Ventured out to a very cold but busy boot sale today. Quite a lot of tiny tat vendors but £1 seems to be the new 50p

Took a bit of a chance on this big Dinky Shovel Dozer, not something I've laid eyes on before

A few Majorettes including a tidy 5, sans mirrors of course

Whoever was in charge of Matchbox at the time did a decent job on the Thunderbird. Not a colour I've encountered previously

I've been looking for one of these pickups so I can base swap it with the recent Monster Trucks version

Corgi Regal, got so many of these but tidy Superman version was too good to leave

I have a Joustra Fwago already, I even tried to sell it to one of you lot recently - but I bought another, motorised one

Finally a Mebetoys/Hot Wheels Maserati

Nice haul.
That Matchbox Thunderbird is a really good looking model, I like them too. That one you’ve got is, I think, a colour changer.
I’ve got that one, the dark blue and the red ones!

For those interested in my custom jobbies!

Another 007 Taunus has become a Cortina, this one in Bermuda blue. Lovely colour.

IMG_2919.thumb.jpeg.5d2f8a079b8b2a712f10f44557fbf40b.jpeg

007 Peugeot 504 has got its colour. I was so close to going with red for this (I had the can in my hand!) but then spotted a tin of Tamiya Pearl green and thought that would suit the car better.

IMG_2920.thumb.jpeg.0a43b3309d127aa76c9d6638da14d8b6.jpeg

Finally, the Dinky Volvo 265 that had been painted red badly.
Silver is not really one of my favourite colours tbh, but my plan with this is to try and do a 265 version of the Volvo 244 anniversary models, with silver paint with a black & gold waist height stripe.
The silver is actually sprayed over a black primer coat which (apparently!) helps make the metallic in the silver more obvious. It can be a bit dull with grey or white primer.
Despite first appearances this was actually a pretty good casting. A tiny bit of filler to the front wing, and a bit on the bonnet had it looking pretty straight.

IMG_2921.thumb.jpeg.baf6446d93c482f85f200c2bbe391ad1.jpeg

I’ve got a bunch of other 1/43 stuff coming too, so I want to get as many sprayed as I can before the cold gets too bad. Yesterday was freezing and the paint really didn’t like it so once it’s too cold I’ll be breaking out the brushes and doing the details/trims etc by hand indoors. The aim now is to get the spraying done while I can!

On Friday we went to a Market where Mrs Concern bought these for £8, a Matchbox tram and an Altaya La Route Bleue Renault 4CV, it does have the plastic top, but it need a bit of a polish. I'm not keen on models made of older cars (why I don't have any Vanguards), but the camping diorama is great for the summer house!

IMG_8310.thumb.JPG.ee99b3fed0241882de05bdf07cb13a30.JPG

Today we went to a toy fair and Mrs Concern got the Corgi boat and trailer with the Dinky sign she liked for £4 and the trams I don't know what she paid. Her siter was there and they spent most of the time chatting so that's all she bought. She's going to make a Judy Garland Trolly song diorama with the trams.

IMG_8311.thumb.JPG.cbb3c3706cb2dac00b73b431e6b89059.JPG

My first buy was two Corgi animal cages with all parts present except a couple of tyres and a cracked roof window, plus a Big Bedford Cab all for £8. I know you don't need to know the prices, but when I read about other peoples buys I like to know so I'll tell you!

IMG_8312.thumb.JPG.8f650bdef9edf7a26714b7bb5c39b560.JPG

Next I found an almost mint Dinky Lotus Europa, had £20 sticker, seller wanted £10, paid £9, very happy with that

IMG_8318.thumb.JPG.eab206477fd363c5201307af630a54a7.JPG

Opening bits

IMG_8320.thumb.JPG.af3ebd66e9de606b3343b30f0380d0ea.JPG

Paid too much £5 for this Dinky Mustang re paint with the wrong (Corgi?) wheels, I'll probably paint it myself, but looks tidy enough for now

IMG_8314.thumb.JPG.192e313c6950b0c20c0842ca40031520.JPG

Corgi Whizzwheels Marcos in blue, I have a yellow one and a cream one already and got pipped to Tat Friday one the other week so got this for £4 (wanted £6). It looks better than in the pic.

IMG_8315.thumb.JPG.e8ebe98a7edebe5570e0ce1c0cc175b8.JPG

Norez Jet Car GS for £2, never seen one before and it's very nice

IMG_8361.thumb.JPG.a3c1cede8361e676f8017b62b1255b34.JPG

All four doors and bonnet open!

