Soundwave Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Staying put:2017 Skoda Fabia - the daily driver, and will continue to be so until either it dies or it becomes impractical to run an ICE vehicle every day.1971 VW Beetle - apparently still exists somewhere, haven't even looked at it for quite some time. In kit form.1996 Mazda MX5 - currently in hibernation for the winter. Now in its fifth year with me, despite being purchased as a temporary car. OUT:1995 Rover 216 SLi - finally decided to say goodbye to this so I could make room for other projects. Scruffy but actually quite endearing.1996 Renault Laguna estate - the "other project" I was making room for. Unfortunately turned out to be rotten as a pear and ended up becoming bean tins in June. IN:1996 Renault Laguna - As above. Came in January, left in June.1995 Rover 216 SLi - With the Laguna gone and having failed to buy the Saab 9000 of many shiters, decided I needed something for FoTU. Fortunately the mate I sold the Rover to didn't need it any more, so I bought it back!1988 Saab 9000 - Wanted to buy this, but couldn't make the logistics work. So instead, I bought the Rover back... and then this came back up for sale reasonably locally. So I've now got both of them. This was not how I'd envisioned things. So we've had an In-and-Out, an Out-and-In, and just a plain In. Overall fleet balance: +1 worldofceri, grogee, MiniMinorMk3 and 13 others 16
Fumbler Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 OUT: Micra. Faithful steed of 4 years. Not much to say on this really apart from it was mega frugal. Started falling apart after 1 winter's use. BX. Arrived already falling apart which was a plus over the Micra. This is how I spent most of my time with it because it wouldn't stay fixed. Funny, that! Still is my favourite car so far. IN: Ford Fiesta Style. Micra's replacement. In fact it's so boring and so unremarkable I've neglected to take any pictures of it since buying it... and even then I still can't find the picture. Volvo 850GLT. I snuck this out of Scotchland while the SVM wasn't looking. This is it sucking all the money out of my account. Six-cylinder, RobT, worldofceri and 8 others 11

Split_Pin Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 A typically busy year for me fleet wise: Staying: Rover 75 Diesel. This continues to be a great car. Gingernutzz did a great job welding the sills in January and that's all its really needed. Red Saab 93: Done 5000 trouble free miles in this now. I had the Noobtune map done and now it goes like the hammers of fuck yet returns over 30mpg. In: My wife wanted the red 93 but I said no and bought her the brown one from Jazoli of this forum. She loves it and it's been a great car. Another one fettled metallically by Gingernutzz so it should be good for quite some time to come now. Cavalier 1.6 I bought this blind from ebay in June and had it transported from Hereford by Ceri and Inspector Morose. It turned out to be a great car with zero rust. After 2 other Cavs I'm really happy with this one. Out: Honda Civic 2.2 Diesel. Despite *that* non-opening boot , this was another solid purchase with tons of life left and zero rust. It was always intended to be simply a stop gap and it now lives with Supernaut. Interestingly, although this picture was taken in July 2021, I now own none of the cars pictured. Audi Cabriolet I was actually really sorry to see this one go and may have got momentarily emotional when I made the decision. My only roffle win in February 2019 from 320Touring. It provided 3 years of faultless service. But I really wanted another Cavalier so this was sold to fairkens of this parish. I'm quite happy with what I have for now but as usual something always jumps out at me! OM646, MiniMinorMk3, cort16 and 12 others 15

Eyersey1234 Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Unlikely to change before the end of the year so I will put my contribution in now. At the beginning of the year the Eyersey household fleet consisted of one 2010 Corsa and one 2015 Focus,at the end of the year the fleet consists of ....... One 2010 Corsa and one 2015 Focus, so net balance is exactly the same rob88h, Six-cylinder and AnnoyingPentium 3
cort16 Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Pretty slow this year for me. Out I had this 7 series for 18 months and loved it. It was better than I hoped and while I did have to spend a few quid on it, it never actually broke down. Final straw for changing it was the AC shitting the bed on the hottest day of the year on holiday and we had to drive home hanging out the window like ace ventura. Granada Out. Can't remember if this was late 2021 or early 2022. This was a really, really nice car. 2.8 (2.9 really) with 5 speed manual. Never really gelled with it though. In BMW 320si will hopefully see the road early 2023. They brought 500 of these to the UK and there's about 150 left on the road because of their highly explosive engine. Bought with a duff timing chain and now running but needs a few things for the MOT. I'm reluctant to invest lots of money incase it explodes. in I needed less car related drama in my life that was being provided by the 7 series so I got this photo copier salesman of the year 2019 spec Megane estate. Highish miles at 85k but very clean, nice spec and does 50+mpg all day Remaining The 200,000 miles Megane R26. I've had this for nearly 3 years now and would like to spend some money on it next year. I love the colour, I love how it drives, I love how quick it is. It's a trooper 500tops, grogee, Coprolalia and 17 others 20

