Eddie Honda
What did we learn about the GSA today kids? I learnt some time ago that: 1. You don't rush for the Belfast - Liverpool boat and ignore that you are running on empty 2. Get off at Birkenhead and run out of fuel just outside the port. 3. Call taxi and buy yet another spare fuel can and five litres of pez. Junkman, Magnificent Rustbucket and 320touring
Fabergé Greggs
Every chance. There is more choice than ever. Just because they aren't £25 a corner any more, doesn't mean you can't get them. Back to GS/GSAs, part of ownership is just forking out for Michelin XZXs and getting on with life. Yeah but I want £25 a corner.. tempted to try one of those Continental winter tyres as a spare. I wonder how they’d handle the balmy summers Wingz123 and 320touring

Broadsword
This has to be one of the more interesting vehicles on AS at the moment, I've been following the thread with increasing interest. Seems like a massively unappreciated model from Citroen's back catalogue. Now I want to import one from France. How's getting spares for these? 320touring

How's getting spares for these? With a combination of Mrcitroen's assistance on here, plus some Google Fu, it looks a bit better than CX parts. But nowhere near the support I'm used to with old BMWs. Seems to be a relatively well supplied specialist/enthusiast source of spares. I'll report back once I've started ordering / fitting bits. Tadhg Tiogar
With a combination of Mrcitroen's assistance on here, plus some Google Fu, it looks a bit better than CX parts.....New CX parts are mostly monopolised by the profiteers at CX-Basis. Their business model is basically hoover up all the NOS parts, then jack up the price by a factor of 3 or 4. Had a feckin' heart attack when I realised they were charging 80 Euros for a badge. 440 Euros for a headlight is not on, and a grand for a used front S2 bumper moulding is beyond the pale. mrcitroen and 320touring

In fairness to Rob Moss who runs Chevronics, he says he ploughs his profits from G parts sales back into re manufacture of NFP parts. Prices are salty, but no where as near as bad as CX Basis. Tadhg Tiogar
.... Prices are salty, but no where as near as bad as CX Basis. The risk that CX-Basis runs is that their prices end up killing the industry they set themselves up to supply, but as long as there are sufficiently wealthy customers in NL and D, they don't care. Eddie Honda
It's a fucking expensive business remanufacturing things. Add on top making a living and it's a miracle anyone bothers doing it. If you want cheap, buy a fifteen year-old car and spend time hoovering up end-of-line stock. Magnificent Rustbucket

If you want cheap, buy a fifteen year-old car and spend time hoovering up end-of-line stock.Yep...I remember there was some looking into remanufacturing some of the unobtainable RHD steering system bits for Ladas back around 2003, when the cars were still relatively plentiful compared to these days. It was a job that needed a significant five digit sum of money up front to make it even close to realistic. ...credit to Lada though, they did say they were quite happy to make some for us...but we needed to order 10,000 or more units with payment up front of I remember right! The thing which in years to come that I think has potential to make things like this more viable is metallic 3D printing. The tech is coming I believe...and I look forward to the year where the dreaded "no longer available" ...or NFP to us Citroen owners...is no longer a major problem so long as you can find a decent engineering drawing of the bit... 320touring
This wouldn't start this morning. Cranking over well, choke/accelerator made it cough but no dice. It did it last time I started it (Friday) but eventually caught and ran normally. It has a half tank of fuel, battery has plenty life. Initial thoughts are Fuel run back to the tankA spark issuePossibly spark plugs sooted up?

Sounds like cheapest solution in terms of work before getting involved in looking at fuel runs. I recently had something similar, but Frogchod told me to have a look at the fuel pump relay. I wiggled the relay a bit and everything went back to normal...! Now have to sort slipping auto gearbox.
