vulgalour
I suspect this is someone on here, if not I'll be very surprised indeed, but I just had a suggestion for a Princess slam panel pop up on eBay after making the tow bar post over in the News thread and checked out their other items. Some choice material. twosmoke300
Never understood bx bonnets . Did very early ones have metal ones? Or just some random models cos 90 percent of the ones I've seen are plastic.
M'coli
I suspect pukka Citroen bonnets were plastic, but aftermarket panels (Veng or Hadrian for example) would have been steel for ease of production and painting.
crapcarcollector
My shitey sense tells me that's a Grande Punto quarter panel not a Bravo one ... Sent from my Nokia 3310 using the force.
brickwall
You could well be correct. In fact, I think you are!
Micrashed
I suspect pukka Citroen bonnets were plastic, but aftermarket panels (Veng or Hadrian for example) would have been steel for ease of production and painting. Many were produced with plakka bonnets, however some models came with metal ones - Im fairly sure it was the long nose diesel variants only that got metal ones.Certainly the two TZD Turbos I had were plastic, but the TGD NA donkey one had a metal bonet. Not wildly sure why, Jon Wood did once tell me, but I have slept since then.
vulgalour
The ex-Dollywobbler diesel BX had a plastic bonnet.
Lacquer Peel
I had a theory that the metal bonnets were for intercooled diesels to clear the top mounted intercooler. BUSTED.
Pillock
Maybe for TD models cos of the heat from the turbo turning the placca bonnet to CheeseStrings?
mat_the_cat
Afraid not...I've had 4 TDs, and all had the plastic bonnet. It seems to be early diesels, and end of production (using up stock?) cars that often had metal ones, plus the odd random car of any age (pattern replacements?) Or maybe it's because they are French. NorfolkNWeigh
To add more confusion I've had Gti,a TZi estate and a 1.6 TRS with plastic and an A reg 1.4e with steel. You'd have thought the 1.4 would need all the weight saving it could get.