Supernaut Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Balance from last year: 1998 BMW 323i sport Passed its MOT in October after some fettling from Gingernutz and some replacement parts in the front suspension. Knocking on the door of 182k miles and I plan to drop the gearbox oil and replace the bushings in the linkage in spring. It's currently an ice cube as I write this. Out: 1995 Peugeot 205 1.8D Inca. A genuinely hilarious wee thing to drive, but I needed something a bit more capable of longer journeys. Driving it up to Aberdeenshire and back resulted in my right ankle starting to cramp from holding the accelerator pedal down so hard for so long. It went to Tickman first, who welded up the boot floor and some other stuff, plus replaced some engine mounts etc. Then Ged had it for a bit and now I don't know. In: 2009 Honda Civic 2.2 diesel. As alluded to above by Split_Pin, I have it now. It got a set of Avon all-seasons fitted to it back in the summer, and Ged helped me rig up a way of opening the boot (using a cheapy aftermarket remote locking solenoid powered by the 12V socket in the boot). It will do the longer journeys that the 205 was uncomfortable on, while returning superior MPG, performance and comfort. Bloody moderns, eh? It also received new discs and pads all round, plus a replacement left rear caliper and left handbrake cable in October, and went on to pass its MOT in November. Having both cars so close together is slightly stressful! Here's it looking nice somewhere en route from Plockton to Ullapool when I took it round a fair portion of the NC500 in late September while the BMW was getting welded up. I was slightly bitter I wasn't able to take the BMW, but the Civic was still a good laugh on the twisties. This post has reminded me to get back out there with my camera more, too. gm Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 for some reason, I have two years to catch up on here going back to the end of 2020 a Bini CooperS, a mk1 mx5 and a half built Exocet the Bini was fun but way too thirsty for a daily so I set about finding a Honda crv and came back with another mx5 which was was fun but way too thirsty for a daily so I set about finding a Honda crv and actually came back with a crv this time then some scrotes tried to steal the catalyst and rather spoiled the car for me so I bought another Bini (only a cooper this time so fun and reasonable mpgs) meanwhile the Exocet continued to make slow but steady progress jumping forward to 2022, I started the year with the green Bini, the black mx5 and a three quarters built Exocet then I went to Scotland, got drunk and came back with an alfa 147 which was ok but didn't hang around for long, I replaced it with another diesel civic then it was time for the Exocet to take its IVA test which it failed so I did some remedials and took it for a retest which it passed in the meantime, I'd gone to Scotland, got drunk and come back with the little red smart car then won a roffle so went back to Scotland, got drunk again and came back with a 206gti the 206 was only a brief visitor, being sold to fund the purchase of powertools the smart hung around a little longer until I got bored of omgmpg and longed for a little more fun so I went to Scotland, got drunk and came back with another Bini CooperS so to summarise, 2020 : Bini, MX5, Exocet 2021 : Bini, MX5, Exocet 2022 : Bini, MX5, Exocet not a bad selection there, I reckon Tickman, AnnoyingPentium, UltraWomble and 17 others 19 1

Zelandeth Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 In: 2002 VW Caddy SDI. Bought in January from @Marm Toastsmith. Without doubt one of the most useful vehicles I've ever owned. Just wish the ride wasn't so harsh. 1988 Renault 25 Monaco. Appeared out of nowhere about a week ago...I've been after one for the last 19 years so couldn't pass it up. Out: 1986 Mercedes S123 230TE. Passed on after I came to the conclusion that it had what I came to refer to Schrödinger's Engine which may or many not have been about to blow up at any moment due to historic neglect. I didn't have the time nor enthusiasm to get into a complete engine overhaul or replacement, so it was time for it to move on. 1983 Citroen BX 14RE. Got into a running, driving state, cleaned up and properly assessed then moved on as I knew I was never going to get around to major hydraulic line replacements which require the rear subframe to be dropped. Hopefully will be on the road again in the coming year. In & out: 1978 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6GL. Had been planned as my Spring 2023 project until the R25 appeared out of nowhere about a week ago. Technically still here but the sale has been agreed so just waiting for the logistics to be finalised. Non movers: 1973 AC Model 70. Can't see me ever parting with this little rattle box. Just puts such a smile on my face every time I drive it. 1990 Mercedes 208D AutoTrail Navajo. Slowest, noisiest thing I've owned in a long time. Dick Cheeseburger Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Still here - MR2. It was 12 years old when I bought it. It turns 20 next year. Traditionally, I've been a