To a plastic Cortina Mk3 with a friction motor, for two of the Queens' pounds. No brand on it, just 'Made in Hong Kong 7195'. In the meantime, the MM-Toys Bedford TK popped over to say hello. The photos were poor, so doubly pleased to see it's a Cortina, not a Taunus. Measured it, and it's accurate to 1:32 scale. Excellent. It's a bit brittle though. I used to have this box of Tomica Skylines: I recall it cost around £80, and I ended up selling it on again a few years later for about the same amount. They'd probably be worth more now*, but they felt a bit too 'modern collectible' to me and I prefer hunting around for MIB Superfasts. *Actually, looks like around £120 plus shipping from Japan, which I suppose isn't too bad seeing what individual ones go for. junkyarddog, Split_Pin, Datsuncog and 3 others

bunglebus
Tis DONE I could have given this a mad paint job and new wheels but felt compelled to restore it for some reason, even the original axles that are the weakest thing ever got straightened out. I need to put a packing piece in to bring the glass up to the right height for some reason. It's not as light a blue as it looks under the unnatural lighting. Datsuncog
Well, it sure feels like we're in the bleak midwinter... But, perhaps more significantly, the Market is ON. I know, OMG etc. Just follow the trail of rusty Sprinters, and there it bally well is. Despite pessimism, the Executive did lift circuit-breaker restrictions at midnight after all, so... here we are. Tat Stall was in situ, and my perseverance was rewarded by watching The Nemesis make off with a mint Dinky Range Rover Fire Chief. Well, bollocks. Especially as it was pretty much the only item really worth having off the table this morning: Everything here priced at a fiver, seemingly, with dust at no extra charge. Nothing older than 1983, to my eye anyway. Corgi Classics R-R Silver Ghost is a 1985 reissue; one split tyre and mucho dust, but otherwise decent. Bedford TK Pantechnicon by EFE, I think. Most of the 50s/60s Yank tin is by ERTL; Corgi Classics and Lledo Vanguards account for most of the remainder. Think the Sentinel Steam Truck is by Days Gone... cream E-Type drophead is courtesy of Matchbox Dinky. Plenty of Maisto/MC Toy pull-back stuff, presumably ex-Shell promo. Blue MGB GT on the far left also a Matchbox Dinky item; 00 gauge trucks also EFE. Big mahoosive-engine Edwardian racer thing is a Brumm job, possibly missing some bits. Renault Trafic (which my autocorrect wants to render as 'Tragic', possibly not without justification) is a Solido item. '57 Chevy patrol car a Corgi Classics effort, based on their unusual early-80s 1/43 casting. Yellow Cadillac V16 is by Rextoy, remember them? Solido Age d'Or sort of quality of detail, but fairly heavy (though not quite Brooklin heavy). Few chips, though. White and yellow fire appliance with busted bumper is a late era MoY, when they were mail-order only; Kenworth Aerodyne Coca Cola arctic may also be a Lledo Promotionals item. More MoY and Lledo fun, with a reasonable enough 1/36 Corgi 'Cars of the 1950s' Bentley R in black hiding right at the back. Cord and Duesenberg are Matchbox items also. Some more Corgi Chevys and a smattering of EFE trucks too. Market Blokey must have seen my face crumpling into tears even behind the mask, as he rushed to proffer me a box of buses in consolation. Plaxton Premier in National Express colours, and another Van Hool Alisee in Shearings livery - were these ones that @Rover414 had expressed an interest in, a few weeks back? Some trolleybuses... ...and some old buses (sorry, I'm a bit rubbish at bus-identifying). Leyland? Then a whole heap of Hong Kong buses, mostly KMB, if they appeal to anyone here? Again, all at a fiver a pop! Also, still-sealed Honda Fireblade in there and all. Just to ensure a full sweep, I headed round the other stalls... Charity Stall had nowt to offer in terms of diecast today, sadly. Alan's Emporium was also a bit depleted; I guess there's been limited opportunity for anyone to replenish their stock lately. He did have this mildly scruffy Corgi Renault 5 Turbo, though. Couldn't manage to muster the enthusiasm to stump up £2 for it. Paddy's Antiques Shitshow was still keeping the dream alive, you'll be pleased to learn. Marginally better stock display skills on offer, but prices still as nutso as ever. And, a newcomer to the diecast field also... Corgi and Matchbox, both big and smol... All sorts of Matchbox and more; Mercedes G-wagen something odd and European by a manufacturer I'd never heard of and now can't remember, but annoyingly missing its front end. Hong Kong-era Dinky and a brace of 70s Saintmobiles... Okay, so this is another general tat Giffer stall, and while I can heartily applaud any new diecast, this was mostly tat box stuff at antiques shop prices. Presumably Paddy helped him price them. £4 for a Superkings GMC mixer with no cylinder or grille - when I managed to score a minter for only a pound more? Nah, mate. He did let me know that he could do me a deal, so if there's anything you fancy, I can make enquiries... the Dinky SD1 was actually not bad, and he might do it for a tenner. Early release of the Corgi Rolls Royce Corniche was priced at £6, so might do it for less too. Kojak Buick a bit knackered, Starsky and Hutch Torino totally banjaxed with missing A-posts and glazing. So then... a small patch of quasi-normality, amongst a sea of end-of-year strangenesses... and if there's anything you lot are interested in, let me know and I might be able to call back over once I've sorted out some printer issues in work! Take care, cats and kittens! Split_Pin, morrisoxide, andrew e and 3 others

Porsche 917 alongside is a Growler, though. Tinplate RC Porsche is by Nikko... ...and, surprisingly, he's only looking a fiver for it. Interested? Datsuncog
Interesting, isn't it? I guess to blokes of a certain age, Dinky = high quality and valuable, while Japanese tinplate = cheap rubbishy tat. Glad I found summat decent this morning, at any rate!
