Fixing it?
A lot
Yes and yes.

It was one car I actually kept a spreadsheet on and so know the total costs.... Which is a rookie mistake!

Why no floppy disc with spreadsheet on in the boot, Mister ?

I'm honestly very grateful for everything you did for the 820, mate. It really is a lovely big green bastard once you tickle it under the chin.

ohh thats weird, its acting exactly like JNJ135L does

it wont come up on the DVLA checker, but it comes up on the MOT checker and 3rd party tools and sites

but does NOT have any scrapped or CoD flags according to my special tool...

I wonder why its fallen off the DVLA checker...

(normally cars only fall off the DVLA checker but remain on the MOT checker if they have been issued CoD, which got me very concerned for JNJ135L until I was able to verify that it still exists thankfully!)

I managed to drive it back over the woodhead pass with no brakes...after that, there was no way it wasn’t going to live on!

I wonder why too. Glad to hear there's not a scrapped or COD flag against it. Would you mind running my Focus through your tool please LBF? Just interested in what comes up.

what exactly do ya wanna know? keep in mind its not quite a full HPI check so i cant tell you insurance things or what have you, just DVLA related stuff

just asking as the tool is a low on credit right now so trying to stretch it as much as I can before I have to lob another top up at it (especially as i'm in the middle of another Invacar hunt LOL)

Just wondered what shows up on it, in particular keeper changes and how long each person had it. Sorry I didn't realise you were low on credit on it

Acquired from @snagglepuss in a convoluted deal for a 9-5 Aero which I can’t find a picture of at the minute. Not sure what to do with it...needs a bit of tlc to pass MOT and tbh it’s surplus to requirements at the minute but it’s not a bad old thing...

There’s probably more but I’ve lost count ?

It's been an exciting* year here at Dome Mansions

The S4 is still here and was a fabulous companion for the North Coast 500. It's going nowhere

S4.jpg.bca845655ce8b3cd88ae90e8dd6ed3ca.jpg

The A2 of my drunken roffle win where I bought most of the tickets anyway and was gifted some more(thnks guys!) went to @320touring of this parish. I was able to drive around the coolant leak problem and the car in general didn't inspire me enough to pull the head off it to fix it.

A2.thumb.jpg.d7c53babf46a26c54a1aa96a646d694a.jpg

The MR2 engine swap was completed and did us well. It's also going nowhere, a suspension refresh is on the cards and some more track days are in its future :)

MR2.thumb.jpg.dc4a11fe5216f0747a02cf20ebc9bf3d.jpg

This lovely old heap came and went. It went through an MOT with a bit of work and was a very pleasant way to plod about. The killer blow for me was the LPG system failing followed by my local LPG station closing. Shame, I did like this thing. As above it went to @NorthernMonkey who passed it to @barmatt, I'd be keen to hear how it's going?

Exploder.thumb.jpg.116e52581776c3282eb45951c1241897.jpg

This little honey came and went fairly quickly. One owner, 26k. I passed it to a mate who still has it and it's still going well.

Starlet.jpg.c97a083b7bc5bf138d5a6a9131f6dbcb.jpg

In the search for a sensible commuter to keep the miles off the Audi I bought this. Octavia Scout 4x4 TDi-think Aldi Allroad. It was broken, I fixed it. i decided I didn't actually like it so it's for sale.

IMG_20191207_132709825.thumb.jpg.82b8677d61151f522c931fc447605c0c.jpg.4da3397a0306207ccef7f8d37abcf321.jpg

Enter stage left sensible commuter no 2. Bought cheap with a noisy gearbox it's only done 63k miles. I serviced it, rebuilt the gearbox and apart from an ABS light and needing the backbox replaced it's pretty good. So I'll probably sell it.

JAzz.jpg.2227dcfbdcaaacbbc24dda78e8ce61aa.jpg

Oh and the Locost is still in my lockup and has been for over a year. I need to dig it out and sell it. I'm looking at you @gm...

Definitely interested, or may have a go at building my own - there's a couple of kits based on mx5 mechanicals that could be fun

There's a story to tell. I'll update the other thread instead of here.

Posted

Starting Balance:

- 850 TDI (MavisNotMavis)

- 205 1.8D

- 850 2.5 10v (kind of)

In:

- 307 HDi

- C2 1.6 GT

Out:

- Nil

The dead 850 will hopefully be away in the near future, along with the 307, once any useful bits for the remaining living cars have been stripped. The C2 ideally needs to go too, though it needs a bit of work and an MOT. I need to find a set of wheels and tyres for it to be sold on as I want the GT alloys for the 205 for a set of semi-slicks to live on.

It's quite amusing relaying that you have 5 cars registered in your name to a debt consolidation company, even moreso when they ask the total value and you tell them £1k max.

Won this in a roffle held by @rusty998, I didn't fit in it so passed it on to sister in law and her fella after they fell on hard times.

Suzuki of joy and Toyota of pleasure still present, however I may get the 'zuki MoT'd and sell it for something a little more comfortable.

