Fantastic, I've just noticed a dental filling which I received a couple of weeks ago has gone loose

I thought something wasn't quite right as this particular one felt quite sensitive when none of the others I received on the same day did

I was quite concerned because the dental nurse/assistant was clearly inept, as the dentist was trying to give him instructions on what to do, and it sounded like he was messing things up, while she was doing the fillings..

Similar to what happened when I got a bridge reattached. The normal assistant wasn't around and the replacement seemed jittery. They reattached the tooth,(it's only one) to its neighbour, the dentist got me to close my jaw to check the bite, whereupon it fell straight off. The second attempt felt ok, but fell off within a week. Luckily, the third attempt with the normal assistant has lasted the best part of a year.

Have to say I fully support any people qualifying to join the dental industry, but I don't think he was quite ready to be working with a real patient.

Luckily being a filling it wasn't a particularly crucial procedure but it's probably prone to infection now...

My dad collapsed yesterday morning and was rushed into hospital then shipped off to Monklands for scans and tests, looks like something is up with his kidneys.

Stupid idiot had been pissing blood since Wed and never told anyone.

Just had to drive his car home from Monklands without insurance and was shitting myself the whole way home 🤣

Speak to them ASAP, they should re-do it urgently, FOC. Ask me how I know :)

Had to do similar in 2021 with My Dad's Picanto; He drove himself to his GP surgery whilst having a heart attack,

Got away with it thankfully and he made a decent recovery, I'm now a named driver on his policy which he (unusually) agreed to without debate.

Hope Dad makes a full recovery, we had a few dark days but mine is back to his old self and still lives independently in his own home today.

Hope he’s ok, my dad went in with the same problem and died.

He's a dentist with a history of poor filling work? 🤷‍♂️

Happened to me years ago with a filling, and this year with a set of dentures that fitted badly. They had to re-make them. NHS dental work has a 12-month guarantee.

If they are reluctant to re-do, having gone through their complaint procedure, mention NHS England. That got me a booking for denture replacement the following week (though, obs, it takes a couple of months for the process of making them).  If your compliant is with a hospital, then my wife found PALS very helpful once inthe past.

Then they'll be asking why trade is falling.

They’re starting soon to charge for parking at Meadowhall to support the ailing town centre which is quite ironic.

I posted the (unbagged) dog poo left by my neighbour’s dog in the communal garden, through my neighbour’s front door.

There was never any poo in the garden again.

Yep  rare I go there but won't be anymore, I'm sick of the cash cow motorist being the solution to  any problem.

Like your style. Once chucked a freshly laid on my front lawn dog shit at a neighbour who straight up just said no and looked at me like i was the cunt when i asked if they were going to pick it up. Was worth the turd tinged hand to see their reaction of having shit all up their white puffer jacket. That dogs not shat there since either.

Pretty sure what house over the back is chucking the bagged shit. Kind of need to know for sure before I confront them. Ill be polite but of course as everyone deserves a chance. If they continue to be a bit shitty then they'll learn real fast all about shit.

Love dogs but hate left shit since the days of picking it out my bmx tyre/falling in it in the park playing footy as a kid. Bag it and fling it is even more of a cunt move what with the plastic waste.

Ill catch them one day.

The pop and bang brigade can get in the sea please.

It's been like a near continual bloody artillery barrage for at least the last two hours from over by the train station.

Best part of a mile off yet it's still loud enough to both be properly grating in the house and is repeatedly setting the dogs off.

Is car insurance going up? The Laguna insurance needs renewing at the end of the month and I’m getting quoted about £100 more than the cheapest quote last year, no changes to the policy, no claims etc. I’m not sure if it’s al a result of inflation/ current economic conditions etc or just price gouging by insurance companies as everything else is going up and people just have to cough up.

Yes. Insurance has gone utterly insane lately.

I was £610 (or there abouts) for the Civic last time i insured it. Looking at other cars, i was getting absolutely eye watering quotes for pretty mundane stuff that was getting me prices i could have insured a Range Rover for not so long ago and ran a check on how much i'd have been to insure the Civic now had i still had it, with a years extra on the NCB, no claims, year older, same address etc, and they wanted £830. (The renewal price i was quoted before i got rid of it was £720 which i thought was a piss take at the time given the lack of claims etc, but it's gone up another £110 since then even).

And that's not even accounting for the fact that many places are now also throwing on huge compulsory excesses.

Cunts.

Significant inflation in repair costs, parts shortages,  garages struggling with staff (wonder why?) means repairs take longer so car hire costs are more etc

My Civic increased from £364 to £508, for me an my youngest son.  I presumed it was because I am over 75 now.

It's partly because of the car hire arrangements that the companies enter into. For some reason they pay far more than normal published hire rates, and claims take a long time to go through. It could take six weeks to finalise a claim where a car worth £10k is written off. Six weeks car hire at £200 per day is £9800, effectively doubling the claim. The concept of injured parties doing something to mitigate their claim seems to have gone out of the window.

Suns out nowadays and all the local cycle club lot are out treating the roads on my commute as their own personal race track.

These wankers again!!!!!

I was *cycling* to work on Saturday morning, I stay mostly on tracks and trails but there was one stretch through Hassop where I was on road.

The whole bunch of about 20 of them decided to overtake me while we were going round a sharp left hand bend. The pack of them cut the corner and forced me up the fucking kerb, I very nearly copped for it!

Now I'm sure it probably "wasn't that close" from their perspective, but I don't spend every weekend riding in tightly packed groups with other bikes so when I've got a pair of handlebars less than a foot away from mine at 25mph, it's pretty jarring!

Stick a foot out and watch the whole “peloton” crash, and then post it in the “grin” thread.

Cancelled Shell phone and broadband using their online tools. Binned the landline, went to 4g internet with 3 last month.

Got an email saying it was all cool.

Got a full month's bill from Shell today.

Just called them, it hadn't cancelled. Cheers.

The malaise of the modern world.  I joined The Future today and got myself a smartphone for the first time ever.  It's also my first brand new mobile phone and my first contract phone.  I hate it.

The reason for getting it is part of my core income involves getting paid online and Mastercard has rolled out another bizarre rule for creators having to prove their age.  This time, you need a smart phone - or a webcam, but I tried that by buying a brand new webcam and part way through the process it says I need to now use my smartphone which is just... yeah - to prove you are as old as you say you are.  Simply scan the QR code (another first) with your smartphone, take a photo of your ID with the same, and then a selfie of your own face.  Fine, no bother.  Took a couple of attempts to get the hang of the phone's focusing lag and how to best hold it but that's normal.  Processing... sorry, we couldn't verify you are you.  Okay, no bother, let's do it again.  Great, that's my face and processing... "that's not a face."

Er, yes it is.  Repeat several times with the same result.  My face is, against all information to the contrary, not actually a face.  That means I can't prove I'm as old as I say I am (which is weird because they have my bank info and that says I'm old enough to have the kind of bank account I do and therefore old enough for this age verification thing) and if I can't fix this by the time the September deadline rolls around I won't get paid.

I absolutely despise this part of my job.  I went self employed precisely because my face doesn't fit in regular employment and now I'm being told my face isn't even a face by a device that isn't even a person.
