Shite dreams

Last night I bought an immaculate black MkV Cortina on eBay...In my dreams! It was V or W reg with the first three letters "MHN", presented Doctor-style. The bodywork was gleaming, the tyres were brand new on restored rims, and the spare was in a black bag in the boot, and was absolutely immaculate when I opened it, saying "oooh-ho-ho!". Owned by a middle aged couple with at least one kid.The only thing was I never got to drive it because time kept going back and forwards! At the beginning of the dream I'd already bought it and it was at my place with the two other cars. And then I realised that I hadn't yet posted on here about my purchase! Next thing I was bidding on another black Cortina on eBay that was at £500 and something just because it had the same MHN numberplate (!) and I was trying to find the other auction for the car I'd bought to check it was the same... then I was being shown round the one I'd bought by the seller and about to pay for it. After looking in the boot, we were underneath and he was showing me the immaculate rear axle with new nuts and bolts that were all greased up, but loose (!) so I was tightening them down. Then I woke up!Has anyone else had such vivid dreams about shite?Mark.

I'm both amazed and appaled that you remember the car over the details of the women..... :)"Yeah, and these two birds came over to me and wanted me to take them back to my place so we went and got in my car.... a 1600GXL with a vinyl roof and trim rings. Looked great. Metallic brown with a tan interior, used to clean it every sunday and it had a great Goodmans stereo in it. Got my mate Bob to fit a better exhaust manifold, sounded excellent and a bit more top end. Totally 70s. The women? Oh, erm, they were ok."

Er I was about eight lol  there was something quite sinister about it all though like I (the cortina-driving love-god) was stabbed or something

Funny the subject of dreams coming up. I dreamt we did Top Gear again. Took along a Mk1 and Mk2 transit, but bizarrely all they talked about was building work. :? So I am stood there while they discussed getting planning permission for an extension, and I thinking WTF did they want the vans for? They ain't putting any of that rubble in em......:lol: Very odd.

I had a dream that I'd somehow got a job as a sales rep and my car was a Korean special-import Daewoo Espero, converted to RHD. It was a weird specification which doesn't even exist, a V6 automatic and had a digital dashboard, red velour (including the doorcards) and some kind of fancy 2-DIN radio which said had loads of flashing lights and would flash up "AUTO-REVERSE" in red when you turned it on. Also the back panel between the brakelights would light up along with the normal ones so you'd have a huge brakelight. The whole thing was two-tone, metallic brown at the top and bronze at the bottom.Anyway, I had a meeting at some place far away so had to go down the M1 for absolutely ages and it was at night and chucking it down, ultimately I pulled in at the services for a bite to eat, but nothing was really open except the slot machines and one of those cash points which charges you, so I left and kept going down the motorway, pulled off and eventually found a 24-hour Tesco but they didn't really have a lot either so I had to get a sandwich and pick loads of stuff off it, plus the drinks range was pretty bad so I ended up getting a can of Orangina or something. Then I woke up. That's what happens when you doze off in front of Autoshite after a few beers.

I had one once. One of the oddest experiences of my life.I was in the back of the family car, some years ago, going down the A1 or somewhere equally tiresome. I began to doze off. As I did so something like an old Merc went past. I fell asleep but dreamt I was wide awake, in my dad's car going down the A1. Except instead of distance we were traversing TIME. The cars going past the window began to get older and older until they were the kind of things used to see in the late 80s. A hefty smattering of 70s tin, along with the odd 60s model and newer stuff. No-one else was in the car and it was driving itself. All I knew was that we had gone back to 1987.Strange eh.

I used to have several reccuring dreams which stopped thankfully about 3 years ago. Anyway, when I was little I went to a nursery which had a long (probably not really that long but I was small) wide path leading from the car park to the school through some small woods. I used to reguarly dream that I was being chased up and down it by a Datsun 120Y with the funny hubcaps trying to run me over. It was either lime green, red or white. I used to wake up terrified!Strange child...

