Yes, YouTube is always watching, regardless of cookies.

Thanks for the road marking stuff. I should probably find someone to explain it all on camera next time I'm there.

Now that is some content. Getting locals to explain road craft in the countries. Just don't ask any of these. Yes they smashed up a lot of Volvos in the last series.

Oh I got suggested a video on how to erect an awning for a trailer tent and it was not yours.  How, even if you do not accept the cookies, does YT have some way of knowing what you have watched?

You're producing free content

YT isn't free!

Content producers get a (tiny) cut of money made by people watching the videos.

Viewers may not pay in money but they pay in data. That data on you is highly valuable to a company like Google and other advertisers. As the above shows, they gather that data in any way they can and definitely use that data.

It's in YT interest to promote videos to keep people watching and engaged, to gather more info on that viewer.

That may be true, but just because it's free doesn't mean it should be less good than it could be. Plenty of folk are putting more effort in regardless of whether anyone pays or not. I don't mind criticism I agree with!

Reading what happened makes me glad you took the comfortable barge over a contently hilarious TWC.

Glad your feeling better, onwards and upwards :D

Not a collaboration I was expecting but very entertaining none-the-less 😅

I think anybody who isn't a learner would have got the same result. There's a difference between being an experienced driver and a skilled, experienced driver. You're clearly in the latter where the "faults" don't actually pose a great deal of harm to anyone

It's an interesting concept - I was actually thinking that I passed my test 10 years ago this year, and I did wonder if any local driving schools did a similar thing - a useful self-reflection on driving abilities.

heres the "sister" video to that where we watch the instructor shit bricks learning how to work a proper car

seriously tho, was lots of fun to watch both videos :) (apart from all the PTSD it brought back, from when I was learning to drive/took my driving test)

but I have said it before and ill say it again, I really really wish I could have had a 2CV for my driving lessons/driving test, I have found a 2CV much more confidence inspiring to driven than any modern that I have driven!

and I am not sure what the talk of worse visibility is about either? again I found a 2CV to have much better visibility then again modern car I have been in LOL

tis worth noting that apart from the lack of head-restraints, nothing about a 2CV makes it un-eligible for a modern driving test, in-fact I worked out a while back that if you put Mph markers on a Trabant, you could use one of those for a driving test as they have head restraints LOL

so if you fitted a passenger seat with a head restraint in a 2CV then you could happily use one for a driving test if you wanted too :)

There is apparently a requirement for the test car to be able to reach 62mph as well, not that the route we covered gave much chance of that! Was an entertaining collab that one.

yeah but a 2CV can do 62Mph right? I know a Trabant's book top speed is 100Km, 62Mph, so fairs fair as far as im concerned LOL

I mean theres nothing in the regs that say it must reach 62Mph within a set amount of time either, and trust me I have dug deep into the rules and regulations for a driving test :)

like did you know they still have specific guidance on Citroen XM's?

I mean when was the last time someone took their driving test in an XM? :)

or if you want to make Mr DGN take a driving test in TWC! or better yet @AdgeCutler's Brian "now if you thought a 2CV's gear change was tricky..."

Having watched your latest video about the Berlingo, I think it would be worth getting all 4 injectors sent to a specialist to be tested and reconditioned if necessary, or exchanged for reconditioned units.

I think the issue is likely to be more like a dodgy spray pattern as those leak off results actually don't look too bad.

The 2.0HDi isn't unknown for injector troubles and I don't think a set of injectors would set you back too much if it came to that

Regarding removal, it's generally true that they're difficult to remove if they've been leaking and the black death has jammed them in. The reason people say they're a nightmare to remove is when they've been leaking for ages and they're trying to replace the seal.

With a bit of persuasion they'll usually come out without worry. Take the union off and slot a 3/8 extension over the injector inlet and twist while you gently pry it upwards. This always gets them out for me unless they've been chuffing.

thats *exactly* sort of stuff he does! and I am not kidding! if anyone can get that Toshiba laptop working, or at least get a good diagnosis on it, it would be Zel!

