I'm not sure that you do 🤔20231226_130858.thumb.jpg.4f6bf45230d210a20dd0351001532dc3.jpg

Not sure now either - I had two of them, and I know I sold one on in 2018 or so (to you, I'll assume!) - think it was the one shown here left middle, with a dark green VW Beetle cabriolet on the back.

20180426_080706.jpg

But I had another one, this time part of a bigger playset with the red RAV-4 load, and alongside a Mercedes Sprinter towing wagon, Mercedes Vito police van, barriers 'n' cones, ludicrously oversize figures etc - but I'm now not sure if I let that one go too!

Will have to get under the bed again and have an explore...

😬

Interesting, I've seen both straight and angled pipes, maybe replacement rear boxes don't bother with the angle?

I'll have to look at my friend's 320 later this week although that's a really late cabrio

The 320i had a single outward projecting pipe

R.17ae88287dacc2be2a04344b22a28be8?rik=K

and the first 325i cars had bigger outward pointing pipes.

I think the straight out the back pipes came when they changed to the body coloured bumpers in 1987.

Vanguards prices lately can often range from "ooh, bit salty that" to "How F****** Much M8?" but £18 posted for a NOS unopened boxed example isn't bad in this day and age.

I suppose it's all about perspective.  Where I stand £18 is very firmly HFM-land.

The Enforcer was 1976.  The Bel Airs used were 1974

Yes, I have to apologise for that, I only thought to look up the actual year this morning.  Doh.

1964 Plymouth Barracuda (Auto World). I think it's supposed to be a dealer display vehicle to demonstrate various colour options on the car.

Amazing

It's to represent the 1965 Chrysler Canada campaign, to show there were more Barracuda colours available over Ford's Mustang

Other festive diecast drop was this,

IMG_20231225_233012.thumb.jpg.7b262044fcc393277234035c679434cf.jpg

A long time ago, I got the Vanguards E30 325i M Tec 1, the spec I wanted it in, for what was a bargain price for one of those.

IMG_20201227_010057.thumb.jpg.4c80a7227e6de6c1b111db96d023ed9a.jpg

I do try and avoid getting duplicates of the same castings nowadays (which I fail pretty miserably at), but the Plane tree green 323i is sufficiently different I think, to justify it!

IMG_20231225_233722.thumb.jpg.07267fa595fd05fb1c442fb7237f07ce.jpg

Thanks to the way Corgi make Vanguards now, with separately made front and rear ends, and detachable sides for the moulds allowing for 2 or 4 door configurations, pre and facelift bumpers, bodykit and non bodykit options, it's possible to make both sporty and base versions of the same castings. I've been after this version for a while due to it's slightly batshit spec.

IMG_20231225_233925.thumb.jpg.bcd06f0544900292418052de876b80a2.jpg

The real car was specced up from new with the nippy 2.3 six pot motor with autobox, leccy windows, sliding sunroof,  Blaupunkt stereo and rear spoiler. But also with cloth trim and bare steel wheels with a gloriously OAP colour scheme of Planetree green with light green interior.

Just for @Split_Pin, some front and rear detail, nice pre 2001 number plate font.

IMG_20231225_233903.thumb.jpg.5be4f988f2dda875596c780c31e56ea4.jpg

Those sodding filled-in tailpipes though....

IMG_20231225_234233.thumb.jpg.429167e6c1bf684216aa46141bb14dbb.jpg

Just love it for the fact that they tooled up some base spec steel wheels just for this version.

IMG_20231225_234011.thumb.jpg.0c8728361eae9d914faaa9304f404353.jpg

A nice model, of pretty much an Autoshite spec E30. This came from an auto parts supplier on eBay I use from time to time, who sell quite a few diecasts on the side (it was this company I got all the cheap Opel dealer models from during lockdown). Vanguards prices lately can often range from "ooh, bit salty that" to "How F****** Much M8?" but £18 posted for a NOS unopened boxed example isn't bad in this day and age.

That looks ace, especially the front end. These close ups always give my bank balance a worry though!

That's how I remember E30s. I hope they do a 318i Touring in Alpine white one day, the same as my Dad's old one H913 NSF. He could have had that one with alloys, fogs and a radio or an absolute Bobby basic 518i.

