Craigs Countrywide Cack. MINIATURE TURKISH SELECTION BOX

[mouseflakes]

300C excites me, and the half-broken Bedford coach/horsebox thing with the shiny face. Nice things you've captured there!

[55bloke]

That split-window V-dub is amazing- can't be many left in that sort of unrestored condition now- wonder if the owner knows what he's got, and what it's worth?!

It's been lowered, meaning it's probably owned by some scene slave.......

[scrappylad]

Very smart Accord automatic, current owner is a bit of a Honda enthusiast and when the local dealer took this as a trade-in he was offered it first - price paid reputedly £5.00!

Where was this one spotted?

Edinburgh or locale I'm thinking...

[mk2_craig]

Correct p.s. since nobody's asked, I guess it's obvious what the tarp's hiding

Some more ladies and gennelmen?

Very rare mk1 Uno turbo in nice standard condition.

Wonderfully shabby P5

Something rather dislikeable about this Mk1 Tina

This a Gilbern! And that's all I know about it

Night time shot of a non-soft-top Quantum, the Q-reg suggesting that no old XR2s were harmed in the making of this production

Marina Koop in unbelieveably good order

Tidy ADO16

Unmolested 911

Shite?

You can still find Fiesta MkIIs north of the border

Decomposing Daimler

Near to some resting old Jugulars... these mk10s? back axle from the green one was lying a few feet away

Pauper-spec, late build Cortina...

...was on the back of this old Leylard...

...parked next to this ageing Frod! (which doesn't really crank my shaft, but thought someone here would appreciate it)

Staying on the commercial theme - no badges to help me identify

The mystery tractor unit is an ERF 'A' series which was built from the mid sixties to mid seventies That Guy tipper looks every inch a working wagon, very nice to see

[Baz]

Interesting Mk1 Cortina....Why not just BUY a 2-door if You want one?

[Torsten2001]

because EVERYONE has a normal 2 door!

Thanks for the Ford 4000 picture, I appreciate it!

Perhaps he couldn't find a good one at a price he could afford?

[Guest greenvanman]

I have to say I love this sort of thing:

Not the car particularly, just the whole 'rolling resto' look. I always remember a PA Cresta I once saw in New Zealand. It had lost about 3/4 of it's exterior trim, the interior was totalled and the body wore about as much primer as the Rover above. It had a current registration and was obviously someone's daily driver, it clearly would have cost far too much to restore but that would have spoiled the gnarled old survivor's appeal anyway. Like this Rover it seemed to be saying "I'm still here, isn't that enough?".

[AnthonyG]

4 dr cortina Mk1s with the rear doors welded up are w@nk, IMHO. The thought of all that filler covering the gaps, and the fact that water/ dampness within the door, and in the door/sill/c pillar join also makes me think they are probably a good way to create a very rusty Cortina in short order.Yuk.

Those ERF A series get unbelievably narrow at the top of the cab. I think I would feel claustrophobic up there. Anyone sat in one?

But this is, apparently, an Invincible Guy

So was Superman!

[CortinaDave]

Fantastic. Where was the rough mk5 tina? never seen that one locally before.. is it in a yard?

I'm right with you on that!! And in any case, the proportions and lines of the 2 door are very different to the 4 door, so welding up the back doors doesn't make it a 2 door, just a 4 door with 2 of it's doors no longer of any use!! I recall it was popular to do the same thing with Mk 2 Cosuls back in the 70s- I wonder how many of those which had the doors welded shut back then are still with us, and how many of those that aren't, would be, if they hadn't been so butchered? If you see what I mean!?

[Mr H Sceptre]

So what exactly is the point of welding the rear doors shut? Is it purely a cosmetic thing? If so then its a bloody waste of time. Idiots.

Filler, horrible colour, bonnet pins - it's a Retro Barry thing

[mk2_craig]

More from my travels (this time with a strong Ford theme)

Shite? You decide

144 Volvomatic

164 in fine fettle

Taken at a distance, what appears to be the US version of the Horizon!!

