It's probably a staffing issue. Boot's is owned by US private equity - staff may feel pissed off and 'work to rule '.

They're owned by Walgreen's, their US equivalent, though any US ownership is not usually good for service levels.

I have no f’king idea why anyone uses ‘budget’ couriers like this lot, it’s asking for trouble. I do the odd bit of ebaying and everything goes via Postman Pat’s red wagon with the King’s crown on the side, dispatched via the staff at my local Post Office. It’s slightly more expensive but it usually gets there!

A couple of times an inbound parcel has gone for a wander, and their tracking has always been accurate and honest so far - “Oops, we sent your parcel to furthest point of Scotland by mistake….” etc; annoying but at least they know where it is!

Because there’s not much choice otherwise

I tend to use the Royal Mail these days and good old postman pat and they’ve never fucked up

i used to like sending via DHL as they were staggeringly reliable and efficient but they’ve become a faff on

evri have been completely mixed for me, sometimes good sometimes shite no inbetween

that’s why I only send low value stuff with them now after a fiasco with a computer which I still feel bad about

Why do they do it? Why? To flip, for fun - it's just ridiculous. When they ask I'd just increase the price. £250? Nope £750...that's  a £250 'service charge' for each daft question.

IMHO for a lot of stuff the internet is finished.

Just tell them that if they cannot afford £500 then the world of car ownership is not for them, and perhaps any money they can put aside may be best spent on either bus tickets or a pushbike.

My next door neighbour (and good friend) died yesterday after a long struggle with cancer.

My memories of Saturdays in the sun, working on our cars together will be cherished.

RIP Mark. One of the good ones.

CND has expanded his fleet to 2 x transit tippers + obligatory no MOT disco 4*

He has zero off road parking, so pikey 1 is blocking the rear access road, pikey 2 he's playing touch park Hazel's fiat 500, disco dumped wherever Katie Price has least distance to walk. Hazel has grown a bit of backbone, and parked a smidge further back so there's no space for pikey 2, with the result he's still touch parking, but also blocking old fella next door's drive as well. Fucks given, zero.

We have a serial bullseye winner nearby (caravan, speedboat, trailer, works van, tesla, smoll car 1 & 2), and have none of this shit from him 'cos he's got the brain power to buy a house with suitable parking.

Sick note updated and received, dates corrected, so that's something.  Also found out the self-referral appointment I thought was on Friday wasn't, the phone call I got then was from one of the other mental health teams that were discharging me from their services since I was with the self-referred service.  Said service also manage two different systems and the reason they haven't called me on Friday is actually the earliest I was supposed to hear from them was today, so I should get an appointment this week when someone has reviewed my assessment and assigned a worker to my case.

I'm writing this down more as a place to jog my memory than anything else and to highlight how confusing this is even without brain problems.  It's an absolute shambles.  I'm also supposed to be getting the results of a blood test done last week but I don't know if that's something I chase up or not, and if it is something I chase up I have no idea how long I am or am not supposed to leave it.  Hopefully the test comes back totally normal so we can hopefully rule out a physical cause.

I'm still pro-NHS, in principle, but in practice it's an overstretched underfunded chaotic nightmare due to decades of neglect and the care I'm currently receiving is representative of the state of things.

Get the nhs app on your phone and you will be able to see blood test results etc.  The nice thing about blood tests is they are either in  or out of the nhs limits. If they are out , theres the problem.  Good luck with it.

down at the parents house today

replaced the torn and shredded jacket on their hot water cylinder

what a cunt of a job, absolutely no room to the sides

Oh aye and it was red hot as well so that felt really enjoyable

i really enjoyed squeezing my hands round the back of some nice hot copper, with even hotter pipes coming out of it, I’m surprised I didn’t actually burn myself

The string was a bastard as well to put round it

only took me a good half an hour

i know it’s not the best string work but no I don’t care

Except if your blood tests are okay, then it's an indication that ME is a possibility.

I've done the same in the last couple of years. Hateful job. It will never be as efficient as a modern spray foam tank but it will keep your folks water warm and save them a bob or two this winter.

Well done that son.

I thought it would be a piss easy 2 minute job

no

not at all

Would be a lot better if the tank was cold I’d say as it was really uncomfortably hot

but hey ho it should be a fair bit more efficient now

Is there anyone anywhere in the entire world who is more irritating than Alan Carr? It doesn't seem to matter what channel I select, the fat, useless lump of fucking lard will be mincing across the screen within about ten minutes.

No, there is not.

Came home from a lovely trip away... to find my boiler is now seemingly shagged. What we thought was an outside light tripping the electrics may have been the boiler breathing its last. It's gone to Ignition Lockout and resetting gets heat back for a bit but lots of glugging noises and eventually it conks out again.

British Gas HomeCare... "if logged before 11am we come out the same day"

I mean yes I'm well after 11am but that still shouldn't make it bloody Wednesday...

Anyone in your household over 65 or under 10? Asthma or any other breathing problems? Heart problems? Cancer?
If so mention it and they’ll be there tomorrow.
We had a similar situation with BG. Said my wife has asthma, they virtually said “we’re on our way”.

Just had an bloke go absolutely batshit crazy at me for taking a photo of his car!

Came out of Aldi and there is an Ora Funky Cat parked up in a disabled space - by coincidence James(son) and I had been talking about elecky cars this morning and I had mentioned that there was a Funky Cat driving around town, quite an uncommon BEV.

So I took a picture for the family group chat on whatsapp just as young ethnic guy who is clearly fit as a flea marches up and demands to know what Im doing, (well actually he asks first if  "Im allright"  I say, well apart from the pain in my knee Im pretty good thanks) so I tell him that by coincidence I had been discussing teh Funky Cat with my son that morning.

Then he goes totally ape demanding my phone, telling me I have no right to photograph his car, that I need permission, that I have to delete it, that its against the law and so on.
I drove off at that point - sadly my photo was shite and because he disturbed me ive only got his front wheel and bumper🤣

Check the heating water pump. Symptoms imply that it is not pumping.

Here is a revue of the 'Funky Cat'.

Get a 90° clip on periscope for the phone - means you can point to phone the other way - avoids hassle.

I can't believe that in 2024, after 20 years of having them built into every PC or laptop I've ever had, that I need to buy an external CD burner because the new laptop doesn't have one and the one in the desktop wil read and rip a disc but not burn it for some un-Googleable reason.
