    Stars in Shite

Opening the Chunnel 30 years ago. Mitterrand had to hitch a lift as his SM had gone all French/Italian on him. Again.
  3. The Corgi Juniors Ford Escort (Mk3) first produced 1981, with some early production distributed by Ford There was a blue mainline (which is much less common) that along with the range going forward did away with the black grille / bumper detail and has the earlier brown interior But I think your example would be post-1984 receivership as has a lighter brown interior and shares tampo print with the 1989 Weetabix promotional Your blue example isn’t common, the overwhelming majority with the XR3i tampo are in the red. (Perhaps it might have been a tad cynical dressing up as XR3i with no other changes made - having no spoiler / body kit. But the resurrection through management buyout honourably retaining the GB production meant little money for development) Notice your blue one wears the original wheel style, whereas the Weetabix red has the style seen on the 1986 BP garage promotion This Escort casting did not survive the Mattel 1989 buyout as it was not seen as part of the subsequent move to Chinese production as Auto-City range for 1991 TL;DR- ok I’ll give you a couple of quid for it, if only to compare alongside the 1986 Matchbox XR3i Cabriolet in blue, with similar graphic!

  5. Since @craigr pointed out that having two vans on site made not a lot of sense, I have your old Caddy that is a bloody awesome car, and getting washed in 20 minutes, for sale. New ECU transformed it. I am just painting the dipstick on another of your former vehicles that I have just washed and dried as I am going to a car show in it on Thursday. My Green 206 CC needs to be upgraded to daily once the Caddy sells. Its a little rocket 🚀 Primer And painted. Grizzification continues. Its a bloody brilliant beastly thing in a silk suit.
  6. Gave the bike a very mild once over this morning. This basically involved putting my marshalling sticker on the mudguard I should of applied before the event and lubing the chain. Have ignored the slight slackness and reasoned that with all the luggage it will be fine. After all too tight is worse than too loose. The headbearings have worked a little loose. They're knackered i've been in there with sandpaper and fresh grease and now have spares in my tool roll. One evening after work i plan to use their jet wash then do some spannering. Notably I did find a screwdriver in my dads garage and properly tighten the indicator Ive been twiddling up with the ignition key everytime it works loose. Spotted that just before I left home. Off to the Cotswolds early doors tomorrow. Looks like my run of good weather is done for if the forecast is to be believed.
  7. “Sir, what vehicle are you in?” ”carlton” ”no sir, your car?” ”Carlton!” “i see sir, good choice”
  8. Or if they have no legs! Do those seats slide backwards?
  9. @juular I trust you are going to address this leak?
  10. Was gutted I missed out on that XJ. I had the same as an auto and loved it. Hope I get my manual xjr back from the garage soon. I'd check what the throttle is reading to make sure you're getting 100% at wide open. I might actually have a good spare key fob as well

    Yellow…..

That is epic, I'd never seen the way the rear seats work, even cooler than a Proton Jumbuck!
  12. Park the fiesta as close to the wall as possible and get into it through the boot. Plop the brown champion alongside it and go through the window.

    Yellow…..

Oooh!! That is very nice. How yellow is your steering wheel? I see yours is the later interior with half yellow leather which included the steering wheel and gear knob. Earlier cars just had the frog in a crown moquette everywhere including the door trims. But then I assume they suddenly thought this isn't yellow enough, how can we add more yellow. I think only Škoda could have even contemplated selling a car like this and even they wouldn't these days. I'd like to see more interior shots please. I think they look even better with the Truckman top and I personally think that's a good price. I don't think I'd like to pay it myself but I know what they go for now and that looks good especially if the conversion is done well. For some reason even the normal pick ups go for much more than the cars. Actually I know what that reason is, is VW scene tax innit because the mk2 Caddy was just a rebadged Felicia. Talking of which I don't recognise the wheels, are they four or five stud? If they've changed the gearbox too then it would probably have been quite easy to swap the driveshafts and hubs at the same time. Again, I'd love to see more detailed pics. When you're ready of course. As some of you know I have a Favorit with a Polo GTI 1.6 16v engine. It is supposedly 125bhp which is almost exactly double the standard car. It also has rear discs from a golf and bigger front vented discs from those renowned high performance supercars, the Kia Rio! It has uprated springs which keep it flat but it is really too stiff for my liking. The Felicia gained anti roll bars to keep it flat without being too stiff. And the pick ups have thicker front ARBs, 22mm instead of 19mm iirc. So my car is lively if not earth shattering by modern standards, but plenty enough for me. I also have power steering from a Felicia which makes it far more chuckable. The standard steering is easily light enough on the move but the power steering is much higher geared which is what really helps the chuckability. I my opinion the chassis is well able to handle the extra power in mine but 190bhp is a whole other level, I'd love to know what you think of yours. Brilliant purchase, can't wait to see more.
  15. My same scale Mustang has those wheels too
  16. The Simca probably saw the 929 on the drive and immediately understood the bizarre change of life that has befallen it. I bet it's quite relieved. What an absolutely astounding little car. Brilliant endeavour all round, 38/10, would read thread again multiple times.

Ideal for when In nine years time it can be time to apply for free tax. Fuck me, 9 years until the Mondeo can go historic. I feel the same with my 1993 E36 mind. BMW now offer a ‘birth certificate’ for cars, but at €125 it’s a bit rich for my tastes.
  18. Aye - as long as you climb out through the boot?

B'cos @Peter Cgot a build date letter for his Sierra - I thought I'd better get one for my car for its history file.
  20. if they were still using Argosys (or the whistling tit as they were known in the RAF days) id be all over that, just because
