Ever since I changed the bumper the tailpipes have been hidden.. well as you know I'm an old boy racer at heart ( sponsored by lisinopril meds ) and feel the tail pipes should be poking out and showing the remus brand.. so wd40.. 17mm and wire wool and they are better... and no I don't suffer with ocd.

Facebook reminded me that it has been 2 years since we purchased the Green and white 2CV… the major welding required has been done, but it needs the wings replacing and then the main body shell given a damn good rub down and a couple of bits filled and then painted.

So today (after much garage tidying to make it accessible) I made a proper start.

Wings removed and the brand new rear wings primered ready to paint and then refit. The second hand front wings I bought don’t look as good as I remember, so I need to check if they’re actually better than the originals before I repaint them.

Buoyed by this… I decided to celebrate the jubilee!

It's here!!😀

Many thanks to @Inspector Morose and @worldofceri for their excellent collection and delivery service.

It's definitely exactly as described and the engine is smooth right from startup. So unless it's lost 5th or something, we're all good!

Delighted to have a Cav back on fleet again.

Lovely old thing, that was sadly robbed of its plate last year, now wears the age related plate BF9483, Bloody fool indeed...

image.thumb.png.a7d5410882295ec9db6c6bc9432e7d62.png

over 90 years it managed to hang onto its plate, only to be robbed of it recently by someone probably just wanting to make a quick buck

*many grumbles*

curiously it shows on the DVLA as blue LOL

(said original plate is currently on retention last having been assigned to said Austin 7, I think the plate is now for sale here https://www.plates4less.co.uk/personalised-number-plate/JG386 )

If @egg's pics are recent, it's got the wrong plate on now?

indeed wrong plate and wrong colour

so something iffy is going on!

or maybe its just a show plate which someones "borrowed" from another 7?

or maybe someone sold the mark but thought "fuck it im leaving the original plate on it on for giggles" LOL

I mean who would realistically check while its out and about...

special paid for commercial tool that I use mainly for Invacar research which I have thrown far too much money at!

this Austin 7 was getting the better of my curiosity so I fed it in to see its fine details :)

(I could see with https://www.carbaba.co.uk/ that the reg mark was only on retention and still last on the Austin 7 it came off of so this gave me enough info to find its current plate, if the plate had been already assigned to another vehicle then I would not of been able to find its current plate)

Nope what's that?

We went on to York designer outlet from there. I've put nearly a thousand miles on the 107 in the last week.

I went to Bromyard festival of speed* last week. Averaging 80-90 mph I got a real world 59mpg with it. It's very long geared and seems very happy at 85 which is about 3250rpm.

They have a much bigger and new garage/compound/storage around 4 miles along the road, at a industrial estate just before Pickering. There are photos in the bangers and cash thread in the open pages.
