dozeydustman Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Because life is a fashion show Seems likely because its not nice to be dirty and smelly? Changing socks, pants and other underwear at least once daily is a given. But a top that's been worn for only an hour or so of an evening could surely be worn the following evening if nothing gets spilt on it or haven't been somewhere with strong odours? Sometimes for 5-10 minutes before deciding that it looks crap with the skirt/trousers/cardi - surely putting back on the hanger for another day would suffice in this instance. For the record I am neither dirty nor smelly, except after I finish work when I throw my workclothes in the wash then have a shower.
Tadhg Tiogar Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Went into that there London last night to Hamersmith Appolo to see Sarah Millican (some may think that is enough of a grump but it wasn't that bad really) Any way now onto the grumps for the evening. Is it possible to just go into a normal pub and eat normal pub grub and have a normal pint any more ? ...Not in London. London hasn't been "normal" since the 1980s at least. Why anyone would want to live in London I will never know it is just an overpriced shithole. It sometimes feels that only the very rich and the very poor can afford* to live in London. The rest of us just struggle along. I rarely go into central London now - 'tis too many people and too much paying through the nose.

Is it possible to just go into a normal pub and eat normal pub grub and have a normal pint any more ? Everywhere just seemed to be poncey overpriced food in packed bars with neatly trimmed beardy hipsters everywhere. We finally got a table in this pub to find that the only beers they do are all these micro brewery crap that tastes bloody awful. So I reverted to cider but no normal ciders only stuff you have never heard of. I will say though that the Seacider black cherry pie was rather nice and the food was ok but bloody expensive. The journey home was a nightmare though as some dick in a Ferrari had decided to stick it into the central reservation on the A4 which caused a massive jam for miles. Then after we get out of the smoke there were miles and miles of roadworks with cameras for 50mph which is boring as hell in the middle of the night. Why anyone would want to live in London I will never know it is just an overpriced shithole. We had that when driving back to Kent from Leeds. The whole top half of the M25 was closed (clockwise). Total nightmare.

I find the place utterly depressing and even a day there is far too much. And it doesn’t need to be like that, go to Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Lisbon and loads of other capitals and they are brilliant places to be without all the shite London seems to have. richardmorris Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 My mum has just called to tell me that a girl ( well, woman now!) I knew from school and church killed herself on Friday. Her mum called round to tell them. Both she and her Mum are bipolar ( plus a couple of cousins so there’s something going on in that gene pool) and apparently she’d had enough of the meds. She’d been talked off the a5 bridge at cefn a fortnight ago ( that’s a serious drop), and was sectioned but as she was responding to the drugs they let her out. Took an overdose, but don’t know what yet. Makes you stop and think when someone you know does this. She must have been so unhappy.

clayts450 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 That's terribly sad. I know a lot of people with BPD opt to come off the drugs all together because they make them feel so shit all the time, then they somehow just cope with the ups and downs.
richardmorris Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Unhappy or Ill ? Either way shit Mentally ill certainly, but I think “unhappy” was probably a poor choice of words. She was doing ok when living with her Mum, who made sure she took the meds. Then left to go back to her ex husband last week as she told her Mum she didn’t want to be controlled.

I'd ask Mrs PBK why but I really can't be arsed any more. We looked in an estate agents window and rental on a nothing special place was £450 a week !!!!! You can get somewhere down here for around that per month. There are so many better places to live cheaper with actual friendly people who will talk to you and not look down their noses on you. myglaren and The Reverend Bluejeans 2
Pillock Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Though if you work in London then you're paid more so it doesn't matter that a pint is £6 and a flat costs a grand a week. Obviously when I say work, I mean have an office job with an advertising agency based on one of the streets round the far side of the monopoly board. I hate London prices, because I live in The North (as the M1 signs always remind me) so I only go out for drinks there if I'm absolutely sure someone else will say "don't worry, I'll get these". 320touring Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 I'm in and out of London regularly with work - and I work in the centre. Can find good beer/food at reasonable prices, plenty to do, good museums etc and the transport system is easily better than anything in Scotland. A lot of it is perception - I just try to have a decent time wherever I am and nab any experience I can. Pillock, Royale80, chaseracer and 7 others 10

GrumpiusMaximus Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Always have, you just need to know where to go. It's two stops on from Shattered Dreams Parkway, right? One of the Five Live drivetime anchors made a joke about that the other day when the other one was complaining about London. It was completely lost on the other host and I was deeply disappointed. w00dy Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 I made the mistake of googling the registration to my old CX. This is how it looked when I sold it 5 years ago This is how it looked 7 months ago Fuck.
DodgeRover Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Wierdly I spotted a red CX estate on the back of a scrap wagon today. Haven't seen one for a long while.

pandamonium Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Less than 3 months after selling my Mazda 929, I heard it had been scrapped. That was heartbreaking.

I'm from London (well Chingford) and while the above is true I wouldn't live there now unless I had to. Compared to twenty years ago the house prices and congestion have increased so much that the quality of life is just not there any more. It's great for a visit but to actually live there, afford a house and get to work each day? No thanks. purplebargeken, The Reverend Bluejeans and Tamworthbay 3
D Spares & Tyres Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Yep sad isn't it. I sold my lovely early Zender kitted sinker Xantia on here in the hope it would be loved as I had no room for it and if I used it for work I would have ruined it. I sold it for less than if I had sold the parts. instead it was just weighed in due to a minor fault. I'm still sore about this. If the buyer is reading this I'm not looking to fall out over it but that car was way too good for that. I should have just ran it til it developed a fault then broke it It's a life lesson now though. If you want to save a car, just keep it. You have to assume the worst if you sell it. Fumbler Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Mother's Polo was sent over the rainbow bridge of dreams in 2004, 3 years after it was sold. A better prospect than others but the mileage on it was so low it must have crashed... or dissolved.
