Automatic ✔️

ULEZ compliant ✔️

Room for a mobility scooter ✔️

Towbar fitted so gr8 4 towing Invacares ✔️

Looks a bit shit so unlikely to attract the attention of London council estate ne'er-do-wells ✔️

its a shame that does not have a ramp or otherwise it would be a serious contender, (insurance is a reasonable £1K)

could stock up on Derby 100 lightbulbs while I was in the area too

One for the 'Cars you never knew exisited' thread? Ive never seen this model of Megane as an estate before (I'll bet the missing trim piece from the top of the tailgate will be easy* to source)

It's got a towbar, put the scooter on a trailer.

Edit: or something like this could be rigged up in the boot.

Funny, I posted the same thing (well, different car) a few weeks ago. It actually looks alright, but they can't have sold many

Be like Miss SL, but with over 120,000 fewer miles on the clock and a hatchback:

That seller comes up quite a lot on here. Look at the deciduous trees in the other photos - they were taken probably six months ago. He seems to really struggle to shift his stock.

Colour change, tinted windows, removal of rear seats

I think the rear seats are detachable anyway, some of them had tinted windows from new, colour change?  Ok these things should be declared, but how much difference will they actually make to the premium?

Do certain colours attract higher premiums or does the fact you've changed the colour in itself cause a higher premium?  Or is it more just that any change from standard so you should declare it?

Daft question, but if you have the colour of your alloys changed, say from silver to grey when refurbed, should you declare that as well?

Indeed, I've seen his ad's quite often over the years. He seems to do well in hoovering up tidy-looking older models, wonder if he's buying direct from dealers or through trade auctions?

You’re right re seats - I’m just stating the facts that if someone physically removes seats and permanently runs without them, it’s a declarable modification rather than someone folding their rear seats for a run to the tip.

Re the tints, that excuse won’t wash - they’re clearly blacked out side windows and are non standard, ignorance isn’t bliss - It’s a modification.

The simple answer is it could potentially make a massive difference. I fairly regularly get customers come to me saying they’ve called their insurer to declare a minor mod and now they’ve been given 7 days to find alternate cover. For someone like LBF there’s a potential he’ll a quote wiped out completely as a young, inexperienced driver.

Believe it or not a few months back I had someone approach me desperately needing help as their insurer had cancelled their insurance because they'd called called to let them know they’d had PPF fitted. Clear fucking protective wrap. Mental.

The colour itself shouldn’t, there are myths about certain colours being involved in more accidents but relatively speaking it’s bollocks

Its the fact its modified, your typical mainstream insurers like Churchill, Direct Line etc will flat out refuse to cover most mods, whereas specialists like where I work will actually often offer a reduced premium with modifications.

Re the wheel colour, its down to the insurer but yes technically unless you have the wheels refurbed in silver if they were silver from the factory, black if black from the factory etc - a like for like colour (pedantic brigade I don’t mean down to the colour code, just the actual colour being the same)

If the seats are designed to be removable as a feature of the car then is it still declarable if they’re taken out?

I think it’d be a very grey area, if someone was for example a gardener and had a Citroen Picasso so removed the detachable seats and used it as a van for business, I think it’s fair to say most insurers would want to have it declared as a permanent modification.

I know there are some insurers that are stupidly anal, if you speak to the right people it should be no real issue at all but it’s also very case dependent I’d say.

Isn't that just a standard Kangoo with the rear seat missing?  It hasn't got a lowered floor.

Yep - not a converted van, no lowered floor/ramp, uncut rear bumper, standard doors etc.  Straightforward van.  You might want to investigate boot hoists for a scooter/wheelchair as an alternative to a converted van.  Unless you need one converts have some significant drawbacks - small fuel tanks for 1 (mines 20 litres!)