IMG_8316.thumb.JPG.0cedf549891ba1c0860a7b293ce12b32.JPG

It is missing a rear light, but still...

IMG_8317.thumb.JPG.22861cc90caf10802e162394bf508266.JPG

The seller with the Europa also had a load of scrap bags for £1 each, white plastic bags made it hard to see what was in them, but I picked this

IMG_8356.thumb.JPG.bd73e65cb7fcda9e04d68012f590cc35.JPG

I could see a Charger that I hoped was Matchbox King Size and it was, but no wheels, but that's ok as I want to change them anyway!

IMG_8357.thumb.JPG.edd6998810fecc5e11be709ce63b1058.JPG

One other lucky dip £1 bag had this pile of junk

IMG_8359.thumb.JPG.d3d0604c77fc450953cc184194008649.JPG

Obviously I was after this Dinky wedge

IMG_8360.thumb.JPG.10bf155d39cb38d6fd777f93c1b51da3.JPG

If anyone wants any of the other tat from the bags let me know otherwise there's plenty of useful bits and pieces for my projects...

Lastly on the way out picked up a King Size Javelin, Corgi Buggy and another Big Bedford with better paint, but missing the hitch for £6 the three

I've a feeling @Split_Pin could take an interest in the (Bburago 1/24?) Fiat 124 rallye coupe thing from the scrap bag!

Yes I would indeed! I have a very borked one from my childhood but it does have most of the bonnet present, bar a small corner. Weirdly the boot and bonnet were plastic on these. So yes please if its available @FakeConcern!

I had this one from new and kind of toyed with the idea of putting yellow wheels back on it, so I may do a swap first if that's ok. Pretty sure they screw together

IMG_5800.thumb.JPG.ac141a992aa7e957cd6e6084b1010162.JPG

It's also missing the steering wheel, front bumper/spot lights and some engine parts and has broken rear screen.

I think I have your address don't I?

STOP PRESS:

New date of 27th November declared for Christmas, in small New Zealand town:

20231127_153803.thumb.jpg.e9d2c1b0a85eb97dbf2b045153bdfb54.jpg

Officials yet to confirm, but early numbers suggest 120 separate items for one particularly spoilt manchild lucky, well adjusted adult.

A shiny pound for anyone who can name the lot!

You must have been a good boy this year to get that lot!

Quite a few I recognise there too, good to see them again at their retirement home on the other side of the world.

Yes, very lucky! Mrs_Jon totally unaware of the scale of my luckiness. She's had exposure to a veritable smidgeon, as I've swapped out a few castings on the bookshelf with some new wares. But in all honesty, she's probably not even noticed those, yet.

There's one or two duplicates but that's not bad going, over months of collecting. Inevitably, I questioned the motivation over a couple of the smaller items but they're far outweighed (literally) by some absolute gems, which I'll try and nab some photos of, at some point.

Postie just brought me some more ill advised purchases.

Absolutely lovely IXO Granada estate. I really like these IXO models. Ok, they’re not perfect or up to the standards of NEO etc, but for the price they’re really not bad at all. Plus, they’re well put together so if you fancy repainting one it’s dead easy to do that!

IMG_2926.thumb.jpeg.60c16b462c9bdb35259270594dd74329.jpeg

And this was an impulse buy! I’ve never seen one before and had no idea they even made them until I spotted it on the Bay.
Also IXO (I think?) from an Opel collection they apparently did.

I really like this!

Now, where do I get some 1/43 scale Vauxhall emblems to replace the Opel ones!

Run the cans under the hot tap and heat the cars up with the mrs' hairdryer while she's not looking. Hasn't failed me yet

Just don’t do what a mate of mine did many years ago when tarting up the arches on his Mk2 Escort.

He put the aerosol in a pan of water on the gas hob…

Luckily he wasn’t in the kitchen when it exploded, everything and I mean everything including windows etc was dark blue, the can ended up embedded in the ceiling. To say his mum was a bit miffed is an understatement.

Yes, they did a professional job with that one. (Snort!)

Good job on getting that one, they're quite rare now.

I had a Vanguards related purchase touch down at the weekend but I have to wait about 4 weeks now until I can play with it...

Delighted (and relieved) to see that the models from St George's showed up safely in time for their epic voyage to the ends of the earth... Royal Mail was still telling me the parcel sent via your folks was undelivered as of Friday, after two weeks in transit.

What a haul!

I'd probably have an aneurism if I unwrapped that much tat on the same day.

Enjoy!
