Inspired by this 1:1 seen in France a few years ago:

Alpine Renault A310

First kit completion of 2023:

In the company of Majorette's 1:55* version that I got at Brentwood back in January. Generic metallic bronze paintwork, with Halfords clearcoat. Not sure if it's meant to be Ford Roman bronze, but it will certainly go well on other 1970s builds I have in the (very long) pipeline.

After the 1:43 Princess I said I wouldn't anything that small again, but since then I've got varifocals and it was certainly easier so this time so I will look out for more in the range.

They still do the A310, and I'd particularly like to get the VW K70: https://www.heller.fr/en/category/vehicle-car

The 1:24 Renault 4 van and trailers look interesting too.

*Handy to find it was this scale, that means it'll sit nicely on the Siku transporter I got last weekend. That's playtime for tomorrow sorted....

Honestly, MrsDC's Mk1 Yaris is absolutely formidable in the snow. It just goes straight through, no messing.

She knows a few horsey people who also rate them; see also Citroen C1/ Pug 107/ Toyota Aygo.

I've seen them go places in the snow that Land Rovers can't...

Didn't even know they'd made a 4x4 version until now ! Is yours an ex-Japan import?

Yes, mine's (actual) JDM, Yo! Bought post covid 3 years ago for a song, it's likely doubled in value since.

1.3 manual with central locking, PAS, 4 x electric windows and working air con - a very capable back up car and ideal for lending to visitors. Sadly no floating digital speedometer, though.

Its greatest party trick is confusing others at ski fields, where they don't expect it to be overtaking 2wd utes uphill in 5th gear, as said utes are forced to wear snow chains, attached several kilometres before any actual snow....

Here's the tiny rear diff:

Screenshot_20230311-213428_Gallery.jpg.462bd7e48c3c32e34f4ddd9237ea96b3.jpg

And unique exhaust and fuel tank, to make it fit. Also quite tidy underneath!

I'm typing this from my motel room, after flying down to the south island to pick up my new* daily driver, which vaguely shares some attributes with this little wonder car.

I also bought a miniature shite today, to keep this post on subject. New vehicles to be revealed later.

And I've also seen some right top level 1:1 scale spots, too.

I'd consider updating my spotted thread at some point, but they seem to be majorly unpopular on here, these days.

i'll bet the mini magnifique is spendy

Couldn't see the price on it, but very likely three figures so yeah... probably not cheap!

I should be back up in Belfast on Wednesday so will hopefully get the chance to pop back in at some stage of the afternoon - what are we looking for, then?

@Noel Tidybeard - MB Superkings Suzuki SJ

@bunglebus - Corgi Rockets GP Buggy, orange

@flat4alfa - Lintoy Mercedes C111; Majorette BMW (if not ludicrously priced)

Ok so far?

Poor Escort. Chances of a spares car is fairly slim sadly, I was lucky to find this complete one (bar the boot spoiler) a few years back

Why such a popular car, both as everyday transport and in motorsport saw so little attention from toy makers when it was current I'll never know

The Hot Wheels and Star Wars effect. When it came out and Kenner released all those little figures, a lot of kid and toy manufacturers switched to film and TV stuff in a big way. The more traditional car toys for boys started slipping away, hence why a lot of cars made after that time were not made in great numbers and the likes of Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox used old castings beyond their true life or made new fantasy castings of fictitious vehicles of TV Film related stuff.

Longbridge Jr was given a decent  box of secondhand cars from a friend's mum recently - they date from the last couple of decades. A few caught my eye including this Mattel/McDonald's light up diecast. New batteries and Bob's your uncle. It's also survived a five minute dip in the bath too, fortunately.

I can't see any other matching models online so assume it's relatively rare.

Theyre kind of Micro Machines sized but with monster truck type wheels. They’re totally different to my genuine Micro Machines monster trucks though. There is something written on the base, but it’s so small and faint I can’t read it!

Yes also by Galoob. They are the earlier Super 4x4 series, part of the Micro Machines range.

Those two were 1989 only in those colours and available together in this set

For 1991, range revised with new larger wheel design and rename of range to Tuff Trax, which are probably what you have already