Dinky Beach Buggy is fuckin' MASSIVE Part2

IMG_8537.thumb.JPG.f0cc7fb42c8845bbc8581287cc82bf49.JPG

I had a quick look around the summer house and picked a selection of buggies out to compare

IMG_8538.thumb.JPG.8a56d81c17a07249be2bd3d3e3466128.JPG

L-R Corgi Juniors, Corgi, Corgi Bertone Shake Buggy, Tootsietoy, Matchbox Sand Cat, Tonka, Some random green one (my favourite) & Dinky

IMG_8539.thumb.JPG.e652a2d7b0ab2f1fdc1938efbd826b8d.JPG

Mrs Concern has more examples of nearly all of them and a few others (Matchbox maybe?), but I couldn't be bothered hunting them out

IMG_8541.thumb.JPG.b016322d1c3dc13cb2614797b039526b.JPG

The Dinky is clearly big

IMG_8542.thumb.JPG.c14391bbda5f23db755c9fc3824e6bb0.JPG

So my original analysis of fuckin' MASSIVE was correct!

I can save you grovelling under the bed and say it's definitely not there. You sold that one too and I've got it here, still in the box with all the bits.

Daaah!

Looking back, it must have fallen victim to my emergency downsizing back in January 2022, when we put the house on the market and MrsDC was mildly* perturbed by the amount of diecast coming out of the attic, necessitating a sudden exodus of much of my collection... just found the pic of the stuff I offered out.

IMG_20220113_134453.thumb.jpg.78aa23e153dbf7221364148c66180629.jpg

That's quite annoying.

BUT there's a slim chance the market example might still be around when the market opens up again in the New Year... and you're quite right, at least now I don't have to go hoking around under the bed with increasing frustration because I can't locate said Cararama set...

Got a problem with the Matchbox BMW. The grille and headlights sit too far back inside the body. This is how it should be

Screenshot_20231227-101113.thumb.png.88b8db1248fd191151faa238b7af234c.png

All my other examples look like this - of course the one I've chosen has something wrong with it

PXL_20231226_1548152102.thumb.jpg.7fa2b2d0f0233f343c7b63ae9d9fdd22.jpg

You can see the front bumper is too far back and pokes into the wheel arch. Problem is the piece makes up the front bumper/grille, sills, interior sides and rear bumper. I've done a fair bit to it already removing the towbar, painting the inside and roof and detailing the grille - and I don't have another one anyway.

Hoping I can cut it somewhere and move the front forwards

When tidying the dining table for the big dinner the other day I found some old catalogues at the bottom of the pile of forgotten paperwork.

Here's the first of a short series of scans that I will be posting over the next few days.

I know we have some fans of the old Danish manufacturer Tekno on here, so here's a full catalogue of their 1968-69 range.

Look at the concentration of those critical eyes checking out the trucks on the cover.

page1.thumb.jpg.ae75e041f913a0bc3658eba41538228e.jpg

Not only did Tekno show the features, they also showed what went into the models.

page2.thumb.jpg.1cf27aa0cee3f34d3caedada1c78a365.jpg

page3.thumb.jpg.c56a3627a3fa9a5e8a5d9c1a44415eef.jpg

page4.thumb.jpg.3eb9685d43cc97ee8b7adaaa554b5fb3.jpg

page5.thumb.jpg.61bd36ec81b5d024090b2aff4d57cfcf.jpg

Teknos did not come with a tow hook, it came with the Sprite Musketeer to be attached to certain models in the range.

page6.thumb.jpg.cc0d09aba1a4cdb2a01a5478add4d7f1.jpg

page7.thumb.jpg.20a3a10cae3f17278e2a520f28819205.jpg

A nice selection of emergency vehicles.

page8.thumb.jpg.cfd7d9d1e75702e49d925020a78e779b.jpg

page9.thumb.jpg.fcce1ea3fb254ea5e20b87064c2dd2a4.jpg

And lots for fans of commercials.

page10.thumb.jpg.0ce3de2ad86f7a60b2837e7d2810948d.jpg

page11.thumb.jpg.ca5a09d46370c3fc2520c71857ce0901.jpg

page12.thumb.jpg.e05365cec53925bc93eeca02e2b4b9ae.jpg

They even did some aeroplanes.

page13.thumb.jpg.39cdce4857f71e2bb83d1ce6d893f240.jpg

The last few pages show some of the new and planned models that will be added to the range

page15.thumb.jpg.9aaba0a8b507044776e33889af5022e6.jpg

And the rear cover shows two cars that will be joining the range.
