And not surprisingly for these it started right away and the engine ran perfectly even on 2 year old petrol. Is really a shame that previous owners did not bother to rust protect this from new as it would have been on the road still i they did but 20 years and 330,000 km in use without ever refusing to start or breaking down is pretty good. The next thing that awaits this is the baler. Perfectly capable engines in these things, I've just put a set of tyres on a 2001 Yaris Verso (so the bloated brother, but still the same 1.3 engine) and it had just over 280,000 miles on it! So just under 450,000 km. It wasn't very rusty so you're exactly right, if the bodywork is looked after then they would last a very long time Dyslexic Viking

I have seen a Yaris Verso 1.3 with 650,000 km on it and there was recently a regular 1 liter Yaris of this generation with 450,000 km for sale here both were still on the original driveline. My biggest problem with these is that Toyota could have made them so much better when it comes to comfort and being a nice place to be. My 2nd generation Hyundai i10 feels like an expensive luxury car in comparison. RoverFolkUs

Never really see engine or gearbox issues from them. It's usually rust that kills them, as per what happened with the one you posted about

But it is not very common. Rust is the biggest problem as you say. On this one the front strut towers, sills, fuel tank pipes for this, rear wheel arches, all doors, front fenders and more are all bad. I had some welding on it 5 years ago and no wonder they rust both beams that go under the floor in front were full of water. RoverFolkUs

They're proper cool as there's nothing more jarring than a modern radio in an old car interior, but way too much money for a peasant like me. I have to make do with a bluetooth tape cassette in the original Blaupunkt radio 😅 Good buy though, the radio looks spot on mate.

It’s fine connects to both my iPod and dab adaptor. I also fitted a cut out switch to the electric aerial to stop it popping up when the radio was switched on. wuvvum
Took the Jag for a blat up the coast road yesterday evening as I figured (correctly) that most of the bank holiday caravans would have fucked off home by then and the weather would be keeping the dawdling Sunday giffers at home. It definitely feels happier for having had a bit of a clear-out (it did chuck out a fair bit of clag the first time I floored it) but it's still a little bit chuggy on occasion when pottering around. When driven hard it's fine - it pulls and sounds as it should. I think I'm going to have to find someone with the proper Jaguar software and get it plugged in as it isn't throwing up any fault codes so it's going to be a case of measuring injector flows, DPF pressure, EGR operation etc. to see if that can determine what's causing the occasional splutter. I did say when I bought the car that I wouldn't spend any money on it and if it went wrong I'd sack it off, but I've grown to rather like it so if it can be sorted for a couple of hundred quid it's worth doing. mitsisigma01, BL Bloke, Back_For_More and 5 others
OM646
So, I was looking for an OEM looking stereo to fit in my Aldi, but supporting AUX and MP3 discs etc I figured out the best one would be a SEAT Alana MP3 from a Mk3 Ibiza, with full red lighting matching the Audi interior perfectly. Stumbled upon this unit in a drum on the scrapyard. I asked "how much?" "Nothing, it's broken, won't turn on" As an Electronics Engineering student I accepted the challenge. Opened it up to check for faults and everything seemed okay. Well, WCPGW? I hooked it up Fired right up. Doesn't look jarring or terrible in the dash, just protruding the slightest bit in the bottom. And matches perfectly in the night Dyslexic Viking, Coprolalia, Rust Collector and 8 others
trigger
My new 240 Torslanda arrived on Saturday morning, I'm still questioning why I bought it though?! Probably not one of my wisest purchases! It was a bit rustier than I expected but to be fair to it the car starts and runs absolutely spot on and sounds great. It seems that it was owned by the last owner from 2004 until last November when it was moted having been unused for a year and then promptly crash and ended up with banger racers who raffled it off and a chap I know won it and has had it in his garden since. I gave it a pressure wash and a very quick mop and the paint came up so I got it in the garage and started stripping the damaged bits off Which was pretty straightforwards, it's all mostly superficial but the hard part now will be finding the correct parts without spending too much I did give the side a quick mop this afternoon to motivate me and it came up looking well so it's got potential, I'm not sure if the alleged 49000 miles is genuine or not but I wouldn't be surprised. As a bonus I also managed to get the radio code from the main dealer too! Joey spud, paulplom, BeEP and 34 others

Wow, not something I'd seen or heard of before. Does it have the facility to change the backlighting colours? Having something not jarring and modern would be a bit lost if it's the wrong colour... Very easy to set too, with each channel on a setting of 0-16. The menus are very easy to navigate too, and the up/down and tuning buttons work as skip buttons on the Bluetooth as well as ff/rew. loserone and Zelandeth 1
