  1. To be honest I'm probably going to chuck it into the Morris Leslie auction and see what it makes when I'm done, hopefully with some profit to offset the fuel costs over the next couple of months.
  2. Yep Paris blue, it's a keeper for sure - not sure about the XJ40 in that respect but it scratches an itch I've had.
  3. Yeah when I went to see it I was expecting it to be a bit tatty/average but it's pristine and drives beautifully. The only broken thing is the cruise control which I think is pretty decent for one of these. Also yes, I've never experienced something that floats along so well!
  4. After a bit of a car buying hiatus, I've truly went above and beyond. First is this 1986 Ford Capri 1.6 Laser. I've always wanted a Capri and decided now was finally the time to get one. It's in pretty good nick. Just need to get the bonnet painted but otherwise it doesn't really need much. I was really torn between a V12 Jaguar XJS and the Capri but I definitely made the right choice. Which brings me onto the next purchase. With my 190D's impending MOT failure, I needed something to drive to work whilst I sort it out (rear suspension needs renewed entirely), so I was on the lookout for something cheap, reliable and economical. I ticked the cheap box at £1400 but I veered significantly off course on the other two with this Jaguar XJ40 3.2S... Really I think this was a bit of a bargain....
  5. The thing is, with the compressor he was expecting me to drop £200 off the final price as well 😅
  6. I had a guy who agreed to buy my Imp and collect it on Saturday. Most of it was on the phone, but I'll try to recount it. The initial phone call was... interesting, 30 mins of talking about his hernias, Madmax films and other random shit; about 30 seconds talking about the car. Saturday came and he asked me if I would take credit card as payment as his wife was paying for it, I said no, obviously. He then said he was transferring the money from the card into his bank account but it was taking ages so can he come tomorrow, I said cool, I'm going out anyway. He texts later to say "he's lifted cash for it now". Sunday now, and he messages me when he was meant to come pick it up saying he can't wake his wife up which means she doesn't want to pay for it (thought he had "lifted cash"), can he leave a compressor as deposit and collect it next week. I swiftly told him no and within a couple of hours someone else has agreed to come and collect it. I really hate selling cars.
  7. I'd suggest that you can diagnose if it's a fuel pump/needle valve issue, by getting it to a state where it won't start and then removing the top of the carb to see if there is actually any fuel in the float bowl. This will likely save you chasing your tail a bit and rule that out if not.
  8. I was recently forced to emerge from my car fixing hiatus when some nob rear ended me. It turned out okay given that mostly when I do this it turns out shit.
  9. I'm very saddened to have heard this, he was a great guy. Kind beyond belief and always willing to help. He will be hugely missed. My condolences to Reb and family.
  10. Brilliant, some shitpeas excellence right here.

Definitely engine earth strap. I was welding my Volvo 340 a while ago and the throttle cable caught fire.
  12. Anything to do with doors or springs.