Much Mk2 Henry landfill follows

Capri under resto

Full marks to the owner for preserving this one as is

OK so I had to go to a car show to find this, but 22k miles in the uncommon yellow made it worth the effort

Mk2 D series!

Tina on the M6

Followed by a later, more spacious one

XR2 everything except the logbook

A mk3 Cav?? Yes, but respect for retaining those wheeltrims for so long

Gullwing guff

Truck tat 1

Truck tat 2

Finishing with a fine Soozookee - could have taken this shot seven or eight years ago, it's usually parked in the same position

Would be interesting to know what the trucks are

[bigstraight6]

The old lorries are both Albions, the company was based in Bathgate near Glasgow and went on to be swallowed up by the mighty British Leyland empire who continued with Albion derived designs right upto the early 1980's......

[r.welfare]

That's deffo a US-spec Horizon (either a Plymouth Horizon or Dodge Omni). The only ones I've seen in this country are the Shelby-breathed-on GLH and GLH-S versions, why anyone would import a boggo job is beyond me. Must be ex-US airbase?

[Mr_Bo11ox]

Wow, a yank spec Horizon! You'd need to be a pretty hardcore shiter if you thought the european one was not shite enough!

[mk2_craig]

The car was at some Yank auto place on the A5 (somewhere west of Hinckley) and - assuming I've got the reg right as it's unreadable on the photos - mycarcheck.com says it's a Dodge and the DVLA site comes up with The vehicle details for A370 DWP are: Date of Liability 01 06 2007 Date of First Registration 21 06 1996 Year of Manufacture 1984 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2200CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol/Gas Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Due to Expire Vehicle Colour BRONZE Vehicle Type Approval null As usual, take what you read with a pinch of salt

[MrRegieRitmo]

Capri under resto

Is that a MkII Capri with MkIII rear lights? Or an un-age related registration?

Gullwing guff

Toyota Sera I think it's called. Funky thing.

Finishing with a fine Soozookee - could have taken this shot seven or eight years ago, it's usually parked in the same position

There was a Suzuki hatch at the end of the nineties called Baleno or Alto or Swift, I'm not sure which but it had an identical rear end to this - perhaps they re-used it or ran out of ideas!

[MrRegieRitmo]

TK turbo still in service

Amazing to think the TK (not including the MK which is still used if not still built for the forces!) was sold for 20 yrs! It saw out both the MkI & MkII Ford D Series lorries & also any Leyland offerings of the 60s/70s!

[wuvvum]

Taken at a distance, what appears to be the US version of the Horizon!!

Wonder if the torsion bars off that would fit my Simca?...

Nice spots there. That old D series is the 4-pot version - one of the slowest vehicles on the road. Love the Police-spec Mk2 Escort.

[MrRegieRitmo]

Bet the tea leaves loved being chased by one of those!

Baleno was a small saloon if I remember right.

I think it was the Alto that looked like this, borrowing from its earlier incarnation, but that was some years later.

The Swift was a similar shape also but slightly bigger and has been around since the year dot now.

[Spottedlaurel]

There is a Baleno hatch, I see one most mornings. It’s fitted with a bodykit, as they often seem to be. Regie is right, they’re not dissimilar at the back.

[MrRegieRitmo]

Baleno hatch, voila!.....

Believe it or not, Chrysler US went to the trouble of fitting coil spring front suspension to 'their' Horizon, to accomodate the engine they bought from VW originally. This one, according to DVLA, has the 'K Car' 2.2 four-pot which must make it a pretty horrible device all round. Top shite points, then!

[MrRegieRitmo]

There is a Baleno estate too but it's not to my taste, the back end is bit bug eyed.None of the variations are common but the saloon is definitely seen about the most.Which Suzuki actually is that old light green one? Alto? The thing with Suzuki is that they seem to have cornered the market in small cheap vehicles so it's not easy to work out where the models sit within the range!
