Been to makers central today. Met Alec Steele. He's a really nice man, even to useless gimps.

Passed a cheap tyre place on the Halling road and there was a Citroen C6 outside with the wheels off... and my first thought was 'I wonder if that's someone on here'

I make crochet blankets out of yarn leftover from my own projects and that's been donated to the local charity shops.Ā  They're a fun light project when I need to keep my hands busy, and the finished blankets always end up with friends, in the winter box at home, or at the local animal rescue shelter.Ā  It's a good way to make something useful out of something that would otherwise be thrown away.Ā  I didn't pay much attention to what I picked up today except for one ball having a rather old fashioned looking label and instructions.

Then I took a closer look.Ā  Nylon isn't a thing you normally see on yarn these days, it's usually acrylic or polyester, so that's a bit unusual.Ā  Then I saw it was spun in Liverpool specifically for Littlewoods.Ā  There's no date, but BS 984 was introduced in 1976 so perhaps that gives us the oldest date it could be?

Scrolling through an old thread and was reminded of this gem from Mr_Bo11ox a few years back.Ā  Absolute poetry.

Quote

I hate 'its only worth what someone is willing to pay' cos it is such a tedious, predictable, pointless clichƩ of a sentence that adds nowt. When you see these bell ends on FB asking 'whats it worth' day in day out, EVERY SINGLE TIME you get some parsnip-fingered nonce piping in with 'its only worth what someone is willing to pay' like its some great nugget of profound wisdom that's going to part the clouds of uncertainty and finally allow beautiful rays of deal-making sunshine to fall on the whole dismal exchange, when in reality its just the car-trading equivalent of two tubercular cretins pointlessly throwing breadsticks at each other.

Nice, I do watch him from time to time. Found him a bit loud and shouty at first but there's no denying the skill and craft and now I usually watch šŸ‘ŒĀ

Being old/retro/vintage/nos your going to find it's the best darn yarn you've ever used and you'll never find any more šŸ˜‚šŸ˜¢Ā

Screams at least 1970s to be, the design on the packaging at least. Remarkably clean yarn for its age
