Shite in Miniature II

Ah well.

It was fun while it lasted.

I headed back over to the Cityside branch of Poundland yet again - because apparently I have absolutely no self-control - only to find that the cheapo Matchbox dump bin from earlier had now mysteriously vanished.

And the '50p' price tags had been snatched out from the shortcard pegs.

543569553_IMG_20230426_1433412.thumb.jpg.481f4afd0c3d4561dd51a20216154439.jpg

And there were a whole load of shortcards hastily stuffed up onto the upper shelves in a fairly haphazard fashion.

209116640_IMG_20230426_1433462.thumb.jpg.4eac454307ea0e90fa78d63e49da3278.jpg

Hmmm.

It probably doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to work out that something's afoot.

A brief yet illuminating discussion with a nearby member of staff revealed that no, they weren't 50p - they were £1.50. All the Matchbox were £1.50. Or at least they were meant to be.

Seems that someone, somewhere cocked up with the price labels.

Ooops.

Oh well, it was a good run anyway.

1990788590_IMG_20230426_1536042.thumb.jpg.bddacc9f9d1224d269d3d73caf0a8ffa.jpg

And I think I've managed to secure everything that everyone wanted, at the original low, low price - will double-check once I get home.

Sometimes, things are too good to last...

I also called into another branch of Poundland, in Castle Court, but they had no Matchbox.

They did, however, have some quite good Hot Wheels for £1.50.

Anyone needing any of these?

Yes I do still have need for the Audi IMSA jobbie

But I had thought one was being sent out from another member

I hope you bought loads more of bottles of 50p water instead!  😄

Water is good for you

The patio will wonder were you've got to.

I’ve actually got a few Lesney locomotives… might be a great idea there!👍

For now though it’s on light duties.

You can see one of the other trailers I got with this one behind it. New tow pin fitted already, just waiting on the other parcel with a replacement tractor unit/prime mover.
They’re actually both in different shades of blue too.

These things, and similar trucks from other makes were used a lot where I used to work, back when the electricity grid was being built. They used them to carry huge transformers etc from where they were built to the substation sites. Back in the days we actually used to make things here!
I found some old black & white photos of them during construction in the 50’s and 60’s once in a company locker in their old depot site.

I'm not going to even try to compete with Dan's vast and administratively consuming diecast listings - but here's details of what's still left with me.

I'll let you folks have first refusal, before posting whenever remains up on my general digital car boot sale thread.

A few OMG NEVER TO BE REPEATED 50p Matchbox still unclaimed:

As for the Efsi Land Rover,I had about 12 of those when they were current. There were three roof variants, the canvas type on your example,a metal truck cab,& another canvas type with side windows.None of them seemed to be fixed to the car, they just pushed on,so I guess they were designed so you could swap them around?

I’ve got two of those cabs in different colours, ones the Husky, other is early Corgi and they’re both the same size. Corgi Jr size. But I swear I’ve seen a slightly smaller Husky one somewhere.

The Corgi Juniors Ford D-series Skip truck definitely was smaller, nearer 1:81 compared to the Husky Major (Corgi Super Junior) tractor unit at 1:58 (ish)

While everyone's waiting for @danthecaprimanto start this evening's scramble, I'd like to make a request please.

Does anyone have a set of Corgi Whizzwheels Teledials I could buy or swap? I mean full size 1/43 Corgi (not sure if Teledials where Juniors as well or not).

Lastly @bunglebusPlease PM me details of what I owe you for the Xraycer Mini so I can pay you.

Well I'll be jiggered. I've never seen that, all mine are windows/swage line or no windows/no line. Is it a plastic tailgate? The really early ones had metal but are rare

That one has a plastic tailgate.I never knew about any having a metal tailgate, & I've had quite a few over the years.I had a quick Google & found this, which I'm guessing is metal?,as plastic never quite matches colourwise20230426_181705.jpg.20a809b4dd3f32264faf138a56386bde.jpg

Both great finds.

I really like the Cougar too, they’ve got a really nice shape and look about them. They look the part in gold too.
