Well spotted @UltraWomble. I had a look but was immediately put off by the 'meet your YouTube people'. No disrespect to any Toobers or what they do, but if I'm going it's for the cars, not 'personalities'.

One thought I had: how about a critical mass of shiters invades an otherwise snooty event? Fill up the car park with the bASe Sierra, Rovers galore and some Cavaliers with iffy paint. Then all the MGB beards get their nose out of joint.

I was thinking that would be fun at Caffeine and Machine which is nearish to me. It's a very 'Pistonheads' type venue especially at weekends so it would be good to sabotage it with shite.

We should do this. Many, many times!

I took the Sierra to PH event one year. We were made to feel very unwelcome; felt like lepers who’d escaped the colony and were storming the nudist beach.

Never ever again.

This sounds like Chodmondely.

Turning up in the beige 305 "let me guess, club Austoshambles?"

Best car show I've ever been to.

You want to try turning up to a Classic Mini show in a Bini - and we were only popping in for a quick shufti. Didn't get past the car park.....

I’ve seen online they’re planning to do a show again this year. When I know, I’ll post the dates and get organising! It’s great fun!

Being given our own little patch of grass way,way at the back.

Oh it’s an auto? SHAME. I bet it would be really nice as a manual, the manual would be way faster, the manual would be better to drive, the manual would solve my piles etc, etc…

On topic though, awards are kind of poo. How would you award for a bangerfest? Shittest car? Least shit car? Most bodges implemented to barely scrape an MOT? The Piers Corbyn award for best in show Cavalier?

Car you'd least like to take home/on a long trip/to an MOT.

Car which would be least appropriate to take grieving family to a funeral.

Car which you'd most like to borrow for a week.

Just bought a Rustival ticket, it asked if I wanted to park with others from a club, name the club so I put Autoshite in the box.

Only the minor problem of getting the car to run now.

Friendship corner gives me the boak, could they rename it awkward sad bastard corner instead?

Also it seems a little bit too inclusive, letting anything with wheels in seems like a sure fire way of having modern barryboy car clubs taking over with stuff that nobody really wants to see.

I haven’t been to a FoTU since they stopped holding them nr Buckingham, have they turned into a competition for the rarest over-restored car from the 1970s or something then?

Imagine turning up in a VW K70, thinking you’ll be a shoe-in for rarest shite and being trounced by someone who bought the only RHD Dacia Denem left in existence anywhere in the world.

There will be a significant group of people who would enjoy that though, so let them and carry about looking at the shite you want to look at?

Great memories!

I knew there was at least 1 that needed assistance, but couldn't remember which.

That pic needs to be on a calendar page,if not the cover.

I don’t understand to be honest, I’d get it if there was going to be something like Festival of The unexceptional, but no offence to people why would I want to go and have a chat in a field to meet some bloke that’s just bought an Insignia in limp cock mode for £1500

That would be an interesting warning light..

I agree, I have no interest in going to YouTube meets, you can just imagine the kind of people that will be there. No thanks. Without a minimum age it will be full of moderns as well.

FOTU can get in the sea as well. It started off well but Hagerty have got very greedy, looking at pictures from the last couple they’re full of modern cars now and the entry price is ludicrous.

Piston heads come across as a bunch of rich wankers who look down their noses at ‘lesser’ cars (such as the Sierra) so that doesn’t appeal at all, although it sounds a laugh invading their snooty meet they would genuinely be angry and upset if we did and the atmosphere wouldn’t be very fun.

I find local static classic meets really boring. Road runs are a lot more enjoyable but there don’t seem to be many.

Dear God! I didn't spot the fwendship corner bit when I purchase tickets, doesn't seem very Autoshite does it? There definitely needs to a be an awkward introvert corner with strictly policed social distancing and a healthy lack of eye contact.

Mind you I am looking forward to mooching around 349 red MGBs with tartan blankets and one Mighty Dacia in the Exhibitor area........

For any of us within reach, the Lakeland Motor Museum (A590 at Backbarrow) hosts an eclectic meet on the first Saturday of every month, all year round.  Just about any "loved" old car is welcome.  My 20 year old Jag isn't always the youngest there; but just yards away will be a hundred year old Bentley, and everything in between.  Original, patinated, restored, we've got them all, from a motorbike to a lorry.  You can interact with people as much or as little as you want to and there are no prizes most of the time.  Some of our number have visited before.

We do a retro car meet on the last Sunday of every month. Winter in Kinross is free to enter and spring/summer at the Scottish vintage bus museum is an optional £4 donation per car.

No stalls or burger vans or traders. Bus museum has a cafe selling cold sandwiches and cheap hot and cold drinks.

Putting on an event like this doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

Anything with sharpies and sticky labels reminds me of embarrassing 'ice-breakers' at work meetings.

I fucking hate those ‘tell us something we don’t know about you’ things. I always have the urge to say something really inappropriate just to shut them up like ‘I’ve been having an affair with my neighbour for 6 months’.

I enjoyed FOTU in 2022 but didn't enjoy all the "characters" going about talking shite into their  vlogging cameras to an audience of 12.