Driveway storage: 3
Off site storage: 3 (but one space is the garage and that is in use temporarily for house moving)

Age difference to me: 5.6 years newer

Hopefully next year I'll have space for another car. Not sure what it'll be. Thinking I may bite the bullet finally and get a Clio 172/182/Trophy.

Well that turned out to be a correct determination!

Start of Year: Dolomite, MGB, Boxster, A4, Laguna

+ 1968 Austin 1100 (maybe/maybe not sold yet - looking at this picture makes me question if I should be!)

IMG_20200526_151303.thumb.jpg.5b256b7a1f5a6fb62f8263378541d1aa.jpg

+ 2002 Clio 172 (prediction correct!)

IMG_20200830_194639.thumb.jpg.5de0a48c6e76fc726ab269395d52465e.jpg

+/- My old 2007 Civic (sold to in-laws 2 years ago, they bought new car so I sold on for them)

PXL_20201103_161035246.thumb.jpg.c974b6c3617e466d6f95bb0503591534.jpg

+ 1985 BMW E28 520i (collection and work on it will start next year)

24648554_PXL_20201121_1541160612.thumb.jpg.1cb594c2b7dda9bbabe25bfce89d7167.jpg

End of year:

Vehicles: Audi A4, Renault Clio 172, Porsche Boxster, BMW E28 520i, MGB GT, Dolomite Sprint, Austin 1100

Driveway storage: 2 + 1 garage space + 2 on-road (limited to 1 on-road to keep missus happy)

Off site storage: 3 (lost off site Garage but gained additional storage bay)

Average age: 32.6 years

Age difference to me: 2.2 years newer

Made me realise I possibly have too many cars! Not least the amount of work they all need doing on a constant basis. Definitely 6 cars is my upper limit and the 7 I'm at becomes a strain. Not least one is a full resto job.

Big difference from last year is that I (FINALLY) moved house and gained a proper place to work on cars in the garage. Shame my Mojo has significantly diminished since then 😕

I suspect in a years time I'll be cutting the fleet down. Not least to save costs. Question is what goes though... 😬

the leaf.  It's not interesting, nobody cares, I don't have any pictures of it.

Oh here:

IMG-20191031-WA0017.thumb.jpeg.0ee1d0c95a51bc135febdb5ea74e80b1.jpeg

We still have that.

I have this sad panda

IMG_20190130_175515.thumb.jpg.f24e7cebcce326f67152228fccd4e7b7.jpg

Mrs L1 bought this from Max:

IMG_20190826_111535.thumb.jpg.bb468ebcb32d68885de893723dea1f0c.jpg

Which is amazing and she still has, but probably not the right car for a family trip to Toulon.

With @Six-cylinder's cabriolet roffled I bought what I should have got in the first place:

IMG_20191121_152936.thumb.jpg.1965753b4fdfd032914e9070bbeb0dda.jpg

Which I still have, and is probably the best car I've ever had.

Not a terrible starting point for a year, but we started the year by looking to move house and to visit @TontonTdB in Toulon again, so we needed a cruiser.

First of all the LEAF went.

IMG_20190718_190220.thumb.jpg.ec9a8ccfb238e2913c45660e605043cf.jpg

Off to Scotland where it's being enjoyed with public only charging.

Then the 305 went

IMG_20200215_130825.thumb.jpg.49096895421e8e1f34564c8cc80dc397.jpg

405 still kicking about though.

In came half of this

IMG_20200516_143850.thumb.jpg.d4b4c8b826e18e21079b27cb4b79c91a.jpg

A frigging great car, now swapped for a pink childs bike.

Then this

IMG_20200605_211633.thumb.jpg.c30e3000074436b7ec57c70e00ebd4a3.jpg

Another brilliant car, in great nick.  Rapid and economical, and so low it was unusable on the roads around here.  Mega shame, probably should have just lifted it back up again.

Instead I bought this

which to be fair has been brilliant so far, and is about to be SORNed for the winter to save a bit of tax / insurance money.

I also ended up getting this

Which has needed a bit of fettling but is turning out to be an excellent car.

So:

IN: Half a 205; A whole 205; a 306 estate; a 406 estate

OUT: LEAF; Half a 205; 305; 306 estate

Still here: 405 estate; 406 estate; 205GR; 206GTI.

206 has been treated to a cambelt and a proper fettling courtesy of Mr Jimbob McGregor and is very much a favourite.

And we also managed to move house, so now I don't have a garage.  (yet)

Predictions? We're due another sproglet hopefully in March, so; mk1 Multipla, Eurovan1, Expert teepee, Renault Trafic.

Aspirations: 505 break de Dangel.

Still on fleet...

Approaching 188k now. Still going strong, although probably needs a new hub at the front to stop the discs from warping. Required a new offside rear coil spring for MOT, which had to be purchased from eBay as it was £160 from main stealer.

New to fleet...future modern shite:

Very leggy (91k), turbocharged petrol, very acceptable family wagon with mod-cons and Isofix and the general space and things you need when you have two kids under 19 months (or will have from January).
