danthecapriman
Here’s one of the models I was most keenly waiting for. Yes. It’s a Commer Walkthru van! Actually it’s one of, as I bought a pair! Or really it’s a Commer Santana - built in Spain under licence but pretty much exactly the same. I happen to have to hand a Triang Spot-On model to compare it with. They are both pretty much the same dimensions just looking at them, which you’d expect with the Triang being 1:42 and the new IXO based one at 1:43. Obviously the newer model blows away the old one in terms of realism, but in fairness the Triang was meant as a toy. The newer model is very very well detailed and does look exactly like what it’s meant to be. Cab detail is excellent too, which is good given the big windows make it easy to see into. Paint finish is generally good, though there are a few blemishes and thin paint here and there - not that it really detracts to be honest. Logos and writing are printed really nicely although I can’t read Spanish!! Definitely a fantastic little model that came in well under £20. I’m dead chuffed with these! One will be going into SEB livery of course. RoadworkUK, Reluctant Adult, eddyramrod and 7 others
Christine
These came , 43rd Honda Honda Honda ! The 3 door hatch is an EJ9 like mine , rather than the usual EK9 type R models with the bigger roof spoiler . They are x -concept 'Modifiers' ...usa market , so scarce over here.. Lidls sold flap disks last month 4.99 for 4 ..a week later i went to get some more , and got 4 boxes of 4 for a tenner offer at the till...so i went back and cleared the shelf of all of them !! That IXO Commer-Santana looks great, it's also got the extended snout for the 6-cylinder petrol engine from the Humber Super Snipe (detuned, obv) It's modelled better than the Lion Car one too It's on Barcelona plates as well, so modelled on one in this fleet Quote Logos and writing are printed really nicely although I can’t read Spanish!! flat4alfa
Yes the Husky ones have the snout too While EFSI stuck with the flat snout, got three in that flavour. Circus van has its ladder. barrett
Hello, men. I finally (after what, three months?) found another cheap Lion Toys Daf. This one is a 46 so almost at the opposite end of the spectrum from my 600. It's nice! quite basic and chunky, no suspension or opening bits, but nicely modelled and I just love this as a subject. This one was in an auction which ended at 4am so I think I got lucky and got it for the opening bid. 155V6
I called into Poundland on the way home & found these two I'd not found the Minor before, but wasn't really bothered as I don't like the real car much(especially standard). The model looks really nice though, the colour & wheels really suit it for me. Then I visited the charity shop which I missed last week & was really glad I did as these were all two for a pound So pleased to find the Cortina,I'm guessing the Datsun came from the same track set? Jon
Have another from the recent UK sourced diecast box: Dinky 147 Cadillac. This one was in a bundle deal from @dugong, some months back. I love the raised roofline on this, with the extended glass coverage really accentuating the long, low belt line. Or something, I don't know. The colour is glorious, too. I'm no Caddy nerd and the baseplate is no help in ID-ing it but my best bet is it's a 1961 Sedan Deville. The narrow track, although likely accentuated as much as the glasshouse by miniaturising, is nevertheless quite accurate looking to me. Seems the track of many post war US cars took a while to catch up with the width of their bodies. Indeed, that's one of the many elements of modern rims on older cars I dislike, as they always seem to try and 'correct' this. Here's the view you'd have in your fading moments, as the nefarious bunch of hoods burble off into the desert night, back to the casino. Actually, this model seems a bit highbrow for such activities. Anyway, a lovely item that's now displayed on the living room book shelf. Indeed, the Hong Kong Dinky Riviera has been ousted, to make way for it! eddyramrod, danthecapriman, FakeConcern and 6 others

Split_Pin
Cor, I need to get a load of these part work cars, some of them are fantastic. I love the Ford Fairmont. I loved spotting Commer Walk Thrus as a kid, just as much as Leyland FGs. I always preferred the ones with the longer snout. I think they were also available with a Perkins diesel. I had an EFSI one years ago, no idea where it went, probably sold it. I much prefer the Husky effort with the longer nose, sliding doors and a driver, a fun model. I think mine came from St Georges although it was at least 4 years ago. There's still one parked up on the shores of Loch Ness that hasn't moved since at least 2012. It belongs to Steve Feltham who holds the record for the longest Nessie vigil. The Commer still looks pretty spruce, I've no idea how though! It was a mobile library before he bought it. Christine
Obviously i had to unscrew the baseplate on my Civic ej9m earlier .,to look at the interior. What a bunch of beauties! Lovely Jag too. @Jon Yes you're correct, 1961 Sedan deVille. I had a 1962 in almost the same colour so a Dinky 61 holds that place in my Personal sub-collection. The glasshouse is slightly too tall, yes, and the track a touch too narrow. By the time these cars were built, GM (leading with Pontiac) had started to widen their track, although hardly to modern widths. And why on earth did Dinky use such small wheels? andrew e, Jon and danthecapriman 2

Correct on South American cars for extra cooling, but on euro cars the bumper was flat all the way across. Ive got a few of those Sierra’s and one will be getting painted up like the Cardinal red grey grill base! If it's not in WH Smiths, it's not distributed in UK and only available on a mail order subscription. Example is the most recent DeAgostini 'American Cars' cars collection: https://www.deagostini.com/uk/collectibles/american-cars. Would have been great to pick up that green 'Cuda, but sadly I doubt they would have sold very well in UK even if carried by the shop and likely end up discounted or sent back unsold. Just walk into a Newsagent in (for example) France and it's like a different world. The newsagent is also the main book shop, not unlike a Waterstones premises merged with the magazine rack wall we see in a UK Newsagent. No racks of confectionary or tins of meat for the cat. eddyramrod and danthecapriman

There’s quite a few of those models I’d like! I’ve never seen that collection on a shelf or even advertised anywhere here in the uk. Shows just how much we actually end up missing. The only ones I’ve seen advertised on tv are a few of the build your own series - where you get part of a car or whatever each time. Even then, I don’t recall ever walking into a newsagent and seeing it on the shelf. Toy and model shops abroad are the same too. Over here you get a few good ones but abroad you get some absolutely fantastic ones stocked up with whatever you can think of. Some of the US model shops are incredible! I got some stuff from one in Florida once, mail order, and they had photos of their store on the website… you won’t find a shop like that in this miserable little cuntry!
