Any combination remotely close to my name or birthday is out, and I don't have a middle initial either, which makes plates hard for me. That and my habit of driving early 90s cars.

I've had a couple of cars with private plates on them but they'd been on the cars so long they wouldn't go on to retention without sending the logbook off so I didn't bother keeping them - H14 DGK on a ropey MX5, and A10 CLP on that shitheap Accord Aerodeck I bought purely for lols.

Family plates, not got the 61 plate onto anything yet, too new for me.

I'd keep it that way!

as the Exo had sneaked ever so slightly* over budget, it seemed churlish not to chuck another £250 at it for a fancy plate :)

the first (and probably only) time i’ve bought a private plate, i’m quite proud of how old my mx5 is so happy to keep its original plate and my daily changes so often it would bankrupt me swapping plates every few months :)

That's not bad value for a fairly appropriate 6-character plate.

I once had a car with A234NKP. Just changed my name by deed poll to Norman Keith Parkinson. Cheaper than a plate with my real initials on!

If only my name was Harry I could claim this as a wanker plate

K546 HAR - 1993 Ford Mondeo 2.0i Ghia

Or if I was Chinese and called Yang Du

The British Citroen?

How did you get those plates with the Scottish flag Tam?  I only asked for a Devon flag on some plates a few months ago and was flatly refused “as it’s not legal blah blah blah bollocks” Very cool ‘ private’ number by the way!

There was a titty bar in Hanley called ST1.

Never been in, shame. It’s been closed a while now.

I wonder how much that plate would be valued at now? Can't be many people (other than Impreza owners) who'd want to drive round advertising they'd got an STI

There's diseases that used to have the category STI. Just saying...

And more recently some of them have upgraded to Ford Rangers

Another that comes to mind, if it exists, would be THE 1, top of the Premier league for wanker status I'll wager.

Now on an ageing Merc last MOT'd in 2010 apparently. (Yes I actually bothered to look it up. I need to get a life).

More Anglesey reg plates. Shame she doesn't live there, or you'd be quids-in!

MJ is a Manchester prefix

@MikeRhas MJ 10 ###

Mrs New POD has MJ11 ###

Miss Little POD has MJ 09 ###

All came from Local Car Sales Places in the North West.

New Pods Initials happen to be MJ but my car has a Swansea CE 65 ### on it.

I assume £9500 includes the Ranger, either that or he's retiring on medical grounds after falling on his head

I’m not so much into names, I just like  old plates that look good. I don’t have any at the mo, buying and selling is easy and as long as you buy at the right price you don’t lose money. These are from this year.

Where do you find is the best place to sell them?

Plate bought for £249. Sold the van with it on, although the buyer said I could keep it, as she was putting her grandfather's plate on it.

No such thing as personal plates here in Spain, so you get whatever comes on the vehicle.

Not yet on the car, but since I now have 7 MK1 espaces in my possession I figured I should accept my inevitable demise into lunacy and speed up the process somewhat with a surprisingly expensive number plate.

Couldn't think of anything closer.  What a wanker.

Back in the 90s a mate had a private plate on his car, his girlfriend caught him with yet another girl.. she bought some plates with wanker printed on them.. he drove around for days before he noticed...

Nothing goes cheaply on the DVLA BSA  plate auctions, eh?

A35 GTE cost me £1040 after fees, IIRC.

How much was ESP 4C?
