Guest Hooli
Talking of Heinz, there was a really interesting documentary on BBC about their factory at Wigan, if you missed it you can get it on ketchup. chadders, Banger Kenny and oldcars

willswitchengage
Probably old news for you but at the weekend I enjoyed a trip to the Brooklands Museum with my professional institute, the IMechE. Essentially a giant yard filled with old motorcycles (stunning priceless Brough examples), bicycles (as above), cars (which I wasn't that interested in) and old British civil airliners which made you wonder where it all went wrong. I've never really been interested in Concorde before but learning about it was absolutely fascinating. With the London Buses Museum on site too one could easily spend a whole day there, which we did. Unusual highlight. Four speed! I assume this was a jet engine snow plough Bus porn BAC 111. Looks a lot comfier than the expensive seat classes you get on planes now yellowperil, mercrocker, CGSB and 3 others

Guest Hooli
Last time I went to Brooklands was about 2004, I won the autotest at the Midget & Sprite club 50th anniversary for Spidgets. I then retired from competition undefeated. Still amuses me how pissed off the second place bloke looked. He'd taken the spare etc out the car to make it lighter, it was tuned & tweaked & he appeared to take things seriously. I had a standard 1500 with a passenger & my Jack Russel sat on the shelf behind the seats. Oh & silly hats. willswitchengage, xtriple, CGSB and 4 others
108
Correct. The third one is a "PP". All of them have working inside valve gear. The show was Scaleforum - held every year in Stoke Mandeville. Thanks for that. I'll try to get over for the show next year. Inside valve gear in 4mm is almost a dark art. Tadhg Tiogar
Another PPI reclaim has come up, so that's more money for the CX gearbox fund. ... Inside valve gear in 4mm is almost a dark art. Until I started doing it for myself, I'd have agreed with this. But once you understand how the parts fit and work together, it's not necessarily difficult at all. Here's a crank axle I put together: Sloth in a bowl

xtriple
After days of faffing about with Jag and a voltmeter that says it has bugger all electrickery left in it ( though it always starts easily enough) I was pleased to read 12.20 volts on a well rested battery that had done some recent work. So I am going to assume (oh dear...) that I do have an electrical system and a set of clocks that lie like an MP.

yellowperil
It's a bit sad really, but after last week's hospital shenanigans i am sitting here hardly able to get out of my chair, my blood count has gone up to 86 from 69, it apparently should be 130...Anyway I am bored and useless, the local BBC station have a theme at lunchtime, they choose a subject and will play requests related to it. Today's theme was cars, so I went in a request for Elvis Presley Cortina Trap... I got it played and made the DJ laugh, a career in local radio awaits. dome, cort1977, stonedagain and 2 others

Bobthebeard
Some of you may recall the tatty and slightly broken Mercury Sable I bought from our Eddy on here a couple of years ago. Repaired it and then decided it would be a great idea to turn it into a replica NYPD cop car and move it on. It would likely live longer and be more desirable etc etc...Did that and sold it on down Sarf after a couple of successful car shows and bookings. Recently Mrs Beard got a text message from one of her friends stating "The Police car that Bob did up is in a car show in Lytham"! We were away, so excitedly I asked her to take a picture or two and forward them. Couldn't believe the car was still around, and back up north two years later. She had seen, and been in the car so must recognise it.....Wrong. How she ever thought......Oh never mind. Made me laugh. Comments on taste optional. beko1987
Further to my post in the new news thread on the modern forum, I'd just about come to terms with spending the day at a yarn festival that my step mum and step sister want to go to, but poor health means they'll struggle to drive, so I've stepped in... Turns out dad was planning on kicking them out of the car at the venue before it came to a stop then going to find trains for the day! Settle and Carlisle is close apparently. Then if we get back early enough he wants to go to speedway, which sounds good to me. I've just got to drive a 2017 1.8 Zafira C 300 miles... If dad's too tired to drive to Harlow from Peterborough I'll shove him in the gooner and get up the road!