It would have been rude not to get a "family photo" though wouldn't it?  If you wondered how much more compact the T3100 is than the T3200/5200, here you go.

Actually an order of magnitude clearer in person...my camera (unsurprisingly) isn't fond of taking pictures of an interlaced CRT display.

Berlingo is back in action.

FzzY4NSXsAM_sfT?format=jpg&name=900x900

It's been out of action for months due to a misfire. I was thinking it was injectors, others suggested high pressure pump (actually the only pump on these), blocked cat, clogged fuel pick up and pretty much anything else you can think of. Rather that just continue guessing, I asked a mobile mechanic to take a look. He quietly contemplated the data on his computer, and concluded the injectors were not bad - one pair a bit worse than the others but not enough to really be concerned about. He suggested EGR, though had absolutely no interest in investigating further. I paid him his £50 and he retreated. I wondered why.

Then I tried removing the EGR valve. You can't even see it! It's buried down the back on the engine. This is one of the first Berlingos to have the HDi engine, and it's clear there were some packaging issues. In fact, they changed the design to make the EGR easier to access (slightly) just a couple of months after this one was built. Typical.

So I gave up and, in desperation, but some Lucas Oils Diesel EGR& Turbo Cleaner on Ebay. Made a video about this and the ensuing runaway scenario... scary.

In short, leaving the engine on idle allowed a puddle of this stuff to sit in the intake. I revved the engine, just wanting to see if we had any difference yet and because I suspected the exhaust was full of crud, but it just ran away as it sucked in the puddle of EGR cleaner, old engine oil and detritus. I followed the instructions to the letter but, having given it another quick blast last night (before I did an engine oil and filter change), I think it's better to hold the revs at about 1500rpm. It sucks more in, and keeps it moving, preventing any pooling in the intake.

The difference has been absolutely incredible. The engine pulls cleanly from below 2000rpm like it never has before, any thoughts of a misfire are long gone and it feels much, much happier. The intake could still be all gunked up for all I know - it isn't an easy thing to check - but if your HDi is stumbling a bit at lower revs, or feeling a little sluggish, I think this treatment makes a lot of sense. I'll just say my car doesn't have an intercooler or a DPF - caution suggested with both.

So pleased to have the Berlingo back for something so simple! Can finally take a rest from the Fairmont's fuel consumption (can nudge 30mpg on a 60mph cruise, but more like 18 on Welsh hills).

Might try some magic potion in mine... It doesn't turn the turbo on occasionally now which is starting to worry me a bit. Change up or down gear and voila it comes back

And I was up for removing and cleaning the egr too 😂 Having done it before on the 1 9dci it'd 4 bolts and a pipe at the front of the engine. Then like you I found out where it really was and the idea went away...

Check the wastgate (dump valve) actuator. A vacuum line had gone on my Saab giving lots of lag. Replaced the line and performance restored. I did change the EGR after and it was better still.

Magic potion worked wonders, though the stuff creating a brief runaway didn't half help blow some crap out...

78bhp on the Dyno suggests there is still an underlying issue though but the main difference post spray (aside from the fact it actually ran properly) was that we could actually hear the turbo again.

I had magic potion limp my 2nd laguna through thousands of miles 👌

Might dodge the showers this weekend and go sniffing around the vac pipes. The rocker gasket needs doing too so everything is covered in shit, some cleaning up might be a good first step.

The turbo whistle is very nice isnt it! It's partly the reason it not coming on is more noticeable 😂

Then an Italian tune up to blow out the clag. I get no smoke though and it passed the mot 2 weeks ago so at least being reliable old boots has its advantages. If we were both in similar era 2009/10 hdi crap it'd be eml lights and limp mode galore.

The last stuff I used was a black bottle from @Andyrew. Did 2 tanks with it iirc and it took the ignition fault off the gooner! (could replicate putting it in limp mode otherwise, was strange but cheaper than fixing the fault...)

Once I've done all the other jobs on the Xsara I have planned/it demands I might treat it
