Had a good session of lightning this afternoon, proper window rattlers with a couple striking close, less than a second so within 330 metres.

Shortly afterwards we were sitting under a creaky gazebo that was just about coping with the weather, sipping beer and finally cooling down

Then a LOT of sirens went down the A34, I predicted the destination exactly, Milton Interchange

What car is it ?

It’s an Australian make I think.

Had a puncture in the Avensis today, not five feet from my front gate. No idea what caused it though.

Drove a few kms to the nearest garage/tyre place. Looked a bit busy even at 6.30pm

The grin is that no one the spoke English, but managed to explain my problem to them in my crap Spanish. Waited a bit and then the fitter sign languaged that he needed my key. Amused the hell out of me watching him get into the passenger seat first.

Put a new tyre on, a brand that I had not heard of, and then charged me €33 all in.

Something must go tits up soon...

Ok , had my swimming stuff on all day .

The sky is starting to flash but no rain so far ...........

It's finally raining here and the miserable hot temperatures have fucked off.  I might actually sleep tonight, which will be superb.

I can understand why some people like hot weather, but it just knocks me out.

I think you've had all ours then because we have nothing 28 miles north east of you ???

Bumped into a bloke in the corridor outside my workshop who fits solar panels.

Casually asked if he had any spare/orphan panels kicking about. Result:

Most of the stuff in my camper runs off the batteries, even the water heater if needs be. A 200w panel like this will generate more electricity than I use in summer, even with the fridge running, so I can camp indefinitely without running out of juice and probably get away without using any gas. On an overcast day or in winter it won't generate as much, but will still probably account for half of my usage. And yes it'll keep the batteries all brimmed and in good health when the van is stood unused.

Are you going to mount it on the roof, or just prop it up outside when camping?

Posted

It'll be permanently on the roof, probably fixed with a low profile frame bolted to the roof bar anchor points.

Palindromes and fun numbers make me grin. I can’t decide which of these pleases me more:

Could that be counted as a fail then? I.E. you are are unable to test/inspect them?

Well that was quick. Sweated my way through a 6-hour apprenticeship interview yesterday and was told that I would hear within 5 working days. I get a phone call at 11 o'clock to say that I'm hired!! Still pinching myself now to make sure this isn't a dream! It took two years but man it's worth it.

They're all parked with their front wheels on the same line in the concrete. The Renault is tiny.

I'll take the Pontiac (Chieftain?) please.

You can mail it to:

Bet it gets more looks than any of the others,

They were absolutely correct, you DID hear within 5 working days. Stock answer, to allow for rejection letter to be posted. Anyway, irrelevant, well done that man!

Should be really but most testers can’t be arsed with the flack about it . If it’s a modern ish clean and tidy car I suppose they take the risk

Many thanks both to you and  @320touring!

Indeed, however it was also because they extended the application time (which I'm eternally grateful for or else this wouldn't have happened) and pushed back the assessments to yesterday, while keeping the work start date to be 1st September. Pretty tight!

Is there an option to advise like with child seats? I.e. couldn’t be tested due to month old Maccy D shite in boot, or similar.
