Weird that I don't remember such a thing, my Dad had an A reg Cavalier L and it's the sort of thing I thought I would remember, being fascinated by cars from a young age.

Locking aerial, isn't it? I'm guessing I'm about two years older than you and I have a vague recollection that the idea was to prevent little scrotes pulling up your aerial and snapping the bugger off. In reality,  I'd imagine around 0.00001% of the population bothered locking their aerials and everyone else left it to fate.

There needs to be a corner of the world reserved for C6s to die with dignity. A place where they are treated with respect and kept away from morons who don't understand them.

Pallastive care would be given, and their lives celebrated.

Cignitas.

Yup. There was a phase of idiots pulling up and snapping off. Remember, these were the answer to whip aerials.

That's been up and down the country in the last 6 months! Really fancied it but I don't have the space for it, like most!

Got to say if it was a normal size crown vic i'd have bought it when it was for sale on here first time round, but unlike normal, extra length isnt better in this case

Drove my old Bosses V12 convertible one of these quite a bit a few years ago now. Bloody great cars, but why would you paint it that colour? why? WHY?

It kind of looks like BMW techno violet in this picture. I'm sure @Schaefft will know.

They didn't do an 8 series convertible that I know of, was it a custom job?

I think Techno Violet is darker but it's definitely a rare color, I'm not sure if I'm a fan in this case though as I'd want it to be darker. Might be Violet Blue. Rear arches are crusty though so keying the whole car probably didn't cause a lot of damage, it would need a near complete respray no matter what. No convertibles unless someone chopped the roof off.

It does look a bit like that colour but not quite to my eye.

Youve tested my memory somewhat here it was a BMW dealership i worked in and it was the MD's company car, i wonder if im thinking of an 840i convertible and the later car he had was the v12?  I cant remember it was nearly 30  years ago now.

Id have sworn it was an E31 convertible of some sort, maybe im imagining it, drove a lot of different BMW's back then

BMW is said to have built as many as three E31 cabriolets;  one red 850 is in BMW Classic's collection, and can be viewed by the public.
If your boss had one, conversions were carried out to 20 or so LHD cars by Styling Garage, who called it 'Monte Carlo'.
I believe an NFL player in the US had one done by a workshop Stateside, too.

Might it have been a Styling Garage car?

Could well have been, He did have a few LHD cars as well as RHD ones. A lot of the Alpina re-worked cars were LHD B3 B6 etc

First thing I bought and fitted to my Morris Minor in the early 1990s was a whip aerial, followed by wheel spacers on the rear, a pair of mk1 Fiesta front seats from a rotten breaker and a decent Alpine stereo setup.

The ladies loved that motor! 😂

2015 ssangyong turismo 7 seats 2.0 diesel | eBay

Funny how eBay's flowery estate agent-esque wording fails to mention the main selling point, namely that Ssangyong Turismo Diesel is an anagram of 'So silty dangerous minge' isn't it?
