Well yes, there's literally no way I'm going to turn that 850 down is there?? I can't believe weeks of half-assed joking about finding rare Italian diecast at the tat market has finally paid off!

In fact, ym last missive form Mr Cog:

Here's hoping there's a stack of Mebetoys or Mercury models to be found in forthcoming weeks...

If you do happen to find your way back, I’d give that Somerset a home. It’s about the only one of my Dad’s old Dinkys that I haven’t got, he reckons it went misssing about 55 years ago, I barely remember it as I’d have been 5.  I do have a  dodgy cousin from Derry that grew up to be involved in VAT fraud, I wonder, it does look as if somebody has tried to change its identity…

I don't think I'll be back over today, but I'll keep an eye out for that Somerset next week!

Definitely some dodgy dealings afoot, by the sounds of things... If only they could talk, eh?

Nipped in The Entertainer, no joy in there, supposedly Friday is Matchbox delivery day but there’s still all the 70th Anniversary crap on the pegs. These don’t seem popular at all! Next batch must be due soon surely!

I've seen them at Vectis. It's a US issue from the 1980s.

I’ve yet to find a Maxi Taxi on my travels, although they were US bound, I believe a quantity came on to the U.K. market at some point in the 80’s. I have a few of the US only ones like the Midnight Magic, Sunburner and the Viper Van but others seem elusive such as the Rallye Royale and the chrome mod rod.

I've had quite a few bits arrive this week but no time to look at any of them until today. There's a mix of Cogbox and eBay wins as well as a few I found on the shelf

First up, one of the trio of Corgi Classics (not those) that turned up at the market recently

A few boxed bits, I know you've all seen the Morris before but I don't care, this has been a right pain to track down

I put the spare Hot Wheels Altezza chase car on eBay for £20 which I thought wasn't unreasonable and it sold in an instant, had dozens of messages asking if I have any more! Should have auctioned it. I was a bit smarter when I found a couple of Fast & Furious Team Transports in Smyths which are already bid up to £24 with 5 days to go!

These are a bit left-field, cheapie Chinese no name sets

20231117_153753.thumb.jpg.e6779141d5dade19a11746604dd40555.jpg

These are pretty obviously copies of Hot Wheels cars, I've pictured a few of the originals to show just how cheeky they are

And finally DC sent me the alternative colour Jag E Type - not really a fan of the 2+2 but I think this colour is fantastic. Bronze exhaust is odd though

I really like the Corgi 2+2 E Type, much nicer and better shape than the roadster. I only recently saw a blue one IRL and still prefer the red!

Does the CMC one have the sliding back seat like the original?

368599664_256123587452331_1004264319259308647_n.thumb.jpg.2006723f4412ec344c81e2d6e5588c91.jpg

I liked the separate exhaust when I was a kid and wiggled it about so much it's now removeable, great for those garage games!

The trailer is the original from my Lotus set and I've just made a new hitch from sheel aluminium, just needs a coat of paint now so it'll be usable again if not very elegant...

I've got a couple of the Dinky 2+2, a couple of the Corgi 2+2 and -ahem- a couple of the Spot On that is really a FHC

Not that it matters.  They are all borked in their own *unique way

The real one to hunt out is a pre-production

dd56b-image031.jpg

Base would still be unpainted and stamped 'No.67 Hot Rocker Made in England' using the new side tampos

 8edfd-image033.jpg

And not a painted black base, stamped 'No.72 Maxi Taxi Made in Hong Kong' with added Maxi Taxi tampo on roof

s-l1600(1).jpg.bff31fef2b21aa4725009ea97414c695.jpg

Maxi Taxi was 1982-83, resurrected five years after Hot Rocker production finished 1973-77 which had been released in these colours: 1973-74 Green

s-l1600(2).jpg.89884435e1ceabc0983acacef6274762.jpg

1975-77 Red

s-l1600(3).jpg.ffe24fa8d2dc74224e1a9531aef6b2bc.jpg

But what goes around, comes around... because the pre-production was in fact.... yellow!

LS67b-prabxI.jpg.a9b03f0c6bab77eb8acb733e1c0af7ac.jpg

Oh, the humanity.
