Nothing at Brighton Marina this morning and I mean no toy cars at all!

We have put a little shelf thing for some toy cars up in the small spare room...

I just need another ten of these dotted around the house and half my crap will be out of storage...

Hey that alright, did you build it or buy it (and where!)

The film car was a post May 1984, which was when the SE model trim became Vanden Plas for both 2600 and 3500

Minimerc did a 437 BMR in 1:18

Fun Fact:

The reason for the Mk1 front seats being fitted was that these could quicky be put in the recline position by simply pulling a lever. SD1 Mk2 seats recliner mechanism worked by turning a handwheel and would have taken ages.

Wonder if it still survives that car?

Couldn't make it now anyhow

The story was semi-autobiographical written by the late Andrea Dunbar.  Andrea had an affair with a married man, having sex with him in his car, along with her friend Eileen.

In her play/screenplay, Bob was set as 27 years old.  Rita and Sue were set as 15-16

Siobhan Finneran and Michelle Holmes were 19/20 and George Costigan was nearly 40 when filming.

Front and rear tampos are so much better than side ones. Not many real cars have anything on the side of them anyway

This came in the post, Tomicas are quite lovely things - just never saw them when I was a kid

Off topic but that reminds me of how at about this time of year, every year without fail Strictly Come Dancing wheels out an 'American car' as a prop that totally isn't a Volvo 740 with some chrome bits grafted onto the front...

Anyway, rapidly back onto topic, I flew out of Hong Kong airport the other day and was amazed to know they had a model car shop just before customs. I regret to inform you I didn't buy the faux-Lego transformer Toyota Crown Comfort...

... but I did get a New Territories spec version of the latest Toyota Comfort.

Bit more painting done today.
Here’s a load of the current ‘works in progress’ hardening off.

Mercury Commuter had its interior painted darker blue. I’ll do some lighter blue centres to the seats, steering wheel etc once it’s all dry.

Cortina is now in its final colour!
Roman Bronze is the colour of winners, and suits the Cortina to a T!

I also picked up this bastardised Dinky Volvo since nobody else bid on it.
It’d been opened up, shit speed wheels replaced with much older tyred wheels than poorly painted red. Reason I was attracted to it was the wheels tbh! It just stood out!
It’s been stripped and now drying after a wash off, but in the meantime I decided to do a bit of wheel testing…

Fronts are as it came. I think they are actually Dinky truck wheels & tyres on homemade axles.
Rears are a suggestion from @eddyramrod and are late Dinky Transit wheels which actually fit well! Obviously the tyres are completely wrong for that wheel so I’ll need new ones!
I did test a set of Corgi wheels (from a big Regal), which did look quite good (looked a bit like Volvo alloys!) but they were far too big to clear the rear arches sadly!
