Shite in Miniature II

Christmas pressie for the 19 month old boy sorted:

MX-5, Aston Martin, apparently some American car called Trans-Am.

Jaguar and a Lamborghini.

Then there's some kind of kit car in black with red and green, a V10 hot rod, a single seat racer, maybe not scale models but believable.

A weird green mid-engined ute, something I can image MCM doing if they bought a super car and ute and welded them together, and what I can only describe as if Edd China took magic mushrooms and went on Scrap Heap Challenge, bottom right. Turbine powered skeleton styled wheeled vehicle.

The Corgi R5 turbo nutter bastard for £2 isn't bad but I already have one, and I expect Mr. Greedy wants £76 for the Growlers Porsche. £1 at the most for that.

Bring back the 50p tat box!

Yeah, I dithered about the R5 too - while I am kinda looking for one, I'd sooner pay more for a decent one.

But yes, had it been 50p then game on...

While conducting a final sweep, Alan (of the eponymous Emporium) beckoned me behind his stall for some 'other stuff you might like' - naturally, my thoughts turned to boxed Spot Ons but no, what we had were plastic fire engines and Poundland grade monster trucks.

I could see he kinda needed a sale, so I picked up a lightly worn Volvo V70 peelermobile (by HTI Toys, whoever they are), which seemed the best of the bunch...

Oh. £3, you say?

I wasn't really feeling it, but I gave him a handful of change anyway.

I think it's some sort of light and sound thing, though the batteries must be knackered.

And the front lightbar's also bust.

Hey ho.

Some you win, hey? Well, I only would have spent the money on scones, and heaven knows my waistline doesn't need any more of that...

50p to anyone who fancies it!

EDIT: SOLD!!!

Oh, and I picked up the OOC National Express Plaxton with the remaining change in my pocket too:

Fiver takes this one, otherwise I'll just hang on to it meself.

EDIT: ALSO SOLD!!!

Market Blokey also asked if I was interested in loose buses - and when I replied in the affirmative, he said he's got a load of 'bigger, heavier ones' (Corgi Classics?) with no boxes, which he'll bring along next week...

So watch this space, kids.

I won an Ebay job lot for £80 (plus p&p) and it turned up yesterday. I wanted the Spot on Minx and Zephyr (to change to red), the rest were just for fun.

Anyway, they were better than I expected. The Dinky car transporter is a great old truck and the sausage wagon is a hoot with swivelling barista.

Interestingly the Nash Rambler estate thingy is a Lonestar, not a Dinky.

I also can't work out the white tyres on the Corgi Mini??

The three modern LLedos are not too bad really.

I have to say, I fancied some of those dusty cars, but not at that price.  They would need to come in pairs or even trios to be worth my while spending a fiver.  Thanks for posting them up though!

Agreed - the pricing seems waaaay off on these - only a few months back he was knocking out mint/boxed MoYs and Lledo for £2 a throw; so a fiver for a really scruffy unboxed example is Not Good.

Still, it's dynamic pricing, or so it seems - if he's selling at £2, he likely paid a pound each. If he's looking a fiver, he probably had to shell out £2.50 each or thereabouts to secure this job lot, so I s'pose it's market forces at work...

It would cost him nothing to dust them, mind - unless he's going with the OMG BARNFIND school of sales...

There's a chance he may drop the prices a smidge to clear some stock, so by all means let me know if anyone's interested in anything and I'll do my darnedest to secure them at target price next week, all being well!

What a fantastic haul - and, even including a fair old whack for posting that lot, I'd guess the whole lot came in at £notmuch each. The Spot On Minx looks especially alluring.

Top darts!

Fair play to the seller - P&P for the whole lot was £8.95

So I was naughty and did a purchase on eBay. It was local but on a BIN and I saw it late at night so just hit the button including postage to stop anyone else nabbing them.

Seller ignored my messages about collecting them so I've been watching nervously for the postman

So, various makes and scales of moderately interesting stuff

here's the ones I was really after

all four bumpers intact but of course missing the hoist

I did have a Tomica bus but this one's loads better

why did I buy this? Because it was made for Magnet Southerns so goes with the ex-Corgi Mazda pickup. Should look like this

20201211_172737.jpg.e251c93fc5f2d6d0a840c1592cf3c897.jpg

But I figured as a flatbed I could display the pickup on it. Scale is of course totally wrong!

Nice haul, especially the Scania.

Do you know who made the Elan? I have the same one – iirc it was a freebie at the Esso garage. It has a pull-back motor for minutes of fun.

I have a black Escort cabrio from the same source. Again 1:32ish scale and a pull-back motor, but less well modelled. Especially around the headlights.

The Rextoy Cadillac, the blue Chevy copcar and the Renault Trafic...

And I know it's hard to see, but there's another Chevy copcar here in green and white with black wings, as opposed to the all-green-and-white on the other side of the display.  I already have a mint one of those, but not the one with the black wings, which is an old NYPD livery.  I don't mind speculating a brownie on those four.  (I already have a couple of the Rextoy Cadillacs, different models, and they are nice.)  I'm assuming there's nothing missing from any of them of course!

And somehow I've managed to put my whole message inside the quote.  Silly bugger.

Wow! Can't compete with these lovely Tomicas but managed to grab a bit of JDM loveliness today, that I've been hunting for a while,

Nice to finally see it as a mainline.

Got a few others. I'm  liking this Chevelle, sadly it's not the STH version,

Another .nice recolour for the Monte Carlo,

And a nice version of this later Chevelle. Pretty subtle for a Crass and Spurious version,

Nice to see at least some late 2020 HW hitting our shops. Two cases behind the latest releases isn't too bad for round here....

I know that a few others here make model kits, so I just wanted to share the joys of Tamiya X-19 Smoke. A bottle is less than £2, and it’s fantastic for adding details - it just goes on with a paintbrush. I suspect it’s also quite good for diecast restorations too.

(No doubt this is common knowledge and I’m the last person to find out about it)
