Tetleysmooth
So, what do you do when you decide that a convertible may not be the best idea for the winter months? Easy, you put your Autoshite head on, and go and buy one of these: Photos are 'as bought'. I've done nothing to it yet, save turning off those bloody day running lights.Collected yesterday from Waltham Cross, Essex. It's a 2.0 litre GT auto. MOT until late June '19. Mileage is just north of 85k. Drove extremely well back to Rainham. It was originally on an 03 plate.Tetley very happy to be back in a Volvo again. Mrs Tet's seal of approval too. spike60, rantingYoof, Uncle Jimmy and 36 others

Tetleysmooth
They are a tad garish, aren't they. It's got original overmats in the boot, so may just change those. We'll see if the bugger leaks first.
NorfolkNWeigh
Pretty car.Volvo seemed to encourage buyers to choose actual colours on c70's , which when it comes to convertibles always looks better than the default Germanic silvergreyblack. myglaren, Laseraligningfoofooflanges and eddyramrod
Jim Bell
It's drop top season. Come and get your bargains, massive value available, bigger engine the better. That looks amazing (bar the mats). Well done.

Tetleysmooth
Thanks people. It was a bargain. The mats, well, my first comment to Mrs Tet was to say I was going to get rid, but she actually likes them, so because I'm a doormat - sorry - thoughtful husband, they can stay for a bit longer. Looks like the Devil's lounge, doesn't it! barefoot

Tetleysmooth
The only thing is, it came with one key and one fob. I can't see the key being much of a problem to duplicate, but was wondering if I get an identical fob, is it easy to get it programmed?

Richard
As it happens I had a duplicate Volvo key made up only last weekend, it was £59 in Timpsons. Not sure about fobs, that's the next job for me.
Dan_ZTT
I've done nothing to it yet, save turning off those bloody day running lights. YES. So easy too, first thing I did on mine. I had a 52-plate 2.0 manual as my only car for about 5 years from 2011. Did about 60k in it with very few issues, they are just the best cars. Still regret selling it really, life got in the way. One day I will have another, hopefully while they're still so cheap.

Tetleysmooth
Righto people, it seems like not everything in the garden is green.Since I bought the car, I've not been very well, but I did attempt to go to work on Thursday night. I came home again.Anyhow, I drove the car enthusiastically and once or twice, it seemed to lose drive momentarily. It went back in ok, but it gave all the symptoms of having low atf level.Today, I'm feeling a bit better, so I thought I'd check the level. The dipsticks on these have a cold setting, which is right at the bottom of the stick. The actual level was way way up the stick. So, overfilled? these boxes take a certain type of atf - JWS 3309 - and nothing else apparently. So, what would you good folk advise. Should I procure a Pela or similar and suck it all out and start again, making sure it's refilled with the correct atf?Take it to an autobox specialist and let them service it, or just say bollocks and offer it for sale as it is?It'll be a shame if I choose option three, because I've looked around this car and its had a lot of new parts from what I can see.I can't see anyone wanting to take it on, but it drove really well when I collected it, no messing about all the way home. I don't really feel well enough to do lots of work on it to be honest. Three Mondays ago I tried to stop a shoplifter in Superdrug in Hornchurch. I had hold of the bastard, but a Superdrug worker came flying out of the store straight into me and sent me flying. Mrs Tet reckons I've cracked a rib or something, because every time I do something strenuous now, I get a pain in my chest, through my back and down my arms. It's getting easier, but I really don't fancy any big jobs at the moment. If that silly bollocks Superdrug worker had used his head, one shoplifter would have been in custody. Instead of that, the little shit got away. So, if anyone fancies taking a crack at this, give me a shout. I just want a big old wafty auto to ferry me and Mrs Tet about. Jifflemon
The auto boxes are simply to chain the fluid on; pop the hose on the oil cooler part of the rad. Run for 10 secs, then top up with however much came out. Repeat until nice and clear.Getting the level right is crucial, and best when Hot. Not warm, HOT.Strongly recommend giving the box a fluid change, getting the fluid from eBay.de still seems the cheapest way.
GeordieInExile
Handsome chod. Well bought. Looking forward to the roffle when the sun comes out. Or when it doesn't and it's too damn cold to be smoking about in a convertible.

Tetleysmooth
Am I missing something here? You know (believe at least) that the gearbox is overfilled, and there's nowt else wrong with it. If you aren't fit to look at it yourself, then what's wrong with your option 2, or just taking it to a competent trusted garage? Seems a rash decision to shift an otherwise perfectly good car for the sake of draining and correctly re-filling some gearbox fluid? Yeah, I know it seems like a bit knee jerk, but really can't be agg'd at the moment.I've found an autobox place quite near me, so I'll give them a bell in the morning and see what they say. inconsistant and purplebargeken
