Spoiler is back! Looked better without I think.

I think someone asked before, is it a manual or auto roof?

Never been able to work out why these were so derided compared to other escorts, they always seemed no more or less shit than the mk3 and mk4 to me, just more of the same really

living up to its dire reputation, the rear spoiler fell off today. Either the downforce levels were epic, or it was stuck on with crappy sealant.

I think ill leave it off as it looks less fussy/ slightly less tragic.

Doubt it'll be slower without it...

I’m not really Ford person at all
but an escort convertible of that age always appeals. I think it must be an association with pretty young female drivers of these from my teenage years.

Anyway, well bought
if I’ve managed to resist buying anything else by the time you sell I’ll have sit hard on my hand
before typing the PM so it feels like someone else has done it.

The Mk3 Escort convertible was Glynis Barber’s car in Dempsey and Makepeace, and also I think featured in some Leslie Ash private detective dross named Cats Eyes from about the same time. This was when Ford’s press department knew how to get their cars into the ‘right’ sort of programmes.

I can see the Mk5 convertible featuring more in something like ‘Birds of a Feather’. I think the blonde one had a Nissan Sunny ZX  coupe with that awful factory body kit, so a flabby Escort cabby would be a perfect replacement.

Use has not eased the sticky brakes. I hoped they would fix themselves. Ill need get the front wheels off and see whats what.

Ive found a suitable replacment passenger door-  because of the rigourous* quality standards employed throughout the car, the current one has dissolved

Im glad/ relieved that the main structural bits all seem pretty solid.

Im weighing up taking  it to shitefest AND collecting the door AND camping in it one night. The rear seats do seem to fold down, so it may not bequite as ambitious/ stupid as it sounds. Hmmm.

There was a yellow one in the spy drama Bugs in the early 90s too.

Though it was the Mk I Cherokee XJ one of the other main cast drove I was always more interested in...
