It looks as though you have stopped the car half way up the ramps?

It was up enough to get the bumper off - my idea being I could rest the bumper on the ramps.

Any guesses what this will be? I can't tell yet. Missed it driving off, but the number plate on the rear is white and says        PROVA

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   B081

Interesting. ...

Just checked. The plate is a Bologna registration,  reading "BO" rather than just "B". PROVA test plates are commonly used by car manufacturers and dealers for prototype and product testing.

New Ferrari models were often shown in the press carrying "PROVA MOxxxxxxx" plates. "MO" in this case being Modena, home of Ferrari and balsamic vinegar.

So which manufacturer was based in Bologna?

Pardon my ignorance, but I’m struggling to spot the bother.

Just having had to go out for the third time chasing a prescription, the door light cover decided to forcefully eject itself from the car when I opened the door and tried very hard to get itself run over by other traffic.  You'd be surprised how far it managed to get away from my car!

I like how many sports racers of the late 50s and 60s were “testing” most works Ferrari’s- testarossa, p cars etc with a quick sprayed over stencil and AVANTI! Later Fiorano was built which gave them more options.

At least your light covers come off, the covers on my XJ6 are so firmly wedged in place you need to prise them along with a screwdriver, not something you want to be doing with a 35 year old piece of plastic!

Is the little locking screw a self tapper or a proper machine screw? I’ve got a 50/50 mix.

It should be a machine screw I believe.  Obviously I'm now missing one!

Car is off in for new discs and pads on Tuesday now, was supposed to be this Wednesday but Pete forgot. He is a hopeless sod, he really is! However, he is a bloody fine mechanic who actually likes his job (rare) and always does a superb and thorough job. He just needs to learn how to charge now as he is way too cheap! He is the guy that serviced the CLK and the XJ-S last year and charged me about a hundred quid for each of them and that included MOTing them!

Okay, a tiny bit more for the MOT but he really is too cheap.

I requested he got Brembo brake discs and pads and I want the fluid changing etc and a good checkover while he's at it, He  just suggested he's going to charge me a couple of hundred all in. Maybe £250.

However, his garage really should be condemned as a health hazard! It's a proper old skool oil ingrained dirt floor place and it's full of old chod and the collected detritus of 30 years in one place. I love the place but I do remember to always wipe my feet on the way out to save the road from getting dirty :)

Unbelievably, I recieved a parcel this morning. For the first time ever, a Fathers day pressie BEFORE Fathers day! I always get a pressie but usually a week late.

This looks utterly fantastic and it is nearly killing e waiting until sunday to ruin it.

It is a self assembly thing from a company called 'Ugears' and is comprised of nearly 400 bits...

Oil coolers and some other parts for the CX run over to the workshop. Have seen the entire cylinder head resting on a bench there....

Something you don’t really want to see - a bit like heart surgery on nearest and dearest,

Not been the greatest of days!

SWMBO’s Hyundai Matrix has failed miserably on the MOT. It needs new front and rear subframes, two tyres and a load of brake pipes and a pair of wishbones. Plus the fact the clutch is ready to pop has consigned it to the finish line. SWMBO is devastated (and so am I, truth be told). We are now hunting for a decent MPV size thing for about £1500 budget. It has to be 100000% safe or else she won’t drive it.

So after this shocker, I thought I’d go and tinker with Dudley the Micra and get that ready for it’s MOT. The plan being that when that passes then SWMBO could use it just to get us out of a muddle. I fired it up after being sat for 6 weeks and it sounded a bit lumpy but settled down. I then moved it across the garden onto some hard standing and left it to run for 20 minutes to get everything moving again.

This turned out to be a bad idea. I came back out after a swift cup of tea to find the temp gauge stuck firmly in the red, the fan going batshit crazy and a large quantity of white smoke coming off the engine and exhaust. It’s probably fair to say that it’s toast. So that’s gonna get fragged in the next few days.

Ho-hum. Morale at an all time low.

Hopefully Dudley isn't kettled.... But if he is what sort of Micra is he, where is he and is he available for donating parts to help others live on.?

Any chance of pictures please.

Sorry for your losses ?

It’s all there, even has a mostly full service history. In my rage and upset I took the wheeltrims off but they can go back on no problem. It’s in South Norfolk, Close to the Suffolk border. If anyone wants to offer me money then speak now. I’ll be ringing the scrapman tomorrow morning.

Is the tempest the "racy" one?, I haven't even looked at my Micra since lockdown, mines only a 1 litre, I can't even remember how many doors ?...

Micra engines are readily available aren't they, looks too good to scrap.

If it's going for scrap or to an oval track near you are the wheels, tyres and front and back lights any good, I'm gonna have to go round and see what state my one is in to see if there's any other bits possibly needed.

Hold fire on the phone call to the scrappy??

No, it’s the 1.0 16V jobbie. It doesn’t have an MOT as I was in the process of getting one. It does really need a new CV joint on the O/S but I have a brand new one ready to go on.

Ok I’ll hold fire for the moment, it would need to go whole rather than in parts as I’m not in the mood for breaking it to be fair.
