I believe I have said episode from yourself. Can upload it somewhere where you can download it from.

Actually, I think I might have 2 DVDs of A to B. If so I'll send ya one.

Let's launch a campaign to find the rep in the Cavalier. Who is he? What became of him? Did he get the Calibra? Does he still sell industrial packaging machines? I'm guessing from the accent he'd be from the Leeds area?

I tried to work out their names from their signatures at the end of the episode to see if they're still alive.

Those are the cooling towers at Tinsley on the M1 he drives past twice opposite Meadowhall.

Don't think he was from Leeds as he says about driving though there and Sheffield so might be more south Yorkshire?

Just watched the second one and I want to punch 90% of them. The first one I can belive they were all smug salesmen but the couples seemed to be made to argue or be petty

No wonder, did you notice how much time was spent in silence looking at absolutely bugger all?

I understand the 'From A to B' project was a collaboration between the BBC and the photographer Martin Parr - a lot of Parr's photography uses empty space and has a strange, observational quality to it. I'm gonna guess he had a fair bit of input into the framing of various shots. The accompanying book of the series is well worth seeking out - Amazon has used copies listed from a tenner up.

Hard to believe this was all screened 22 years ago!. I watched it at the time, and remember BBC4 screening it again over the winter of 2008/09, very late at night. Art meets chod. Nice.

Now we know one of the guys filming was Martin Parr, could be worth asking him?

Dunno how likely Martin Parr would be to respond, but it's possible to get a message to him through his website:

Mind you, there's a chance that he might have some interest in shooting an Autoshite series - photos of cars and their owners that are admittedly shite, and in many cases shoulda been scrapped years ago, yet are driven daily with a mixture of pride and bloodymindedness? Just the kind of 'cultural peculiarities' he specialises in, I reckon.

Has anyone ever posted the missing fifth episode anywhere online?  I've been trying to find it for ages with no luck.

This seems so quaint now.

It reminds me of when me, my brother and cousins travelled in my Uncle's old Saab 95 estates - he had two on the trot, one yellow and one red - and when we saw another Saab we would all shout SAAB!

We would also shout ERF! if we saw one of these trucks because he drove one for a living.

The kids all seem quite well behaved, even the one who tells the joke about the doctor and the 'boobs'.

The family in the Volvo sitting down with their picnic next to a busy main road, lol, but at the same time it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

This is unusual for me.

As George Orwell once said, I wish I could be Flaubert for an hour just to describe how I feel about this doc.

Also, that guy with the Rickety Rentals Cortina definitely has the right idea.

Although I know how Sonja feels, as my dad had a knackered, rusty old lime green Marina coupe with a red boot and a major problem with exhaust fumes seeping in to the rear cabin.