I once dreamt that I'd found a mossy Alvis TF21 parked down next to my parents' dustbins (this was in the '80s when they weren't worth much). In the dream I had forgotten that I owned it and remembered that it had been tucked away down there because it had starting problems.Early next morning I leapt out of bed with a huge sense of purpose intending to drag the nonexistent Alvis out, rebuild the carb and get it running. I had my socks on before reality dawned. Such a disappointment!

I had a dream about Autoshite last night... I woke up suddenly at 4:30am, and I was somehow convinced that somebody had posted in the eBay thread a dark blue miniMetro and a Sierra BASE estate, which had the black grille, dangly mirrors and no headrests but was metallic blue for some reason, seemed a bit too fancy. Anyway it was on a £100 BIN.I managed to resist the urge to get up at 4:30 and rush to the computer... I still had to check when I got up though  My excuse is that I'm a bit ill (again :( )

Anybody want to hazard an explanation of this...

Had you left the telly on when you had fallen asleep and had dreamt your own images to an episode of shite U.S. tv programme Urban Legends?

I regularly start to drop off on the sofa with the telly on and have a kind of semi-concious dream half whats happening on the telly half a dream.

Keep meaning to try it with porn.

A recurrent dream before I started driving, driving along roads which I recognised but couldn't place, in the dark, in the pissing rain, before pulling into a Texaco garage to fill up. Always woke up just as I was pulling back out the garage and didn't quite see a truck coming.

The car? A Bedford Astravan. I still have no explanation as to what I'd been eating/drinking/delete as applicable...

A couple of nights ago in my dream I was driving along a residential road and saw an immaculate blue Princess parked at the side of the road... and then another identical being driven by an old guy in the same vicinity. I was trying to follow so I could take a picture, fumbling in my bag for my camera phone, but grabbed my digi camera instead and by the time I got it turned on, the Princess was gone.

I realised afterwards that this was probably prompted by the lovely blue one at the Woking Classic Car Show last weekend.

My recurring dream is that somehow our old '85 Mk3 Escort is still stored away in my mum's garage. In the latest version, I pledged to take it away and restore it, and was thinking about how I'd start a post on here about it!

Mark.

Many years ago, (I think before I started driving) I had a dream about driving a Mercedes 200 W123, I was on some dirt track, then started cut across a field. I was driving quite fast and felt a bit agitated or had something on mind.

I never actually saw the car from the outside but for some reason I seem to remember it a metallic Blue/Green with a Tan interior.

Incidentally I have never driven a W123 Mercedes, in fact I have never been in one and have only driven one or two modern Mercs.

I went to Madame Tussaud's in my dream last night. It was full of these mad Renault 12 things with huge bubble wheel arches and some slight Porsche 924 addons, lined up, with Chinese plates on. Basically, like the Rover factory photos when it closed down, abandoned, but not yet moved. There were loads of this type of thing just parked up inside, and Morris Minors x 100 with the same chinese plates on. I looked out the back window, and the car park was full of all this NOS shite, backed onto a factory that had Chinese signs over it. Think these were destined for China or something?

I got my camera out to take photos of all this shite in Madame Tussaud's, only to realise that at night, it turned into some depraved sex club where everyone was doing bondage, and it meant I would look like some saddo taking photos of everything. I did end up thinking, what the hell, and started taking photos of these cars, with all the people in bondage draped over them. Some woman tried to escape out of a 10th storey window by scaling along a thin ridge on the wall - I couldn't look as she was blatantly going to plummet to her death!

I then woke up! I thought, I know I'll check my camera, and lo and behold, the photos were on my camera!

And then I woke up again!

I've had odd'n'ends of car/bike/truck dreams, mostly because they're in my blood.

The really odd one is the 'engine head people'. They look exactly like people, except they have engines where their heads should be. All sorts of engines, and there appears to be a social hierarchy, based on cylinders and capacity.

The Ford Flathead heads all wear 30's zoot suits. The Jap turbo 4's all wear shellsuits. It almost always takes place in Argyle St, Glasgow, on a busy Saturday afternoon.

They are usually pretty friendly, and don't seem to mind my not having an engine for a head. I've been dreaming this one regularly for a very long time!
