I haven't watched Topgear once since I heard that he was going to be a presenter. Cannot STaND the utter twat. When that advert he's on comes on the telly I have to pause it then fast forward thru it so I don't have to see his gurning mince or hear his hideous voice.

I'm not keen on him in case you didn't understand me what with being so subtle and that...

Currently testing a mixture of stain remover and fullers earth to see if the assorted Citroën stains can be removed from the paving....

Seems to be working reasonably well - let us know how you ultimately get on as my Citrones stains can be seen on Google Earth

Hooray, the diesel injection pump specialist has received the BX injector pump, provided a (expensive but not insane) quote, and I'll be getting that back in 10 or so days.  Tools to finish putting the Princess back together are on their way too, and that's right on the brink of running again.  I even managed to find a replacement headlight adjuster plastic thingy for the BX which should hopefully sort that droopy headlight.  Patience is paying off, by July I should have both cars operational again, I hope.

Hope they take the repair costs out of the idiot's pocket.

Haven't been able to stomach any of the new shows since he appeared...which is a shame as I really enjoy Chris Harris, both his presenting style and that he's a proper car nerd and just enough of a hooligan when allowed.

Sad seeing a Diablo bashed anyway... they're one of relatively few of the really silly supercars I like.  Preferably the SV in that eye searing neon metallic orange though...even better if it's got the purple alcantara with the neon orange stitching in the interior.  It's an utterly bonkers car and it knows it.  Such a quantum leap from the Countach though, aside from being huge presenting a few challenges the Diablo is actually pleasant to drive.  Air conditioning is still pants though!

Today I fitted the vectra's bumper brackets. Off with the bumper - 20200617_111527.thumb.jpg.759499d8d450805ba2a35998998209bf.jpg

the brackets were held on with ali rivets. I have rivets and a gun but once they are on you cannot adjust them - I used screws instead.

The offending part - the top screw in the wheel arch should pull the sliding bracket towards you. Ours were broken.

The end result is a much better ( but not perfect) fit. The only fly in the ointment is that the air con radiator looks shagged - aluminium fins everywhere.

More expense.

Has anyone ever seen a stretched limousine turned into a pick up truck?  I don't mean a stretched limo pick up truck, I've seen those, where you take a pick up truck and stretch the cab to make it a 'limo'.  I mean taking something like a stretched Lincoln Towncar and chopped the cabin space down to make it into a pickup truck.

There must be one.  I bet it's in Florida.

It's a local car and a regular spot, so when bramz told me it's for sale (yes it's his fault) I had a crisis.

As Skizzer calls it, the carehome dayroom dazzle interior.  It's lovely and almost immaculate.  The outside is a bit frilly, but it is an old Vauxhall after all.

However, after the 2 mile drive home this greeted me.  Didn't notice it on the test drive...

Pinhole leak in the body of the radiator pissing out, so hopefully some JB Weld will fix that.  Otherwise I'm very happy with it.  I'll have a proper go over it tomorrow evening, which is something I should have done before buying it, but I never learn!

Hey that looks great Rob, proper Autoshite colour too. I remember that being for sale on Canvey a few years ago, it got bought by someone in London who had it up for £1500 on eBay for ages with seemingly no takers.

I do have a spare Senator radiator but I think the six pot one is different sadly. I think it’s physically bigger.

Thanks Dicky!

It definitely needs a new radiator, as I did the dishwasher tablet clear out method and it's leaking heavily from the base now (or somewhere from the core further up).

I'm currently looking at options, and there aren't many.  New one is £195 on eBay but I'm not sure the mounting brackets are correct, so I need to take the old one off to confirm.

Or do a recore of the old one.  If anyone can recommend a company please PM me, cheers.

In the meantime here's a collection pic from Monday.  Littering the streets with GM bilge.

So despite the miserable weather I spent 30 mins fitting a pioneer Bluetooth/dab stereo I had kept in my cupboard in the very likely chance that I may buy another car which indeed I did. Routed the aerial and mic wires just fine and sounds a thousand times better already. Also removed the silly red "at" stickers that were on the trim, came off easy. Aside from that, I have the air con regas booked for tomorrow, and I am swapping the front wipers for the denso hybris blades which in my opinion really do look the most OEM style flat blade. Also got a upgrade rear aero wiper arm on order which will complete the slight refreshed look. Love this car!

Rusty old Fourtrak project progressing. Had new box section crossmember in, and I had to cut of and repair the nearside rear spring plate.

Had to remake 90 percent of the offside one.

Theres been various small repairs also, and I think I’m down to 2 main structural points left to weld up.

It looks as though you have stopped the car half way up the ramps?

Dropped the hire van back at the company today, and went to pick up the Bluebird to go home. Click of death from the starter motor. Worked on the third attempt, behaved fine, then same thing a little later on.  The perfect* thing to happen when you've just moved and all your tools are in disarray!
