XJ8 with battle scars and needs an MoT.
MoT history hints at some undercarriage work maybe needed - yours for £700

Product photo of 1998 Jaguar XJ

This is really hardly worth more than scrap value without mot. God knows how long it's parked on grass, it would most likely need £££ in welding even if it wasn't.

There's 1,001 cars under £1000 within an hour's drive from here that fit into to 'fer fecks sake just scrap it' category - you can up that to £2,000 'barn finds' if you look in Classic Cars on eBay.
It's got to the point where there's not much point in looking at the sub £1500 ones as 99% of them are simply dire - there's the odd diamond in the rough (plus it's better than doom scrolling FaceBook)

If it helps keeping good cars off the oval/scrapyard that's not a bad thing. Unfortunately X300/308s with poor bodywork are universally fucked and don't really belong anywhere else. Maybe a useful parts car.

Meanwhile, here's something from the opposite end of the quality of engineering spectrum, an 87k mile V6 Camry with practically one owner for 2750 quid.

Everyone needs a car with pop up headlights.  Hours of fun.

Not when one doesn't pop up

I had a 1988 celica from 90-93

One headlight didn't pop up so I took it apart, small electric motor with a worm drive

Back in the day when parts departments had parts in stock I trotted off to the Toyota dealer with my motor

Have you got one of these

Yes

Brilliant, I'll take it

Plonks tiny box on the counter, spins the invoice round, fuck me, £125 + vat

I thought it'd be about £30

Have you seen the price banger racers will pay for things these days? 2-4k for some is fine, sometimes more. It’s not cheap cars that get raced anymore

The only good news there is that with a bit of luck they've burned through their funds a lot quicker then.

I remember buying them for £300 with MOT. They were fun times

My X300 XJ6 has never been welded and won't need it soon. It's just not rusty

Or you could visit this absolute thundering weapon of a dealer asking £4k for a V6:

Pretty sure it's been there for a good nine months so far.

Overpriced but I really love their styling and the V6 is super rare. Needs to be a manual though and you might as well get a Xedos 6.

Meanwhile, here's a cheap LS460 for under 3 grand, which sounds like a steal despite the high tax bracket.

So do I! I remember Car magazine running a feature about all cars looking the same in 1990, but it's one of my favourite styling eras.

'This is particularly true of the nose treatment: the ‘face’ of a car. All three makers – as well as number of continental manufacturers – have settled on the droop nose/narrow horizontal grille/shallow tapered headlamps treatment for every model in their range. It’s plainly a shape people like.'

Transit mk3 project | eBay

Correctly engined Transit in Hereford. You could have a nice day out cheese rolling, then come back up the A49 just listening to that engine note as you thrash it between the gears.

Bloody hell, that's for nowt! The MOT history doesn't look too scary either.
