB VAN for an engine recovery mission later in the week, asked Junkman to drag it out for me. Aimed to take in Leek Christmas market on the way there and fart back in the KNOB VAN. Get within an hour of Junkman_Towers and VAN_DISASTER occurs. Miss most of Leek Christmas Market and drive straight back to Cambs. Clean Mazda as consolation prize. MX-3 scrubbed up quite well when stale Pringles, dog hair and three parking tickets were removed. MX-3 not happy - suspect dead shock or bush. Psychotic driving on the A52. Get in C4 to go to work and tyre explodes as I pull out of the street. NICE ONE. Now needs a new CV and a new tyre. CHEERS. WAT_REOCCURANCE. barrett
I took the BX to a local Citroen specialist to see about doing some jobs to get it through an MoT. Turns out it needs quite a bit more than I'd imagined...After a lot of discussion about the best way to proceed, I've agreed to go ahead and get it all sorted. He has quoted me a price which is virtually a month's wages, and I really can't afford to chuck a big sum at a car right now, but he has agreed to fit the work in around other jobs to keep the cost down as much as possible. I really love this car and would hate to see it scrapped, and hopefully with a bit of money spent it will soldier on for a good while yet. I know we're used to making illogical car decisions here, but I really am letting my heart rule my head, something I never do. We can rebuild him! skattrd, Bucketeer, The Moog and 7 others
Bren
SD1 has just fired up with the fiesta battery. A whiff of easy start helped a little. Now I need to sort the dripping top hose and find out why the fuel level sender has died - methinks a broken wire. wuvvum
On the way into work today I ended up behind a Maserati Ghibli. A new one. I wasn't aware such a thing existed, but assume it's a replacement for the Quattroporte. It looked to be only a few months old, but was making a nasty grinding noise from the nearside front wheel. Plus ça change... In other news, the Rover of Doom seems to have developed an oil leak, which appears to be coming from the vicinity of the turbo. Arseflaps. The constant cycle of freezing, and being run up to temp doesn't help them. They settle back down in the end, usually about March.

Geep
Daughter phoned to say her Matiz lost drive/made a horrible noise when she turned in to junction. She got it towed back and put on drive but before I drove 100 miles to sort it, I said try and find out what it is or what exactly happened. A friend of hers had a look today and she sent me this pic.    Thoughts of broken CV joint/gearbox and laying on cold wet ground for a few hours now eliminated.  Chap she knows will do it for her today. Final report later tonight but fingers crossed all will be well. *Why does it always upload pics in landscape? cobblers

Wackeldackel
At work today, the smug smarmy S class merc driving property developer/doctor's husband mentioned in my spotted thread passed by to look at some work being done on their latest acquisition, a former pub/hotel in a little village. Me being nosey I chanced my arm and engaged him in conversion about his Mercedes and I wheedled my way inside the former function room of this former pub to be greeted with the following;       The red one is a 1954 Volvo 444, there's a Porsche 924 and 928 in there too, the early W126 S class mercedes I previously photographed and just for good measure a special edition smart car. Special edition how I'm not sure.  Was going to put this in the grumpy thread, grump being I wasn't allowed to lift the covers and see anything properly. edited due to general fat fingeredness and stupid photo bucket WANKER¥£&&TOSSRAG$@^bollocks, and also because TABLET. barrett
Oh dear. Wazzup? Is the pressure regulator still leaking?Citroen man's guess is that it is the flow valve (is that what it's called) that is leaking and dripping over the regulator.. It'll all be cleaned up to check, if it's the regulator then it should be an easy fix. The coupling on the steering has gone, loads of play and a frightening tendency to veer off course. Both front uprights (dunno what you call them in BX terms) are leaking and have gone off-centre from the hubs. And various other things.Good news is that a thorough poke around underneath didn't reveal any rot, and after a blat up the bypass he declared the engine and box to be sweet (but we all knew that). I don't suppose any of the previous owners on here know if/when the cambelt was last done? derskine
Hopefully get 340 sorted tonight, need to take starter off and fit a new screw and some loctite to the solenoid, one appears to have disappeared, causing the solenoid to flap about and cause non starting and some strange noises.Problem is I need to get the car into the unit and it's parked 40m away, the starter is pretty much off so it'll need to be bump started - fun. cort16
I recon I'm going to have to sell the CL500 in the new year. Hopefully I can latch onto some new year YOLO I want a v8 spirit and shift it. It's not that I don't like it or don't want to keep. If it fitted in my lockup it'd be a different story but because Harry Fuckknuckle here didn't consider that before bidding on it it's now sitting on my drive where it's A: A pain in the hole to get off the drive because it's in front of my Juke and I have to fuck about swapping them around if I want to use it.B: My Mrs can't get the pram with cort16 JNR down the drive because there's a sodding great CL500 sitting clogging it up.C: My Juke's weak arsed handbrake is barely clinging on sitting behind the Merc on my steep drive and I fear it's going to let go and run someone over or launch itself into the garden across the street if I keep doing it. If I had a car that'd go in my lockup then on the days I wanted to use it I could drive the Juke down to the lockup, take car out, put Juke in and be on my merry way. scruff
