I listen to a pod cast were the host asks the guest what one car would you have for the rest of the life and you can have a £500 banger on the side for the dogs and going to the dump. I always see a mk6 escort estate in my minds eye. I recon a 1.8 zetec would be pretty nice but a 1.3 encore would be abject misery. There was a 1.4 bASe spec Fabia Classic on AutoTrader a wee while ago with EHMAHGERD HGF for £495. A wee bit crusty in at the sills but only done 38k, Weegie registered too. If I could be arsed/had the skills for changing a head gasket then it would have been tempting.

Now, you know I HAT Fr0ds because I'm a sophisticated gent and they're cars for knuckle-draggers BUT these things are so WEIRD MAN! Only built for two years, they were rare when they were new but were supposedly loads better than the Mk3 and supposedly go and handle really well. I love the mishmash styling, and the interior looks pretty mega. This one has a clean MoT until July and, although it has a few crusty bits, I reckon would respond really well to some fairly minor cosmetic fettling. Put it away in a nice dry barn and cash-in in a few years when this model is totally extinct. It's £500 and just up the road from me. Think he’s sorting it over winter, saw him post on the Lancia Thema consortium group looking for a front subframe a few weeks back, he seems a good lad and the mods are tasteful. Used it as his wedding car and his late grandfather had one so probably has a lot of sentimental value to him. Dick Longbridge

It looked a really genuine example and infinitely cleaner than the one shared on here recently. The fact he used it as his wedding car instantly ups the sentimentality stakes too!
