andy18s Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Had a few different spec Sierra's,from early 2.8 XR4i's,through 1.6 Azura's and a 2.0 GT.My last was K328AUX,which ended it's life having driven from Kirkcaldy to Oswestry with a missfire.( duff plug lead)The resultant borewash from unburnt fuel in the oil killed the engine so was sold off cheapAll gave good service with a little rwd fun in the wet I do know of an early 2.0is sitting in a driveway....
Albert Ross Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I had a 1985 Mk1 2.0 Laser with the "stepper" carb, A4LD, A/C, PAS, and no rear wiper. (Genk built, Spanish spec LHD!)Also, a 1983 2.3 V6 GLS 5 door, built in Port Elizabeth and driven out of the gates by the guy I got it off. Both UK registered.....
dome Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I do know of an early 2.0is sitting in a driveway....Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggggg Please say it's nowhere near Edinburgh. I'd love one.
overrun Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 My dad still says that his B reg Jade Green? Laser estate was the best car he ever owned.I remember when someone nicked the cool 'holey' wheel trims from it. I also remember when my mam was reversing, caught the front bumper corner on a railing and both of the front indicators popped out in this stylee:
Volksy Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I had a Mk2 1.8 GLS, which was a bollocking, as they took the Primera 2.0 SGX off me. Harummph. http://www.theaa.com/staticdocs/pdf/carreports/AA_REPORTS/NISSAN_PRIMERA_2.0SGX_R9250A.PDF
stuboy Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 This was a Laser, I think it was basically a povo spec but with a sunroof. 6879113022_e48795e043_b.jpgi had exactly that model and colour... slooow and basic
stuboy Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 But I actually really liked these at one time that with the white trims is a 2.9 v6 4x4 gls rare as hens teeth
stuboy Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 This is the Ford page for the XR4i from 1990. 6879115920_08679fed8d_o.jpghad H plate in met blue fixed it all, went to insure it and was almost a grand that i couldnt afford.. had to sell it...noooo
Hertz Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 When my Dad had his garage in Weaverham in the late 80's the first car he sold was a B reg White Sierra Laser. The new owner part ex'd a Capri "Calypso" for it. Not seen many of either since. He used to get most of his stock from the Rover Main Dealer in Northwich (part ex's themselves). Happy Days.
Negative Creep Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I would take your arm off for a 1.3 Sierra base I need that kind of misery in my life I wonder if there are any left with the unpainted grille and droopy mirrors?
Billy SR Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 One of my earliest memories in a car was my mother doing 120 in her black 2.0 GLSI. Numberplate was E887 TUE, got scrapped many a years ago though I believe, eventually became a rust bucket
trigger Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I'd absolutely love that, it's pretty much my perfect Sierra there. I really must buy myself one before they all disappear. scruff 1
TRW Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Negative Creep - A member of this board managed to catch up with the owner of that red one floating around London. The owner is well aware of its rarity. There were some pictures of it posted, someone may be along in a bit with one or two.
sutty2006 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Ahhh. The 1.8 LX Many a tail of woe with this motor. Especially hauling it back from Bedford on a trailer and spinning a 180 on the bedford bypass....... Used it for the 2008 scally rally through Ireland, then sold it to a kit car owner for the running gear! Shame, but I bet the 2 tins of hammerite paint out lived the rest of the shell. fordperv 1
overrun Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 My £80 1.8 LX, in 2006. I sold it for £250 an thought I was the winner. Can you I.D the car in the garage? fordperv and CortinaDave 2
inconsistant Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Didn't they do the 2.9 xr4x4 as an estate too? Im sure my friend used to have one for pulling his boat. Quickly.I'd definitely like one of those. overrun and scruff 2

I am sure that they did, unless it was just a Ghia. There was one on Deals on Wheels, where the blokes Primera GT wasn't up to the task of pulling his boat. sutty2006 1

Happy memories of spinning on the bypass, still today I don't know how we came out of that unscathed except for that scrape along your mondeo headlight from the central reservation, the gods of shite really were looking after us that day, another fond memory was setting it on fire when I was welding the inner sill.
danthecapriman Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I know where theres a mk1 2.3 diesel L 5 door hatch sat on a drive, not moved for years but still looks pretty solid. Its either an A or B reg. Some months ago I spotted a mk1 3 door in rio brown with some wierd dealership special stripes on the sides. Couldnt believe it was a povo spec 3 door that wasnt a cossie replica! It was in nice condition too.
twosmoke300 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I had a mint 50k sapphire 2.3 d gl a couple of years ago. Lost about 500 quid on the Bugger. Never had soooo many dickheads call or view a car before. I would have kept it but my missus didn't like it and it was slower than moses's dog.
dugong Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Can you I.D the car in the garage?Looks like an R32 Skyline GTS-T, overrun 1
CortinaDave Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 This was my last Sierra to date back in about 2006/7... listed in a newspaper ad as "Sierra. No MOT or Tax £200" thought I'd ring it anyway. Imagine my boner when I found it was a 2.3 Ghia Auto MK1 in Crystal Green, and that it was tidy.( although this pic does flatter it) Paid £150 for it and it passed an MOT needing nothing. Flogged it 6 months or so later Still exists on a SORN say DVLA Jim Bergerac and danthecapriman 2

twosmoke300 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Probably used as trailer tugs for the banger boys that didn't have a hiab truck . I think a few vectra super touring estates wentThe same way.
cort16 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I though all the estates with the 2.9 4x4 were ghias.
Cavcraft Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I remember wondering why the 1.8s had a reputation for smoking a bit, until I got a job at the car auction and nearly one choked us out. To be fair we got rid of loads upon loads of Sierras, they were very popular motors. I would think the rarest I had was a J (I think) plate GT in metallic blue, thought as a car it wasn't as nice as the black 2.0GLS twin cam saloon I owned for a while.
