What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

first bit of sun and all the f'ckin idiots in convertable cars were out today. one particular pleb in a red audi with the roof down and his three hairs blowing in the wind (and a pale blue jersey tied around his neck by the arms, what a tit) was tootling along at 50ish with one elbow out of the drivers window and the other arm was draped across the back of the passanger seat where his blond eye candy was sitting. I got right up behind him and kicked down the v6 granada to overtake him afterwards purposely drifting over to the soft verge to throw up a bit of dust and chippings onto his shiny red bonnet

ooops :D

Some twat in a E46 BMW 330Ci got absolutely OWNED by my rattly KV6, how that happened I'll never know, and yes, it was stupid and childish but it did make me grin.

Also making me grin was, despite getting completly lost in coventry, I did manage to secure some panels and bits for the KV6 in the correct colour too, tomorrow I'll probably be inventing new swear words trying to fit them on but as long as it tidies the outside up I don't really care.

So far the Xantia has swallowed: a 5-foot pine sideboard, 4-foot solid oak coffee table, bedside table and 4'x3' storage box (that was all in one trip), a gigantic mahogany dresser, and a solid pine dining table (they were seperate trips, to be fair). What's more, it genuinely didn't feel all that different (or use noticably more fuel) fully rammed than it does empty, in fact I was still racing Audis with the dresser on board.

I'd say that even if it spectacularly fails the imminent MOT and heads for the bridge (unlikely), it'll still have earned its purchase price. And to think Mrs_Duke wanted me to buy a clapped-out Transit instead :lol:

Bought some old clockshite today. :D

Been after one of these for a while but they're such a bugger to post I've had to wait for one to pop up locally for sensible money. Needs a few of the arms straightening out properly but it's in good nick and it's all original.

That's lovely, you can't beat a bit of teak! 8)

Paid £30 for it, and the guy (who lived about 20 miles away) practically brought it to my door because he was dropping his missus off at her work about a mile away. Would have cost me a tenner in petrol to go pick it up so I was well chuffed. :P

Some serious wall clock porn up there, I'd love to have another stupidly spikey clock, they're great.

Purple, Les Leston (originals or in the style of, I don't know) mirrors for the Princess. Should work a treat and are a better design than anything else I've had to hand. Just got to wait for them to arrive, here's hoping I don't have a Watanabe wheel style fiasco with them.

Spent yesterday helping friends destroy a static caravan. Beautiful weather, great company and once we'd totalled it, we had a huge bonfire. The cars present for this gathering of destruction included my 2CV, a 1990 Mazda MX-5, a 1994 Renault Espace diesel, my old Maverick, a K11 Micra and a Mitsubishi Delica. That pleased me too. May get some photos up later but I'm off for some Drive It Day shenanigans in the 2CV.

I know this isn't very autoshite, but this car was so dull it really did need livening up a tad and as it is only worth about 48p this seemed a good way to do it without affecting the drivability. Was an amusing afternoon spent news-papering the car with a couple of mates to, covers up the lacquer peel and it is cheaper than a respray. I've left it to dry over night and will cover it in yacht varnish tonight, hopefully that should preserve it from all falling off in a light shower.

In other good news, after 3 days, the Orion's buyer* has finally got in contact to arrange payment and pickup. I'm still not particularly hopeful as his messages are comprised entirely of txt spk and his address is still in North Yorkshire, which remains fucking miles away. But still, it is encouraging.

eBay 'enquiries' :lol::lol::lol:

I've had to explain to Mrs_Duke why she shouldn't send any more serious responses without checking with me first :lol:

Phil, has the 106 bonnet been 'bad-boy'd' or is it just the paper that made it look that way? Also HTF did you get the paper to stick? Does look quite good it has to be said.

I might be tempted to wrap one of my old cars in wallpaper, like you used to with exercise books at school. I think the 2CV could be improved by a bit of flock wallpaper.

I remember school books wrapped in wallpaper. I went to school in the 70s, I shudder to think what some of my classmates houses looked like.

In true shite style my jotters were wrapped in woodchip paper!

I like that very much. If it lasts longer than five minutes, I might be tempted to wrap one of my old cars in wallpaper, like you used to with exercise books at school. I think the 2CV could be improved by a bit of flock wallpaper.

Is it possible to artex a car? I guess it would stop people from leaning/sitting on cars as a bonus. My new dream car: an artexed 250GTO replica in beige.

It's raining so no varnishing the Peugeot tonight sadly and it will stay under cover for another night to be varnished tomorrow evening, to dry on Wednesday.

@autofive; no Simons buying this Orion, luckily by the sounds of it.

@Cavette; no badboy bonnet, the original is still in place, but I agree that the newspaper and the picture do make it look like its got one. The paper is stuck on with wallpaper paste, so it will be getting covered in yacht varnish as soon as it stops pissing down to water proof it.

@beko1987; there are some crosswords and Sudoku puzzles scattered around the car. It was a plan, but we decided we liked the idea of a different paper on every panel more.

@peter; the door handles will be getting painted shortly, possibly this weekend. We were going to do the bumpers but ran out of time. Need to get a copies of the Telegraph and the Mirror for them though.

@dollywobbler; the original plan was pretty much exactly what you described. I have had a plan for over a year involving a rover 400 estate, horrid patterned wallpaper on the outside and turning the interior into a 1970s front room. I was hoping that 418SDI was going to be veg oil friendly and I could enact my scheme on that, but alas no. I will keep the early, prettier 414 bonnet in the back of my wardrobe until I do have one as the horrid chrome mouth will be the first thing to go as soon as I do get one.

I look forward to driving this about, shedding a trail of paper where ever I go.

Picked up the keys to my unit last week :)

I was sick of 5 separate council garages and working from home was becoming a bit of an effort with the kids on half term. So i decided to solve both my problems with one hit.

1100sq ft, 1 very nice office, and more importantly, plenty of room to mess around with and store shite :)