bit of a @Jim Bell when it comes to holding onto cars. Not this one though. I'm still surprised Toyota sacked them off in 2006. This one now requires a fair bit of work but will be sorted. Still here - E91 touring. The best car we've ever owned, end of. Fantastic motor. Sold - Spanish Golf. Lovely car. Shame about the gearbox. Shite on fuel too, which is bizarre for a lowly 1600. Bought - 1960 Lambretta Li 150 series 2. Original to UK scooter. Lots of original Italian parts had been lost over the years which I've been steadily sourcing and replacing. Love this ratty old thing. I've enjoyed working on it so far. Bought - 1960 Lambretta Li 125 series 2. Fresh Italian import. Cleaned up and moved on. Wish I'd tried making a few more ££ as I could have sold it ten times over. Bought - 1960 Lambretta Li 150 series 2. This one was a 2019 Italian barn find and had been mechanically restored. Paint is original. Cleaned up and is currently for sale. 2009 Datsun Sasquatch. Bought as a winter hack and to prevent the MR2 from dissolving in the salt. Very mixed feelings with this thing. I've not owned a lardy EssYouVee until now and I can't quite get my head around it. I'll probably move it on in the new year and buy a small engined petrol motor instead I reckon. UltraWomble, worldofceri, dome and 7 others 10
rob88h Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 We all love cars, yet a common trend at this time of year is the wish for fewer (outwardly at least, grounded in practicality usually, despite our deepest inner thoughts being to have all the cars). This year I have actually managed it! -1 car. Out: A4 Avant. B3? I can’t remember now, I briefly got into the VAG diesel world but soon moved on. It was a very capable car; all the car you’d need, but a bit grey soulless and dull despite its front/back engine FWD setup curiosity. Non-Movers (figurative) Mini, 440 and Focus. All have experienced substantial decay I feel, but are still hanging around. Non-Movers (literal) MX-5 and Granada (and a Buzz [collective Noun] of Raleigh Runabouts). It’s an older photo of the Mazda as it’s so buried now in garage junk! Oops. In and Out Sierra DieseL. A fairly substantial recommission job which was satisfying to have achieved and followed up by taking it to a couple of shows. I’ve a soft spot for this car and remember it fondly. Rover 45. I had no right getting this attached to my Rail Replacement Rover, bought to bring me, my mate and our bikes back from John O’Groats for the price of a train ticket. It was “nice” but had its problems. @MrDuke took over. Daewoo Leganza. Another of life’s curveballs. I was pleased to have a go on this and help lengthen it’s life a bit but shifted it on to @Erebus at cost less some Mars bars. Here’s to 2023. mk2_craig, Dyslexic Viking, grogee and 17 others 20
Jazoli Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Fairly quiet year for me Sold this Roffled this volvo of my sadly departed FIL's Sold this old civic Sold this kwak Also bought and sold a Volvo V70 which was knackered, deleted the pics from my phone so I would no longer feel the financial pain Bought this Merc bought this RT, then sold it a few weeks later as I didn't like it bought one of these for my daughter, it was too big for her So sold it and bought this (which now has the correct mudguard) then i bought this for daughter no2 as the repayments on her new clio were too much for her and wbac offered her a way out due to silly prices currently so maybe not as quiet as i thought it was, I'll maybe replace the Merc and the wife's car next year when prices hopefully become a bit more sensible. Six-cylinder Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 The declaration as we entered the 2022 was to sell 10 cars and buy one special car. A bit of a turn round for somebody who every year has been making their collection larger. Cars purchased in 2022 · 1986 Mercedes 230TE W123 · 1974 Citroen Ami 8 Break · 1971 Triumph Toledo 4 door · 1963 Peugeot 404 The Mercedes 230TE was not a good start to my fleet trimming as it was only January! No excuse I just liked it and felt there would not be an opportunity to buy a running W123 Mercedes again for a reasonable price so grabbed it. I had for 3 years been thinking about changing my 2CV for a Dyane or Ami and had just about given up on that idea when a forum member turned up with an Ami 8 Break that I could not resist so by March we were two up. The motivation for the change was to have an A series Citroen that was a bit more individual, wider cabin and tax free. I am pleased with the result. The Toledo was an opportunity to buy an up and running Triumph Toledo and release a longer term project. This has worked out well and I have attended several Triumph meeting with it. There is no excuse for the Peugeot 404, I put on my rose tinted spectacles, went lar lar lar to the voice in my head that said no more projects! I am still happy with what I bought and do not regret buying it. The special car is still not bought. Cars sold 2022 · Alfa 156 V6 Saloon · Mercedes CLK 320 Convertible · Mazda MX5 · Citroen 2CV · BMW 325i SE E30 · Peugeot 306 Cab · BMW M3 Evo convertible E36 · Renault Clio 2 RN 1.6 Auto · Triumph Toledo 2 door · Citroen Visa 17RD E reg · BMW 328i Coupe Msport E36 · BMW 735i SE E32 · Triumph Spitfire MK3 with 6cyl MrGTI6, Tickman, brownnova and 20 others 23
