If we all started burning our rubbish in our gardens they would soon relax the rules.

Was in Fraser's in Dundee and saw  Lee Cooper t-shirts at 2 for £11.50. Bought 2 then realised I've just given Mike Ashley £11.50 🫤

If you didn't have protected characteristics the authorities would wreck your life.

You say that but Kerry county council (Ireland) charges by the bag and consequently you can smell burning plastic all over the place on a still night.

Council and central government don't seem to give a shit.

It was green for pedestrians, but turned to red as I was crossing the street.

He went through one of these

Ah do as I say not as I do. You'd still be in wrong if you were driving & he was crossing.

I bought this Otofix D1 Lite diagnostics machine, proudly advertised as being "powered by Autel", Otofix being some sort of budget/consumer subisiduary. I bought it from the official Otofix store on Aliexpress.

OTOFIX D1 Lite - 2025 OBD2 Scanner with CAN-FD, DOIP & 21+ Languages | eBay UK

I sang it's praises to begin with, it was very decent. I probably only used it 7 or 8 times in the 11 months since I got it, but it was very useful when I did, until it stopped charging altogether that is. Not to worry, I will simply take advantage of the manufacturers warranty...

Trying to get this repair or replaced under warranty has been an absolute nightmare, Chinglish messages exchanged with a two day delay on Aliexpress, them suggesting a firmware update on a device which cannot be powered in any way, asking me to upload videos which is impossible within the Aliexpress message centre they insist on using.

Just don't bother, I get that electronics can have issues but their support is dreadful, they're £200+, so absolutely not throwaway money.

Upload a video to Youtube and send them a link?

If they keep messing with you, get Aliexpress involved, they don’t look too kindly on that kind of thing.

Yes. This. I work with the general public and this is particularly noticeable post pandemic.

It doesn't help that people are often promoted into positions of responsibility-often without the necessary skills and experience.

That is a real morale breaker as I'm sure many of you have observed  or experienced.

I can give an example. I was verbally assaulted and threatened at work. I went sick on duty and reported the incident as above.

Yet the title of the 'investigation' paperwork was titled 'behaviour' and the 'Officials report' was heavily weighted against me.

Now most of my colleagues are broken or resigned to this shit, however I challenged it and months after this all kicked off, my grievance appeal was successful.

I would be surprised if this was unusual in general and the industry I work in is known for it's toxic environment.

I just don't understand why many people need to create a toxic environment. This is precisely why I got out of office work. Almost every place I worked at had some sort of 'environment'. It seems like you need to be a bastard to get ahead in places like that which I understand can create a very stressful environment for those that have to suffer it.

Some places I worked at were Ok, but ongoing work was hard to come by. Some other more long-term work I could almost feel the wall of toxicity as I walked through the door on my first day.

Had it a lot in customer service too, people feel so entitled to talk down to you which isn't good or healthy for the soul or mental wellbeing, which is why I left the industry.

"We listened to your feedback and you told us you liked booking appointments for the tip" and other such bullshit.

My council's tips are still free to use with no booking appointments.

I do think that for some areas its certainly unnecessary and nothong more than power play by otherwise useless MPs, but for others, like Birmingham it is necessary. I remember back in the day having to wait out on the main road blocking it before you could get into the tip. Nowadays, with the booking system, that main part of the road is always free flowing.

Saw this Focus 3-door in my local scrappers. 2001 on a Y, 1.6 pez in Zetec trim. Colour is ‘Aquafrost’. I think it’s done about 62k so fairly low mileage.

Sadly the sills are crispier than a spring roll from the Chinese. I wish I knew how to weld. I hate seeing things like these go to waste, three door as well for bonus rarity. Needs a lot of paint and a lot of TLC but that’s all part of the fun, right?

Shame. When you collecting? 😅

Is it for sale? Not wanting to buy obviously.

I tried that, but the Aliexpress message centre whacks URLs...

I have requested an alternative means of uploading, if I've not heard by Monday will get Aliexpress involved to hopefully resolve.

Swinton insurance can get to fuck.  Due to family things I'm going to be running my dads blue 1.5 diesel Focus rather than my 1.6 for a couple of months.  It's then going up to Scotland and my son +partners 2 litre estate might be coming back.  Went to swap the policy over and they wanted £250.  Took out a full year with Direct line for £240 with no NCB!

The number of fucking scam listings on Facebook Marketplace is untrue, and fucking annoying trying to wade through them to find genuine adverts.
Report them and fuck all gets done

Had this at work. I used to have some fairly comfy Dunlop wellies (made comfy by putting in a few insoles). My main job is cleaning machines using a powerful hose. When they split, it was horrid, was glad to get them off at the end of the day.  It took the company a couple of weeks to order in a new pair and have them delivered.

Mine split while I was helping out on a school trip when my son was about 8. All the kids had wellies as we were rock pooling. Of course they all jumped into the sea splashing each other with the water getting into their wellies. When they got back to the bus and had to take their wellies off, they all got told off for getting their feet wet.
My feet were as wet as any of the kids so I sneaked away around the back of the bus to change my shoes.

My broadband is down. They're currently saying it will be back at 6pm on the 2nd. My neighbours phoned the ISP and found out that it's planned maintenance/upgrades in the area. It would be nice if they gave notice of such things given how common remote work is these days. I currently cannot access the stuff on my LAN and the internet at the same time, because I'm relying on the hotspot on my phone. This is a massive ballache and getting in the way of me getting any useful work done. It went down for 20 minutes around lunchtime, then came back up for an hour, now been dead since then.

Hotspot is shite because I'm only getting 35/2 rather than the usual 900/100 of the fixed line or 100/100 I get on 5g outdoors.

If they really don't get it fixed before Monday it will probably make me lose money, or at least put me a day or two behind on an upcoming project. I rely on the gigabit quite heavily because I regularly have tens of gigabytes of footage to download from clients. The internet at the office is shared so I'm limited to 20mbps down, it is usually more time efficient to download at home the night before and take it there on a physical drive. Not sure how that's going to work now.

The worst part of it though is it has convinced me to give the ISP an extra tenner a month for them to supply a mobile data failover device.

Another tyre damaged on our 2010  fiesta, 11 tyres in 25,000 miles, all damaged not worn out,  the state of the minor roads around here is appauling and 195 45 16 tyres just don't seem up to it.

Bit the bullet and spent £250 on a set of secondhand 15" wheels and 60 profile tyres hopefully that will fix it.

And today a £270 parking fine, which they say has escalated as we’ve ignored previous correspondence.

We haven’t, this is the first we’ve received. Apparently, she over stayed the 90 minutes allowed in a local shopping precinct car park, on 25th October last year. A car park that says you have 4 hours and doesn’t have any payment machines. She only ever goes there to take our eldest to the gym. She does wait for him but he’s never more than an hour. Now we have to argue our case FFS! Cunts! This precinct has the gym, a large Tescos, McDonalds, Greggs, travel agent, M&S, Boots , TK Max, Dentist and charity shops. 90 minute limit is a piss take and blatant cash grab.

Challenge it. There's someone online who specialises in it, but not difficult. Un-needed stress, tho
