JJ0063’s current steed - Life of an impulsive car owner [N47 CHAIN GANG]

Around 21 to the gallon, Mrs V8 test drove a X5 around 2015, she only got 23 mpg's and she may as well have had ballet slippers on.

Nice car though.

I'd also vote full sized plates and keep the silver surround grilles but it's not sounding like you're going to be keeping it long enough for that to be a problem 😂

In fact fuck it, im retaining my plate tomorrow.

If on the off chance anyone wants a properly well looked after X5 and won’t fuck me about, I’ll take a loss on it as I don’t want to miss the 335.

To be honest I wasn’t but it’s as if I manifested it 😂 sat there thinking corr I’d love my old 335 again with the decent economy and brilliant power, searched 335d on gumtree and it was the top result! Strange.

Just had a chat with the bloke, he still had my number saved from when I sold it to him.

  • JJ0063 changed the title to JJ0063’s current steed - Life of an impulsive car owner

Cleaned it inside and out today along with taking my stuff out (and the £250 odd front and rear dashcams the previous owner left in)

Cleans up bloody lovely, it’s a bittersweet sale but I can’t keep up funding this fuel cost.

Amongst a million time wasters I seem to have one genuine person wanting to view it on Tuesday.

335D owner has agreed I can go and collect it next Saturday subject to the X5 going..

SOLD! First loss I’ve had in years but only took £100 less than I paid so I’ve only lost that and the cost of the thermostat, coolant and a battery. Probably a £350 loss in total.

Onwards and upwards!

So, in order for me not to get buyers remorse in a fortnight, do I get the 335D back or try something else?

Im 99.9% set on the 335D as I know it’s a bloody fantastic car, but I don’t want to kick myself next week when I find something else I fancy.

For those who have either lost track or didn’t ever see the 335D when I had it before, here’s a few pics (sellers pics, he’s kept it well!)

I'd say whatever you buy, don't be so quick to put the private plates on just to give yourself that bit of time and make sure you don't decide to sell it again within a week 😉😄

Having a private plate is the worst idea when you’re a serial car changer. Costs a fortune. I never learn..

Why did you sell the E92 in the first place? I assumed you were buying back your old 5 series touring. That always looked one hell of a car.

The genuine reason at the time was I was pretty seriously ill, I had side effects from the covid vaccine which left me with terrible vertigo, brain fog and motion sickness, I literally couldn’t drive an auto for more than about 5 miles without being sick. This lasted for 12 months believe it or not.

It’s now gone hence having the auto X5. I just know what my luck is like, if I get the 335 back on Saturday, on Sunday something even nicer will be listed for sale.

The 5 series was fantastic but it was too underpowered for the size of car to have any fun with.

Fuck it, stick to what you know. Insurance switched over from Saturday and collecting the 335D at 10AM

If anyones after a 335D, keep an eye out on this thread in 6 weeks and I’ll have a lovely one for you to buy.

Made it, that was a long day. Left the house at 8am, got there bang on time. Shitty Nationwide decided to put a fraud block on the payment and took nearly 3 hours to call me back and release the funds to the chap. Luckily he was very accommodating and let us hang about.

Still drives bloody brilliant. Has developed a shaking when letting off the gas at 70 but I’ve had that before on a BMW, think it was lower control arms. Will sort either way.

This is a purchase I instantly feel better about rather than nerves like the X5. 370bhp averaged 38.1mpg on the journey back from Romford. That’s more like it!

Had it a day, over the moon. Love it.

Took it for wheel balancing, they kindly also stuck it up on the ramps and we gave it a look over. The rear shock I replaced about 18 months ago has gone soft, and one of the fronts is leaking quite bad even though there’s a receipt for it being new from ECP in October 22.

I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered a full set of 4 Sachs shocks with top mounts from Polish eBay as they are £180 each on ECP for Sachs or £280 for the whole set including 4 shocks, all top mounts/shock covers etc from Polski eBay.

Very confused but just had a DVLA tax refund through with a cheque for £120 from the X5

All I did when I bought it was set up a tax direct debit - just checked my statement and all they’ve taken is a payment of £31.50, then another £31.50 for this month

I better cash it quickly.

Halifax did that to me last week too - I got to call them and then felt alternately like a total fucking criminal or a doddery old fucker as a twelve year old told.me.in.one.syllable.words what their script told them to say.

Anyways - wanted to ask, is it like 'sex with an ex?' ;-)

😂

Just as good as I remember, if anything better.

Couple of annoying bits like I sold it with 4 brand new Rainsport 5’s on it and it’s come back with one front one rear budget so no idea what he’s done to them but I’ve now got diagonal Rainsports so will address that eventually.

Apart from that and the shaking, it’s bloody brilliant and I have 0 regrets about getting back together.

Had a girlfriend like that once too....

He's driven over a plank with a couple of nails sticking out and punctured close to the side wall?
