Don't they ask for a couple of invoices as well? Toyed with the idea ages ago but got the impression HellFrauds are very possessive over their trade cards.

Depends on the branch.  Some are super relaxed about it, some aren't.

Not as far as I can tell

The person who checked it wasn't sure if it was enough but asked a more senior (well, older at least) member of staff and they said it was fine. To be honest they're definitely not paid enough to care.

Ref my grump from the other day.Re  XLN

A big thankyou to @panhard65  and Ofcom.Looks like Ofcom contacted them yesterday. My broadband problem has been resolved. I have an email confirming no added costs and the phoneline switched over today.

I went to the grocery store and back.

The car didn't miss a single gear change. It was nice.

The weather's a little cooler this afternoon! (28°C).

When an order arrives with this impressive an assortment of stamps, there's a strong chance of packaging joy inside.  I was more excited to find out what had been used than the item I'd ordered (period Stadium brand mirrors for the Lanchester).

If someone is taking the time to use up all the ancient stamps they've got to send such a parcel, how resourceful have they been with the packing?  1971 Farmer's Weekly from South Africa is how resourceful they've been.  What a treat!

I love this advert for General tyres so much I'm sticking it in a frame and hanging it on the wall in my 70s-themed work room.

Asbestos house, anyone?

Just mega.  Best of all, the mirror wasn't even that expensive and arrived sooner than expected.  Top marks to that vendor.

I waggled my staff college pass and said I helped out with the motor course.

I've had one for years and not saved a great deal with it. I had my Stepsons Staff Card and that was better. I have a photo from their staff room that's not supposed to be seen by the public with what was discounted.

I had to smile at the total incompetence in these photos. Also explains the hubs being on the wrong sides of the car front and rear so the spinners undo the wrong way and a rear wheel hub retaining bolt squashing its heavy washer being off centre.

The lock wire was bad enough but 4 rear caliper bolts and their original washers placed on two bolts was outstanding!

The better half was tidying in the front garden the other day and found a carrier bag containing six cans of Stella hidden inbetween the front wall and an overgrown generic bush.

Happy days says i until i spied a best before date of June 18 on their underside.

For research purposes i sampled one and it wasn't very nice (even for Stella) so it all got poured down the sink.

But i saved an empty can for a little bit of silliness on Boris the Morris.

I used to do this to all my cars ignition coils when i was thirty years younger.

Just think, when that was published, the apartheid era was well into its stride and Mandela was in prison.

I haz bought an electric axe:

Marvellous device!

Of course being a cheapskate bastard I'm buying bags of this crap for £5 a time:

s-l1600.jpg

Offcuts from furniture for god damned hipsters.

Normally I feel quite knackered after chopping a bag of it, but with new toy I've done two bags today and only feel moderate pain. One slight flaw is for safety you have to hold a button with one hand and press a lever with the other hand to operate. I think the theory is you can't put your hand in the squash zone. However you also can't deflect wood that flies at your head. But minor problems.

Something like that would do brilliant for me, I have a nice Swedish axe and a shitty B&Q one that I sharpened bit I'm also really weak so they're not really any good!

Pretty sure a bypass of the safety switch isn't beyond you @jakebullet

They've been a bit sneaky, there's a push button that makes the pump motor run, and the lever that puts fluid to the ram. But the ram doesn't return to the start until both lever and button are off, so you can't just stick a clamp on the switch. Suspect the answer is replace the switch for an off/on one instead of push and hold. Or maybe a steel sheet to protect my head a bit.

Long shift at work, soldering iron in hand repairing damaged cables and the like. A bit tedious, but worthwhile.

Meanwhile my brain weasels are out in strength, telling me I've fucked my brain because I shoved my LFT swab too far up my nose yesterday (I think)

Day done, drive home... and it's raining, heavily in places. Get flashed by jerk in a Merc because 70 wasn't fast enough and I had nowhere else to go at that time. Well, the weather is matching my mood, if nothing else.

And then later, into view hoves something that had me smiling from ear to ear and I felt the need to wind down the window, stick my arm out and give its driver a resounding thumbs-up.

So thank you, LOD 701P and your driver. 🙂

my neighbour has been moaning that when it rains, water leaks from my gutter onto his satellite dish, buggering up his telly :(

so I had to borrow the big ladders

nothing to see here, officer !

IMG_6434.thumb.JPG.bf9049c79ba5a3a0b463147aa1e6eba7.JPG

turns out the gutter was full of crud and the downpipe totally blocked - you can just make out the square shape where there should be a big hole

IMG_6435.thumb.JPG.105c3dfaf091748b9dba4fafcd4d6a01.JPG

one bucket of crud removed later and he can get back to his eastenders and I can have a beer :)

I should really invest in a set of roof bars

I had to move this old thing today,as we're tidying Miss_155's driveway & it's in the way

20210806_115732.jpg

It started 1st turn of the key,I think the 1st time I've started it this year. Also, the rear brake which was stuck on,seems to have freed itself😀.

Time to think about getting it back on the road I think.
