Possibly the bestest Volvo ever made. Needs a handfull of brave pills and some serious gonads to take her on.

A rather nice sunset.

I had one of those. My first "big bike".
Bloody brilliant machine. They were actually an under bored 750 as opposed to an over bored 550 and therefore a really low stressed motor. Surprisingly comfortable and grunty. White wheels were shite to keep clean though.

Quite possibly.

If you want cheap waterproof panniers, check out the Swiss Army M90 backpack. Can be had for about 20 notes second hand.
Made from robust rubberised material (oo-er) and with more straps than a gimp convention should sort out all mounting and fetish issues.

Passed another MOT today.
Got advised all springs rusty now and should look to replacing them. 😬

Managed to lose my fuel cap, which means some git at Morrisons has it.
While perusing cheap alternatives on Amazon and wondering if it "really does fit" I thought fuck it and bought a proper one from Rough Tracks. To try and soften the blow of quick delivery cost, I added a pair of wiper blades. The Bosch Aeroblades currently fitted have proved to be less than stellar in their performance. In fact pretty shite would be a better description. This time I went with Hella and the new blades even had little protective sleeves over the rubber. Nice touch. Following yesterdays biblical downpour, I think these are a significant improvement over the Aeroblades.

NZ is interesting - Japanese trucks are sold alongside familiar European models in strange configurations. Some North American stuff too but it's usually stuff for the international market like the International 9800, very few long nose tractors
Yes, almost all the dump trucks were Yanks, but in right hand drive. All the 8 wheel rigids were Euro wagons and the Japanese were small local flat beds, or delivery trucks. A couple of big KW tractor units pulling containers.

Just returned from New Zealand and there was some properly tidy metal on display there. Lots of yank wagons (mainly Kenworth & Mack) in right hand drive.
Local tipper company was running Kenworths. Snapped this while waiting in the Friday afternoon rush.
They also had a load of older KWs but I was always driving when I spotted them and couldnt take pictures. So I robbed one off the net.
Big rigids (oo-er) and trailers seemed to be the thing for haulage. Again no photos from me as it was dark when I got to work and local deliveries happened, so another robbed from the net.
Not sure what this is, but it was making some impressive noise dragging a big ass excavator up the main hill in Queenstown.

Prices may crash when the 450 Himi comes out later in the year as well if you are looking at used.
Do you prefer the aesthetic of the Scram over the Himi?
Thats true. Definiutely something to watch.
I do. I cant dent they Himmy is in a class of its own for technical offroading and if thats what I was doing then, yes its a great bike. I probably only venture on a few gravel tracks or a mates field now and again. That along with commuting makes the Scram a better option for me. I like its simplicity, but lack of power might be an issue.. I am far from svelte.
