Here's the most scrapped if you can't be arsed downloading the spreadsheet:

It's worth noting that, just like the DVLA data on howmanyleft, this data is terrible. For instance, in addition to the 7,357 Escorts in the above screenshot there are loads listed as separate models (e.g.: "FORD ESCORT L" and "FORD ESCORT ESCORT FINESSE") and the same goes for every model. There is also heaps of mad nonsense like "SKODA FORD".

Under the scheme didn't they have to have valid MOT?  So they were all usable motors.

rings a bell. we chopped in a '94 Clio against a Fiat 500 under the scrappage scheme. I had to take the Clio in during the day as I had pillaged all the bulbs out of it

I am responsible for one of those Corsas, a nasty blue S reg thing with a months MOT and a timing chain doing the skeleton wanking in a biscuit tin impression.

Funnily enough the last payment on the Fiat 500 it was traded against went out last month, it's never missed a beat in 5 years and has done about 60,000 miles at the mercy of two daughters, looking round it's still worth a few quid as well. The money they ( well, mostly they) paid for it would only have gone on shoes etc so it was a win,win situation as far as I'm concerned.

I know the DVLA are hopeless at everything but jesus fucking christ on a bike, how have they ended up with so many misspellings and mis-registered cars? I mean what in the hell is a WBADL82000BZ74938 BMW 530D?

One of those Quattro's was supposedly a Sport!!

I'm guessing the Mercedes 600 wasn't a Grosser just a V12 w140 that was written down wrong.

The Integrale and M5 must have been real dogs not to have been worth more than 2 grand though.

The lists of Austins,Hillmans,Morrises etc is sad ,but even now mint, examples would struggle to make £2k so you can't blame the sellers- just the assholes who decreed they had to be fragged.

I nearly scrap dealed my Jag I had at the time when my wife bought her new Colt. Even though they only offered £1200 in p/x, I took that instead as the car was far to good to be cubed. Yes, I know I'm a sentimental old fool but it felt like the correct thing to do.

I hated it at the time and after reading the first bit I'm stunned. The list of minis alone if fucking insane. Sod the money think about what you own, there's some rear and unusual stuff in there but all they saw were the £ signs

But a completely rotten Mini with 12 hours left on a lenient ( or bent) ticket that just about drags itself across the forecourt was worth £2,000 against a brand new Kia with 17 years warranty and 60 easy payments of £59 or something.

Oct '99 manufactured 530d.

How did they manage to make the chassis number so easily available?

Anyone want to clone it...

Yes, but it didn't have to have a hope in hell of getting another one. I know of a punto that got chopped in with 3 days mot with just about everything knackered.

And it could also be a crashed item, as long as it had an MOT when it was 'scrappaged'.  A friend's very high-mileage 306 got shunted at a roundabout, she bought it back as salvage, and got 2k scrappage against a new VW Polo.

I worked at Arnie Clark Fiat/Citroen in Paisley at the time of scrappage, and whilst i agree there will have been some rare/interesting/uber cool motors fragged elsewhere or even just good condition or perfectly sound usable cars crushed, I can honestly say that nothing like that came to us, they were all utterly fucked, even the newest ones that qualified and there wasn't even anything interesting bought either.

We didn't sell a single Citroen on scrappage and all the Fiats which were sold were base spec, usually non metallic painted. 500 Pops, Grande Punto 1.4 8v Actives and Panda 1.1 Actives, not a single Sport, Lounge, GP, Sporting, Dynamic or Eleganza spec sold on scrappage.

My hazy memory recalls a pogweasel pink Seicento with more hits than the Beatles, a rotten R reg Fiat Brava, T reg Focus, an N reg doom blue Corsa B special edition with poverty spec, an S reg Clio mk2 ph1 with more water ingress than the Titanic, and that was the better ones, still as they were getting scrapped we had fun "banger racing" them into one another like a demolition derby to see who could inflict the most body damage or set an airbag off first, I then half inched the speakers from the N reg Corsa for the X reg Corsa B my sister had at the time.
