Bren
About 10 years ago I has a Sierra xr4i - not the three door bi plane type, but a 5 door with the i4 twin cam engine. It was a limited edition model, mine was a 1990 g plate. I cannot recall ever seeing another. A bit like the old 2.0 is , I cannot remember when I last saw one, I must have been at school. It is a possibility that there are none left. cros and overrun
Split_Pin
I totally forgot about these. I see a languishing D reg xr4x4 from the train each day however. These I do remember.
Mr_Bo11ox
There are still a few 2.0 4x4's knocking about, you see em on the bay now and then. I'd love one. Do they drive any differently to the 2wd version?
DVee8
The 2.0is that i had was the biggest piece of shit that i had the misfortune to own.
Junkman
Around the millennium mark, I had an ex-Dublin cab 1988 Sapphire with a 1.6 OHC, carb, and 5-speed box.Not a bodge job, it had 1.6 badges, paperwork, and all.To this day, I have no explanation how this configuration was possible. Fleet order perhaps?
Mr_Bo11ox
What's odd about that???
Junkman
Post facelift, it should have been a 1.8 OHC, and the 1.6 available pre-facelift only came with a 4-speed.
Mr_Bo11ox
They sold 1.6 ohc's right up to the very end The Reverend Bluejeans and Cavcraft
trigger
That was a pretty normal set up, my old E reg Sierra 1.6 GL was a 5 speed. Cavcraft
Hendry
I remember once seeing a J plate Sierra "Laser" model, this was the one and only time I've ever seen one, every other Sierra you saw all the different trims loads of times, I even saw loads more Cossies than I did this. trigger
This was a Laser, I think it was basically a povo spec but with a sunroof.
Junkman
They sold 1.6 ohc's right up to the very end Must be a UK market thing then. Over beyond you couldn't get the 1.6 after the facelift, and nothing carburetted after 1989 because of no cat.
Felly Magic
I remember driving a Sierra sappy 1.6 Classic on a G plate, base model with no sunroof, all it had was a 5 speed box and radio cassette
CortinaDave
Aye the CAT rules only came into force here in 1992, they were selling 1.6 5 speed pintos right up until production end - using up the stash of parts on the "azura" spec. back in 1998 I had a Sierra 1.3 base with a pinto OHC and dangly mirrors. No grey grille though . Good god was that a slow car, cant be many of those left. B634BGA

oldford
The humble 1.8 LX is rarer than a Cosworth. A 1.6 Pinto 5 speed on a carb, I drove hundreds of them in 1988/1999, so not a wierd factory combination at all, I think that the last of the line 1.6 CVH is quite rare. EssDeeWon
In the 90s my step-granddad had a black mk1 2.0i GLS DOHC on a D plate. I rather liked the mk2 GLS but didn't see many other mk1 GLS Sierra's back then (Off to Google Images) Here is the 1986 Sierra 2.0i GLS which I cannot remember seeing many of. But I actually really liked these at one time RobT and warren t claim
Lankytim
Wouldn't a 4x4 XR4i be an XR4x4? Not that rare, well never used to be.
cort16
I'm sure they did a rear wheel drive twin cam xr4i that was a reasonably low spec affair. It was one above the LX and had just a slightly sportier interior and rear spoiler.I remember one being at a local shite auction years ago and being impressed at how low rent it was. fordperv
LT The mk2 xr4i wasn't 4wd it was just a 2.0 twincam rwd they also did a 2.0 twincam xr4x4 there were quite a few about Oh and trig some Sierra lasers came so pov spec they didn't even have a sunroof trigger

Not a single call despite me asking £150 with 5 months test left. Got £60 for it in the end. Incredibly someone bought it out of the yard and it lived another year or so.
